I hate shoes too.
But due to working, I have:
1 pair black pumps - work
2 pair black sling backs (one leather and one cloth) - work
1 pair brown slides (mules) - work
1 pair brown summery sandals - work
1 pair black "flat" sandals that are dressy
1 pair black flat sketcher sandals - casual
1 pair black chunky sandals - casual
3 pair very expensive running shoes (because NONE fit me right)
Now, I will have to say that, no, you cannot find one pair of black shoes to go with work stuff. I was able to get away with that during the winter, but with my summer clothes, they are made of so many different fabrics and the length and cut of one pair of pants (long and flared) is totally different from the length and cut of the other (short and straight). So the same shoe just doesn't look right.
For what it's worth, I really hate, hate, hate the shoes. I have no love of finding them and it is a real chore. Also, two years ago I took a tumble in the office parking lot and injured my left foot. It has never been the same. No matter what shoe I put on, after awhile it just hurts to walk in it.
I only own one black purse and carry it through all seasons. I'm fretting now because it is falling apart and I know I'll never find another that I like.
