I miss WDW since moving to the west coast

Our DGKs have always been great travelers. But I just hate the long flight. We don't have direct flights either (which I would much prefer). DW is not a morning person so we are always checking into our room after midnight. Every time I go to WDW I swear it will be the last time. That flight just kills me and I hate wasting two days of my vacation on travel. Luckily we have been able to get $200.00 per person the last couple of times we flew.

OP you should really give VGC a try. Nothing in FL is as close to the mouse. We love it there.

I feel your pain. We live in Hawaii, and want to plan a trip in early October to use our points at VGC. Just airfare for us is over $700 each! (Family of 4, thus $3000!)

Best of luck to you guys -- hope some of those sales to/from Hawaii comes available for your dates. I cannot even imagine having to pay that type of airfare without having to travel to a foreign country at least a day's flight away.

There are photos of the inward facing pool view rooms somewhere on the GCV DVC thread, and I happen to think that the nighttime view from those rooms are very nice, too (lighted pools, etc.)!

Thanks for the gorgeous shots. I think many of you guys have convinced me to book a stay at least once at VGC no matter how much it pains me to see the amount of points getting used in comparison to WDW resorts. When will the World of Color show officially open?

The big media event and celebrity grand opening is still pegged for the last weekend in April as we'd told you earlier, and unscheduled soft openings and plenty of preview shows are currently planned to begin by the Easter Vacation weeks in late March.

That's a bummer about the airfare. We just spent close to $300 in Jan which killed us since we never have to spend over $200 from Chicago.

I'm glad to see some of the VGC pictures though. I have a conference in Anehiem and looking at those points for a 1bd in summer make you want to run to the nearest Howard Johnson. In the end, I think we have decided to suck it up and get a 1bd for 3 nights to enjoy DL prior to the conference, and then move over to the conference hotel for the last 4 nights. DL for us is more of a once or twice in a lifetime trip, so we want to enjoy it. Then again, maybe we'll fall in love with DL and make it a more frequent destination.
Good luck to you. I don't think air travel with little ones is much easier if the flight is 3 hours or 5. For me the hard part is getting through the airport and security, dealing with luggage, and the stress of knowing that I have to get on an airplane. (I hate flying).
