I don't usually do trip reports but then it's not everyday that you meet a pair of Internet celebrities so I decided to do a brief report this trip.

We arrived at VWL at about 5:30 pm on Wednesday. Our room was ready -- pool view, very nice. The room is clean and and comfortable, everything is in good working order.

The weather is good too. There was a brief storm as we drove from the airport and a few showers today but otherwise not too hot, not too humid, at least not yet. It's going to get up to 90 very soon.

After checking out the room we headed over to DTD for dinner at Rainforest Cafe. I had the portabello sandwich (yummy!) and DH had the "Natural Burger" which was a bit mushy but tasty. We headed to Ghirardelli for dessert (free chocolate square!) and walked around DTD for a bit and then headed back to the room.

Thursday morning we did our grocery run and then returned to VWL for some pool time. The folks at the pool bar will still mix up a Lumberjack (WL's signature drink before the standardization of the drink menus) so we each had one. Dinner was at The Wave at the Contemporary. We were initially disappointed that the menu had been changed just days before so we would not be able to get the Seasonal Vegetable Stew that we enjoyed so much last time. The new vegetarian entree is Seasonal Roasted Vegetables. We decided to give it a try and we really enjoyed it. We also devoured all of the bread they brought to the table. Instead of the usual boring white bread it was a tasty, healthy looking, chewy, whole grain bread. We each had one slice with dinner and another instead of ordering dessert.

The MK was staying open late so we decided to head over there for the parade and fireworks and a few rides. We opted to walk instead of taking the monorail and I'm so glad we did. We were about half way to the MK when I see three people coming the other way. I instantly recognized two of them from their photographs: BroganMc and Grandpa Mohawk! The third person turned out to be one of BroganMc's brothers. If you follow BroganMc's trip reports then you would have a pretty good idea what they are like in person except that BroganMc's stories are even more entertaining when told in her own voice. GM was sporting his latest mohawk, complete with pixie dust. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me and it was too dark to use DH's phone camera.

As expected when we got into the MK the crowds were thick and moving through them was nearly impossible but we managed to get where we needed to go. We caught bits of the parade as we made our way through the park to the Haunted Mansion. The new interactive attractions along the queue area at HM are great! I also like the feeling that you are walking through the graveyard rather than past it. Very well done! We also managed to get on BTMRR and POC with little to no wait. We then worked our way back through the crowds towards the front of the MK and found a spot to watch Wishes and then headed back to VWL.

The theme for this trip is lots of R&R so we're having a lazy day exploring and enjoying VWL and WL. Later today (Friday) we hope to see Davy Jones' in concert at Epcot unless the predicted thunderstorms interfere with our plans, followed by dinner and evening EMH at Epcot.

I met them too!! I the MK, Grandpa had just gotten his mohawk done and I was beyond excited to introduce myself to them both! It's often hard enough to spot your own family member in the park, but when you recognize a DISer, that's pretty cool stuff :cool1:
