I may have missed it - have we already discussed Charlie Sheen?

I must admit it - I am floored. Just when I think I really can't be speechless because I've seen and heard it all, it sneaks up on me!

Apparently Charlie Sheen has joined forces with a group of conspiracy theorists who believe the gov't is covering up the facts of 9/11. Fine, he's entitled to his opinion. His opinion includes the gov't - or some part of it- doing a controlled demolition (ie bombs strategically placed throughout the towers) to bring the buildings down. Mr. Sheen does not go on to give a reason for why "they" did this. He also doesn't know why/how Pentagon security could let a plane hit the building. Perhaps Mr. Sheen has never seen the Pentagon? It's not a small place. And even if Pentagon "security" (actually, they have their own police force) shot the plane down, Mr. Sheen should be aware it would have either landed on a neighborhood, or on a rush-hour 395.

God bless America - Charlie Sheen can say whatever he wants. My bone of contention is 1. It's being carried on CNN?, and 2. Based on what structural engineering education is he informed on to make the determination that those buildings were demolished? I'm just baffled, and more than a little concerned that people actually believe this stuff.

So they think someone went and placed bombs in the building in anticipation of the attacks and these people were trusted to listen to the government and hijack the plane and hit them perfectly.

Ummm---okay. Computer models disagree--but hey--whatever floats their boat (which btw I have strategically placed a hole in--so in a bit--it will suddenly sink).

I don't believe it has been discussed. DH was in my office 30 minutes ago telling me about this. What an idiot. Perhaps he is losing it because Denise won't give him another chance.

Notice, I didn't discredit his opinion based on his past drug and prostitute addiction. It took something out of me, honestly. :lmao:

These theories have been around a long time. This month or last months Maxim has an interesting article about it. A lot of people buy into them and they can and the news can run it. Free speech is precious, even if I don't like what people say. Besides, on the very off chance there is a point to be made here maybe they should be allowed to back what they want without ridicule? I watched TV that day and I saw what happened live and will never forget it. My mind is made up and was when I saw the second plane hit.

BUT that is not to say that some theories are interesting. I believe in the Tooth Fairy more than I do the magic bullet.

Is 'Two and a Half Men' losing viewers to AI? Maybe this is his jumping on Oprah's couch, fighting with Brooke Shields, right before the release of War of the Worlds publicity stunt to boost ratings.

Edited to add: Is Hilary Duff still single?

The same free speech that lets him discuss these theories also allows others to ridicule, ya know?

Anyway, haven't heard the theories and I am kind of afraid to now!

I also heard he was reported as saying that the planes that crashed into the world trade center did not look like any comercial airplane he has ever seen. He was trying to imply that they were government planes. It all sounds crazy to me. I would love to hear why he thinks our government would do this?

Yes it does. Don't you just hate when that pesky "free speech" thing works both ways???? ;)

There's no arguing with conspiracy theorists, they always KNOW they are right (based on things none of the rest of us can detect). There are still people who believe FDR knew the Japanese were going to bomb Pearl Harbor, but he let them demolish half our navy so he could get us into WWII. (Like if we'd been prepared and not off guard, we wouldn't have had a reason to go to war???)

I know Charlie's dad Martin is very left wing, but this "theory" is way past left, it's off the map!

Yeah, that, and the people(Cheney, Powell, Bush, Rice, et. al.) who "knew" Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and used that information to get us into a war. We're still suffering with those conspiracy theorists.
Paranoia will destroy ya.

Hey, just as I wouldn't associate the KKK's conspiracy theories with the Right, we Lefties give no weight to what Charlie Sheen says...he's just one guy talking.

I don't mind riducule per se but sometimes, here, and not in this thread unless Mr. Sheen reads the DISBoards and that would shock me, people call names and laugh as a form of shutting people up. They call people with complaints whiners or worse. It's a form of control and it has always really bothered me.

Now you've done it, shortbun...I've got the Kink's The Destroyer" rattling around in my head...

"Met a girl called lola and I took her back to my place
Feelin’ guilty, feelin’ scared, hidden cameras everywhere
Stop! hold on. stay in control

Girl, I want you here with me
But I’m really not as cool as I’d like to be
’cause there’s a red, under my bed
And there’s a little yellow man in my head
And there’s a true blue inside of me
That keeps stoppin’ me, touchin’ ya, watchin’ ya, lovin’ ya

Paranoia, the destroyer.
Paranoia, the destroyer"
