So i picked up the heavy whipping cream on Fri and made it that night since it has to sit over night, got up around 630 the next morning to set it out directions said use a glass loaf pan and I was afraid it would break if I put it in the oven cold.
Now the recipe calls for 12 slices of bread, I only used 8 but then didnt think about needing to lessen the liquid part of the recipe :rolleyes1 yea not good, I had to bake it twice as long BUT it did taste just as good as Disneys in the end although it looked aweful! :confused3 Thats me, I can make it look good just dont look at it.

Next time I will use the 12 slices instead of 8, I didnt think the 12 would fit but it would have if I would have..

I'm going to try that sometime - I saved the recipe, but I don't think it's a good mix with Weight Watchers right now (well, unless I don't want to eat for the whole rest of the week --or month)!

Sounds like you did good!

Guess I'll have to make it at home too, I was so looking forward to getting it this trip, so sad it's gone.:sad2:

Yep---they eliminated it from the menu at the the Main Street Bakery. :sad2: There was a thread on this board recently about it---I would try to find it for you, but I have NO CLUE where the search function is now!! :rolleyes1

Yeah, what's up with not having a search button?

I guess since it never seemed to work, they finally decided to get rid of it! :badpc:

That's unfortunate. I spent a lot of time using that search button and actually, if you went into "Advanced Search" I was able to find what I needed a lot of time---threads from months ago! Oh well, I'll just spend my time scrolling through pages now instead. :surfweb:;)

I would love to have the receipe if someone can either post it or PM me with it!!!

I was really hoping that it was just a rumor that it was gone, I was soooo looking forward to trying it! Can someone pm me the recipe please?

Sounds yummy! Do you know where I can get the recipe online? I have a couple Disney cookbooks- I guess I should look there first.

French Toast Loaf

Main Street Bake Shop
Magic Kingdom

(Courtesy of Scott)

YIELD: 1 Loaf

Ingredients:

12 slices day-old white bread (preferably a homestyle white, not Wonder Bread
type)

8 oz. butter (chilled and sliced)

Brown sugar batch:

9 oz, light brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together and set aside.

Batter:

10 oz. heavy cream
4 large eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together and refrigerate until ready to use.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Method:

Liberally spray a loaf pan with Pam or other vegetable spray. Layer three slices day old bread on bottom of pan. Sprinkle 1/3 brown sugar mixture on top of bread, then layer 1/3 of the butter. Repeat these steps two more times. Top off with three more slices of bread (should have a total of 12 slices of bread). Press down with hand to compact bread into loaf pan.

Slowly pour 16 oz. of batter over top of loaf, covering completely. This may take a little time, to allow it to fully absorb into bread and flow into spaces at bottom. (Take
your time here and pour into corners. Lift bread at corners a little to get into bottom quicker if you want.)

Place loaf pan on some paper towel in case of overflow. Cover top of loaf with parchment paper and wrap top tightly with aluminum foil. Place in refrigerator and allow to sit overnight.

Heat oven to 325º F. Bake for approximately 1 hour or until internal temperature in center of loaf is 160 degrees. Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes. Place a plate on top of loaf pan and invert to remove from pan. Cut into 7 slices and serve"

Thanks for the recipe. That sounds fairly easy. I may make that this weekend. I've never had the WDW version, so I can't be disappointed. ;)

Thank you!!!!!

I made it for Christmas morning a few months ago. I used bakery bread and cut the slices myself (surprisingly evenly, I might add). It was wonderful. A pity I never got to compare it to the real thing, since they dropped it from the menu less than a month before I went...

I really want to make this too, I never tried the real thing so I guess I won't know if I messed it up. My husband made the Garden Grill potatoes over the weekend. They came out awesome, but the recipe made enough for us to serve 12 people! I think I'll try this one this weekend. Thanks!
