I love the new American Girl doll of the year!

DD saw her this morning and thinks Kanani is beautiful. She is interested in Hawaii since her Aunt and Uncle live there.
I told her to start saving her money, but if she still is interested I may get this one for her birthday.
DD is 11 BTW and still loves her AG dolls.

My dd (11) used her Christmas money and bought an AG doll just a few days ago. We found one that kinda looked like her but has brown eyes. My dd has hazel eyes. Kanani REALLY looks like my dd!! Wish we had waited now. But I think I'll be getting Kanani for her birthday in March.

Every so often American Girl will do a segment on QVC and they sell collections. I think that last year they did Felicity & Elizabeth, Josefina and I know they did Chrissa the previous year. I can't remember if they did a Lanie special last year or not. I think they are priced at a bit of a savings but I can't remember exactly and I also think that they did less segments this past year than they did the year before. They usually let us know when they are doing a special on QVC because we end up getting a lot of questions about it at the store.

They did Lanie as one of the packages this yr on QVC. It was the Lanie doll, and extra outfit and her accessory set (the tiny rabbit and her laptop and case). It was about $130 and was on Easy Pay which was nice.

QVC typically has done their specials in the summer if I remember correctly. I have only seen AG doll on once per year, but I could be mistaken.

We went today and bought kanani her hair is so pretty and long. Also all the doll prices went up from 95$ to 100$

I just ordered 2 of them for my 2 DD's (ages 8 & 10).... they each got a $30 AG gift card for Christmas from family and they had money saved up from birthdays and Christmas.... I paid the tax & shipping. (We live an hour away from an AG store but to get there is the biggest pain in the tush, so I paid the $20 shipping since I would probably spend that in gas $ to go! LOL!) :)

We went to the AG store today and it was so hard to leave there without a Kanani. :) She is so pretty. We made doll sized leis and were given matching grass skirts and a Kanani poster. The vibe in the store was pretty awesome. Can't wait to go back!

I told DD that if she could save half the money for her, we would go get her. She's already figured out how many weeks of chores that will take. :)

She is a beautiful doll.My 6yo for Rebecca for Christmas.I showed her Kanani and she is hooked.I am planning on gettingi t for her 7th birthday and a trip the the nyc store

I bought Julie with her bike and an extra outfit on QVC in the fall on easy pay for my 5 year old granddaughter. She will be 6 this month. I gave it to her for Christmas and Julie goes everywhere with her, and to bed. She loves her. I have to watch for the QVC show again. I love easy pay. Kanani is beautiful and I love her Hawaiian outfit. I am so pleased with the quality of their clothes and dolls. Now I need to get a second job! The doll clothes cost as much as clothes for a kid!!

My DD 8 loves her. She woke up New Years day and rushed to the computer to go to the site and see her. She was so excited. I ordered her that day for DD's birthday in January. I think American Girl did a great job with the Girl of the Year this year. I think she's going to be very popular.

Thanks for the info on here Kanani is really pretty!

I have a 5.5 year old daughter who keeps saying she'd like an American Girl doll (she has the Disney Doll from World of Disney and two of the Princess 16 or 18" dolls from there too). So I'm really wondering whether getting an AG doll is worth it....or if I should wait another year or two.

Right now she is much more into "Barbie" dolls, than larger dolls ... but that comes and goes...she seems to play with something for 3-4 weeks and then switches to something else for another 2-3 weeks, then something else, etc, etc.

I think 5 is old enough for an American Girl doll. I know every kid is different, but they are the only thing my DD has never gotten bored of. She is turning 9 this month and still plays with them all the time. In fact, her interest increased as she got older.

Thanks!! That is good to know. I'm thinking I may do that for Xmas 2011. That way she is a bit older and hopefully I can take advantage of any end of year sales/QVC, if they have them.

Does anyone know if they can run out of a doll? I really like the theme of this year's doll but if I wait until Nov/Dec to buy, could they run out?

When my DD was 3 we went to the AG store in Chicago over Thanksgiving while we were there visiting relatives. We just went to look as I knew nothing about AG at the time. DD was in awe of course :lovestruc and wanted one terribly but 3 is too young, so she got a miniature Molly doll and a promise that when she turned 7 she'd get an AG doll.

That summer we went to Disney and she discovered the My Disney Girl dolls. Well, when she got home she got a package from "Mickey" (aka Mommy) that had a Disney Girl in it and said "Sarah, this Disney Girl needs someone to love and take care of her. Promise me you'll be good to her." Once we opened it I told her that if she could show me that she can take very good care of her doll she'd definitely get her AG when she turned 7.

The disney girl doll to this day has her own bed in DDs room and is as immaculate as the day she arrived, though she's been played constantly. For Christmas this year all DD asked for was her AG doll because she's 7 now :) She was not disappointed.

I think it depends on the maturity level of the child. AG dolls are very expensive but if the child is going to play with and take care of it nicely I say go for it, they are wonderful dolls.

I love your story!!! Thanks for sharing.:thumbsup2

We love her because she's got a paddle board and so do we! My DD turns 8 this week - it's too late to get it shipped here but I think I'll just get her the paddle board set and skip the doll for now. She is pretty and looks like DD, but between both DD's we have about 8 dolls and they barely fit in their room anymore!
