I love the decor at BLT I think that the designers did a great job!

I understand that some of you prefer traditional, etc., and don't like modern but why are you so vocal about it? You don't have to stay there, so why is everyone complaining so much?

I agree. It fits the theme of TC. People complain about AKV too (too dark, too remote, etc). But again, it fits the theme, why the negative comments?:confused3

Personally, I thought the decor at BLT was VERY NICE!!!! I might not choose that for my home, but as a vacation spot, it's perfect!

JMHO!

1. I find the rooms in the deluxe Contemporary to be very modern. Bay Lake Tower's rooms look a little more tacky, IMO, yet fail to capture the homeliness of other DVC accommodations.

2. After BLT was announced, many people were excited and others were neutral/upset about some things. Personally, I'm irritated that the Top of the World lounge is just for DVC members staying at BLT because Disney is using the nostalgia value of the name to excite people yet limiting access to very few people. I am also not a huge fan of the room decor (wish it was a little more closer to the deluxe Contemporary). Just as people have the right to be excited about BLT, people have the right to be upset with some things. There would be no discussion if everybody who posted was satisfied with everything.

It is very beautiful in person. We saw the model this week and loved it. The pictures don't do it justice.

Easy, because it's new.
Pretty much every time they open up a new resort it has its detractors.
WLV & AKL were too dark.
BCV's were too "pastelly"
SSR was too large and spread out.

We're dvc'rs, we all have our favorites and we've got to trash talk the new kid on the block (just a little bit). :goodvibes

I was over at SSR Sales Office and had the pleasure of touring the BLT models today! I am very impressed! The designs and colors are bold, not muted for sure. But they convey the "contemporary" looks and designs that one would expect from BLT.

The materials used are fine, the woods, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, smooth cooktop stove are some examples. More from me on this tomorrow when I return home. For now, back to gazing out my 5th floor BWV view room!

You know, IMO the problem is with the name. To me Bay Lake Towers does nothing. Why did they not call it the Villas at the Contemporary Resort. You would then expect it to have a moderm, contemporary feel. There is Beach Club Villas, Wilderness Lodge Villas, Animal Kingdom Villas, Boardwalk Villas, etc. All of the "attached" DVC units are named like the hotel they are attached to except BLT. Why DVC decided to break the mold, I don't understand.

I'm totally surprised at myself... I have yet to see the model, but I love the decor in the pics.

Knock me over with a feather, I never would have guessed.. :thumbsup2

Hey, we were just there, also gazing out our 5th Floor BWV view Room! What room did you get?

I wouldn't be surprised if this is converted to cash only, just like the Attic was. I'm hopeful no one is purchasing BLT with the inkling that they may get this area as a perk for any length of time, if at all.

I went over to visit the models today and was pleasantly surprised at how different the BLT models were from other DVC resorts and I really liked the rooms that they have to see. Altho a bit on the small side for me, I'm sure that someday in the future, I would like to stay there sometime.

On a side note, I also took a boat ride over to Port Orleans to see what's happening at the Treehouses and they seem to be moving along quickly. Now I understand what the DVC people were saying about how they are being put together. If you get a chance, I would recommend a boat ride to anyone who wants to scope out the other new DVC building.

To quote the Disney Files magazine:

Never before has a Disney Vacation Club Resort towered so high into the Florida sky.

We plan on doing that in Nov. when we are there. I have heard they are putting them together in a rather unique way. Also on a side note about your signature: THOSE CHILDREN ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!!

The hype in the Disney Files, with the artists renderings, has me looking forward to staying at BLT someday. I appreciate the decor at Pop Century, and the whimsy of the All Stars, I didn't think I would like BLT, but I do!

I like modern, but my preference in modern is not pop modern - so I'm disappointed in the decor. My husband likes it though, and likes the Contemporary, so I suspect that at some point we will stay over there.

As to why all the fuss, DVC members feel a sense of ownership in all the decisions DVC makes. And expectations for BLT was pretty high. Everyone would like the rooms to exceed their expectations. There are also people who just like to state their opinions - and an opinion of "ugh!" is just as valid as an opinion of "Wow!" Taste is a wonderfully subjective thing. When it comes to color in particular, we have emotional responses. And having opinions - whether pro or con - is fun - we all like to have and state our opinion.

I happen to really dislike the SSR room decor. But if YOU like the SSR room decor, why does my opinion make a darn bit of difference. Do you go to SSR and sit in your room and say "I'd be enjoying this a lot more if crisi liked the decor?" I really hope not.

Honestly, the only DVC rooms I would say I really like are OKW. But I wouldn't say I love them either. I really didn't care for one room style over another. Not a fan of the super-modern lines of the BLT rooms, but it won't deter me from staying there. Of course I would like my SSR rooms better if crisi did!:lmao:

I am not a modern person but it is great that DVC has an additional style for those members who find it to their liking.

The worst thing they could do is to just mimic another DVC resort’s style.
