We go to DLR more often than WDW nowadays. We live in AZ and our son is in Santa Monica. So it's about a 5 hour drive for us.

We own at VGC for that reason, and have used the 11 month window for busy, long trips like during the 1/2 Marathon.

But with on line booking, a couple of months ago right when my wife was saying how she wanted to visit our son in July, I checked, and after about a week a studio at VGC opened up. So I booked it for the beginning of the week. This was about 2 months ago that I made the reservation.

This led on these boards to some discussion of how on line booking affects wait lists, since two members here posted they had a studio wait listed for the nights I got on line.

Well, it just happened again. I just added a night to our reservation. July 4, so we can fight the crowds to see the fireworks! Plus, since both the original reservation and the added day are both within 7 months, I didn't even have to use VGC points, which we treat like gold for those hard to get dates.

There is still a studio showing open for July 3, 4 and 5 btw, even after I booked the 4th.

And, if we had wanted, a 1 bedroom during the week after the 1/2 marathon in the first week in Sep opened up, which would have fit seamlessly with our 1 bedroom for the race, except we are already spending almost a week there and we didn't need the extra days.

We had been on the fence about July 4th, but as my wife just said, it was fate that it was open when I looked, so we grabbed it.

Of course, we could have wait listed that night, but this is so much more fun - it's like winning a lottery or something!

Good to hear online booking is working, I always wondered why this was not offered sooner.

I can't wait to do my first on-line booking Tues for Aulani.

When you wait list online, does it automatically fill it for you or just notify you by e-mail.

Is the on line system user friendly when it comes to wait list is basically my question?

Thanks

I didn't wait list on line. The dates just popped up as open and I booked them when I saw them.

Now, you CAN wait list online - it looks very easy to do - but I've not done that yet.

OK great, thanks for the info. I like the fact there is an online versus calling for every thing you just want to check out.
