I LOVE green onions. They were in a queso dip at a restaurant. Yesterday I saw them all chopped up at the grocery store. What do you put them in? What are some things you make with green onions? I have NO CLUE!! All I know is that they are delicious and I want more .... :)

I've always enjoyed eating a green onion dipped in a little salt. I plant onions in the spring and they are very good raw at the green onion stage. Some people call them spring onions as well. They are also good in stir fry.

I love green onions but hate all others......strange, I know
I add them to all kinds of things:
Eggs, especially veggie scrambles or omelettes
Hashbrowns
Sandwiches, especially sub style
Pizza, especially an all cheese
Green salads, chinese chicken salad and asian coleslaw
I include them in my steak marinade as well as my soy sesame salad dressing
Wrap the stem with a piece of salami and cream cheese or ham and cream cheese or heck, just about any deli meat and cream cheese
Toss on top of cottage cheese
They go great with anything you would also add garlic too

I made shrimp pad thai tonight that I topped with green onions.

They are also good on baked potatoes (with butter and sour cream) and in salads. (I put them in spinach salads)

They are good on top of a Mexican casserole (when it is done baking/cooking) or in a seven layer style taco dip. :thumbsup2

I have no idea what they're called, but take slices of deli ham, spread softened cream cheese on them, and roll up a green onion in them. Refrigerate for a while, then slice them into little pinwheels. yummy

One of my favorite things to put them in is fatoosh, a Lebanese salad. Tomato, green pepper, cucumber, green onion, lemon juice, olive oil, sumac, salt, and a sprinkling of pita chips. Mmmm.

There's a dip I make with a lot of green onions in it. It calls for a jar of dried beef chopped up, 8 oz sour cream, 8 oz cream cheese, a teaspoon of Accent, and a bunch of green onions. YUMMO! That stuff goes as quickly as I can put it out.

I've never heard of a jar of dried beef. Like beef jerky?

I will eat them sprinkled on top of sour cream on top on a baked or microwaved potato. They also can be called spring onions or scallions in case you are looking for recipes

My local farmstand has had some great green onions lately and I've been adding them to everything. I've been making one dish that DH calls my "seasonal vegetable surprise." :lmao: The surprise is that he never knows what veggies I'm going to bring home from the farmstand.

I just chop all the veggies and saute them in a bit of butter or margerine and add a tsp of a mixture of salt, different peppers, garlic powder and a pinch of brown sugar. With green beans, I blanche them first--everything else just gets thrown in the pan and is quickly sauteed. Last night, I used red onion, green onion, corn cut off the cob, cauliflower in very small pieces, red pepper, and mushrooms.
