You can wake up in the morning and randomly go to Disney.
Or the beach
or any theme park around here
No snow :thumbsup2

I love Florida too. But I'm up farther north so not so much Beach going. I also like people to know that there is more to Florida than just beaches and theme parks.:cool1::cool1: Not than either of those are bad things.

I'm a born and raised Floridian so I'm very proud of my state.

I love Florida too. I am taking my kids and parents to my wife's grandparent's place in FL in a week. We travel at least twice a year down there other than to WDW. Gotta look in to other "options". :)

Florida holds special memories for me. We visited my grandparents in North Miami every Christmas.

I would rather shovel snow in the winter than bear the heat of Florida summer. Someday, I may be a snowbird and go half and half. best half of each state.

Oh yeah well I get to wake up and... uh.... *looks around Denver* Turn on the heat?

Oh wow-me too. I'm in my second year of living here and my only regret is that I didn't come sooner! I was thinking about it this morning and even if I knew before I came that I would get laid off from my work at home job and be grateful to have a temp job that pays half as much I would not make a different choice. The close proximity to family, the weather and the ability to "pop on over" to Disney after work or on a weekend afternoon is WORTH IT.

I would rather shovel snow in the winter than bear the heat of Florida summer.

I'm from upstate NY and have shoveled my share of snow.

I have also survived the several FL summers.

Al I can say is that I don have to scrape heat and humidity off my windshield.

But seriously....there are similarities.

In NY...I didnt go out in the winter as it was too much hassle and too cold.

In FL....I dont go out in the summer as it is too hot and I sweat through my clothes before I get to the car.

In NY...I had to start my car early to warm up or my hands would stcik to the frozen steernig wheel..

In FL...I have to start my car early or my hands will blister from touching the hot steering wheel.

In NY...we had nor'easters which would make everyone crazy and they would empty the grocery store shelves.

In FL...we have hurricanes which make everyone crazy and they empty the grocery store shelves.

In NY...we had autumn which is the most glorious time of the year. Cool days....cooler nights....apple picking.....cider donuts....dressing like the LL Bean catalogue.

In FL...we have the beach and Disney World.

Florida wins.

You're right, Kevin-living in Florida is like living in the Northeast, but backwards. We hibernate in the summer instead of winter. I was worried about how I'd survive my first Florida summer since I'm really not a hot weather fan, but I did just fine. Central air is a beautiful thing.

We can still dress like the LL Bean folks for about a day or so in January and February and I can have apples shipped from NY if I really need a fix. I'm still not shoveling anything or scraping anything and I don't need a 4 wheel drive truck to get out of my driveway.

New York has decent weather for about a month. The rest of the time it's cold, wet, cloudy misery. Some people love the winter, and they can have it. As soon as life allows I'm moving to Florida. Hot summers over cold winters every time! Opinions vary and this is mine. :thumbsup2

I would give anything to move to FL from Michigan. We have great summers here (will live on Lake Michigan which is the size of a small ocean with surf and beautiful sandy beaches, we have 2 boats and love all things summer), but they last 3 months (June, July, August, sometimes Sept. and Oct. are decent, not this year!) My DH loves boating so I think we would need to move to Tampa or Cocoa (somewhere close to I4 fo I could shoot over to WDW for the day). I have looked a lot in the Tampa area, Bradenton, Sarasota, and they all seem great. Problem, DH has business roots here in MI, a lifetime of networking, and doesn't want to start over at 41 in a different town. My next best hope, more frequent trips (at least 2 a year, 1 being Disney) and early retirement when we can spend longer parts of the year there. I would like to encourage my kids to go to college in FL so we would have more reasons to be there. I like hearing you Floridians appreciating your climate and state, you should, we had 109 inches of snow here last year! I love the snow in December for Christmas, but after that it's terrible. Southern CA seems like a great climate, but can you say 'too many people there'! FL has more of the midwestern mindset I'm used too. And it has WDW! Go FL!!!

I'd be good with snowbirding. Just wish I could start the migration now, instead of when I'm too old to enjoy it!

Thanks for the compare and contrast, Kevin. Makes a lot of sense.

In NY...we had autumn which is the most glorious time of the year. Cool days....cooler nights....apple picking.....cider donuts....dressing like the LL Bean catalogue.

I guess if you do want this, just take a week vacation in New England in the fall. Come to Maine and I will throw in a lobster.

Everytime I visit my friends in Tampa or visit WDW,it's like pulling teeth to get me on the plane back to Mass.

Um Yeah!!! That is just why we moved here. :goodvibes

I survived moving to FL in July and belive me it was way better than snow and yuck for 6 months. whoo hooo bring it baby!! I can do 90 like a champ now. However this 80 and cool breeze thing is really nice!! Esp during Thanksgiving week. he he he

The only thing I didnt consider was the hillbilly factor but I am working on that. I can now drive under 50 and say yall in a sentence.

oh, there are hillbilly's every where you go, MI, FL, etc., I could get over that, they just have different accents!
