I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Submitted my passport renewal application online on Monday, received shipping notification today.
Also submitted our daughters’ new passport applications on Monday (post office). I’ll update on that timeline.
My husband needs to renew his, but I am unsure about the digital photo. Any tips so it doesn’t get rejected?

Looks like tons of new stuff.
600$ FHR Credit (it looks like it reset). I haven't tried this.
400$ Resy Credit 100$ Quarterly
Digital Entertainment up to 25$ a month
Uber One Credit (I guess I can use this once my Delta One expires).
Saks Credit is still there, Same with clear
200$ Oura Ring Credit
300$ lululemon credit (75$ a quarter).
It doesn't look like the sax or airline credit reset.
Yes the FHR credit did reset. I booked a cheap date for next year with FHR before 9/18 and the $200 credit hit. Yesterday I looked and I see that I now have a $300 credit to use.

I went to Lululemon in Disney Springs last night to purchase a few $75 GCs. I was with my BFF who was doing the same. The cashier syas, “Oh is this for the Amex thing?” and we said yes. Apparently we weren’t the only ones that day 😂 He asked us if it was every month and we explained it was every quarter. He thought it is was cool!

I'm bummed the Resy credits are US only, was hoping to use them abroad.

Me too! I have decided I will start checking with Michelin Starred restaurants are on Resy and crossing those off the list. I was happy to see that the L’Atelier Joel Robuchon was on there and in Miami. We ate at the Joel Robuchon in Las Vegas some years ago and it was simply amazing. So that experience has spurred me on to embrace these Resy credits and add a new bucket list to my retirement goals. Christmas Markets and Michelin Starred restaurants on Resy :rotfl:

Back from my first ever cruise. I wasn't sure I'd like a cruise but now I'm hooked. I was on NCL which has a great product for solos - lounge, M&Gs, group dining reservations, no/low supplement. I really enjoyed it. Best part was the itinerary - London, Bruges, Amsterdam, 3 ports in Norway and 3 ports in Iceland. I also think I want to go back and do a land tour of Norway - my favorite stops of the trip.

Flights over to London on AA biz booked through Alaska 55K miles; back on United economy 30K miles. Best part it was from and back to home airport with no positioning needed.
saving this b/c I"m interested in the solo options you utilized...

I had a question about booking a car rental thru my cc portal (cap1) for my ds...here's my dp- it worked fine! I booked it in his name (was worried they'd require a cc in my name etc to pick up bc of that) but no problems at all, I guess when it's booked fully on points it doesn't show a cc # on res that needs to be used for rental (I've rented in the past, and they're fussy about that cc,the drivers name etc) so if anyone is looking to do the same it worked out fine.

Does anyone have any experience with something like this? We have a 12 hour layover in Japan coming up, to which we are planning to go out and do some shopping. I am assuming our large checked bags will not need to be picked up and re-checked in, since this flight is JAL booked under one ticket (departing Ho Chi Minh to Tokyo, then Tokyo to San Fran, under JAL). That's my first question, is that assumption correct, that I don't need to worry about our checked bags at all, even for that long of a layover?
My other question is, once we fill up another (carryon roller sized bag) after shopping for the day, are we able to check in this second luggage at JAL counters, even though we'll each have a bag already checked/passed through? They allow 2 pieces per person, so that's not an issue. I've just never tried to check in another luggage during a layover. Is that even allowed? (Even though it'll be a smaller roller, it will have liquids in it, so it needs to be checked.)
I'm thinking I may need to call JAL to ask this, but if anyone has any feedback or if you've done something similar (even in another country), I'd appreciate any info!

Applied for a DL card and got the popup so went ahead and cancelled my gold card since it won't matter at this point. I'll keep an eye out for NLL or I'll upgrade one of the DL cards I have now when I close the plat.

Have an Ink I can close soon so I'll fo that and then go for a new Ink sometime in the next few months.

The instructions are pretty easy to follow, I just had one of my coworkers take my picture; white wall in front with lots of natural light, I think it's easier to submit a digital photo because the website will scan the photo to make sure it meets the requirements.

Are your kids still under 16, so still getting child passports? My kid is 16 and can get an adult passport but I hate to have to send his original documents.

They are 14 (child passport) and 17 (adult passport) but has to apply in person with one parent and have their ID! I couldn't believe she had to present her DL. I figured that her birth certificate and valid passport where enough. The lady said that many 16 YO show up without an ID and can't process their adult passport.

A 16 yo can get an adult passport but still needs to apply in person for that first adult passport. You'll still need to bring in the originals and I believe they do send them off.

I know. My kid was born in another country so has a certificate of citizenship which i hate to part with (even temporarily.) I never understood why the current passport isn’t accepteD as ID or proof of citizenship.

It is though. If you have a passport you sent that in, not birth certificate.

I need some advice…DH and my credit score has always been above 800 and I haven’t paid much attention to it. In the past couple of months we’ve been switching our credit cards around. When I went to apply him for the CSR I noticed his had dropped quite a bit last year. We didn’t open any new accounts, actually paid off an auto and DVC loan, and we pay off credit cards every month. DH had one credit card in his name and it got hacked last year and we closed it. We had intended to open another one in his name, but kinda forgot about it. My credit score hasn’t changed at all. Would this be why his credit score dropped?

He was approved for the CSR. We were putting everything on it to hit our sub, and now his score has dropped again because he’s using too much of his spending limit. So now we are putting very little on it and just mainly using mine.

Now we would like to open a United card. I was going to open it in my name, but just curious, would it hurt or help DH’s score to open another one in his name?

This is a known issue when you pay off longer term loans. Your credit score is looking at the mix of debts that you have, how well you pay them off, etc. Now that the DVC loan, car loan, and closed card aren't in the mix, there's less for the system to take into account when giving that score. It's counterintuitive, but true, that paying off big loans hurts your credit temporarily. In the future, if a card gets hacked, have them just send you a new card number, don't close it outright, unless you really no longer want that card. That would have helped his current dip somewhat, but not totally given the two other paid off loans.

For the United card, yes, it would give him more in his credit mix, but it would also be two applications in a really short window, right? So the benefit of having the card may outweigh the cost of new credit being opened so close together. Just having the CSR open for a while and having good payment history on that is going to help bump things back up.

Is there a loan you intend to open in the near future where his credit score is of particular concern right now? Because if there's not, I'd ride on the CSR and give it some time to rebound. Do the United card in your name as planned, then maybe do the next one in his when you're at the next SUB.
