I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Im still a night owl even at my age.. I get myself into trouble because of it. All my best ideas come at night... you know open 8 credit cards and buy DVC type stuff.
Yeah....I really wonder sometimes what kind of amazing things we're all missing out on, since I've been enforcing a 10PM bedtime for myself for 10+ years.
I have to wake up at 6am (hence the 10PM bedtime) and it takes me until 9-10am to "wake up, then I hit a wall at like 3PM. Then at like 9PM, my brain is like "do all the things!?!"

Flights delayed so we'll see how this all goes 😂 AA has a later flight for decent miles that I may book if I feel like I need to. Has 3 seats. Traveling home is always such a pain as I just want to be there already.
I always plan my travel so carefully, then by the time I'm at my last layover I'm like "get me home." I lucked out a couple years ago with a confirmed change to an earlier flight home. I walked through immigration, customs, and to the airline kiosk, confirmed the seat (a middle seat, but a couple traveling traded me for an aisle) then pretty much walked right onto the flight.

It's been a couple of years since I tried to book with Flying Blue. I remember that the flights would come online and at first they were asking for a crazy amount of points (like 300K) and then within a week it would drop.

Anyone know how long it takes them to drop the prices now? I've been watching for a week and it's not moving.

I found it was just a day...last week I was pricing things out for a trip next May and they wanted 1.4M miles :scared1:...I spent the entire day freaking out and looking at other places to go, to no avail...then the next day I looked (after almost reworking the entire trip) and viola! it was down to what I'd thought it should be. So...try in a day or so (except weekends, weekends seem higher overall).
Good luck!

ETA---I have to laugh...your definition of crazy is quite different than mine-since mine is 1.4M and "reasonable" is 354K... 🤣
Perspective is everything!

I think the FB saver rates have really dried up, especially from West Coast. I found this thread informative. Link

I noticed my CSR has a spend $600 through the travel portal get $100 back. Has anyone found anything of value through this?

I've tried one trip the spread wasnt good enough for me it would have cost me more The problem is I plan too far in advance. And most of the time, when I look like they did, the point bonus it was more expensive. I do wish that Amex and chase did bookings past 11 months out I know I'm probably in the minority, but I'm always trying to find the best deals.

Well, I thought I was too late when I read your post until I saw that you think that 354k is reasonable. LOL. I need something lower than that! :)

Thanks for the link. I'll go read it now, although I suspect I won't like it. ;)

We've landed and our spot is taken and we have to wait 20 min. Omg. Time to see if I can book that aa flight.

Eta I should have booked it earlier... I didn't want to deal with canceling something.

Eta2 booked a flight for tomorrow morning just in case. It's 417 and boarding starts at 540 so it's still possible.

You aren’t alone…my DH thinks I’m crazy to check the pricing on our flights etc once or twice a day. He says how much are you saving a few dollars…I told him I don’t care I’d rather have it in our pocket.

Finally got our sky priority bags at 555. Did manage to get thr 830 flight on AA to show up again and booked it for 18k miles. Bags free even though I didn't pay with an aa card, was on file so that was good since I don't have that card with me.

Hope your home soon, sounds like a really long day

So I’m trying to figure out timing for one of our days in London. We want to do the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum, and an afternoon tea nearby. I can’t decide how long the two museums will take us so I’m not sure when to book our afternoon tea. I originally thought about doing around 12 pm for the tea but I’m not sure we could do both museums in two hours. We could always do one museum, tea, and then the other museum I guess. I wanted to pre book them all but I’m having a hard time choosing when each thing should be.

Have any of you been to these museums? How long did they take you to get through them?

Landed! Hopefully the bags are quicker here 🙂 Ready for my own bed and to see the boys. Tux is a pain when I'm gone, doesn't always eat breakfast or potty as often as he should. So typical stubborn doxie 😂

I did get some sleep despite it being a really warm flight, thankfully I bought a fleece blanket at DLP. It's the perfect size and thickness for those beds without flat sheets and will pack nicely in a suitcase or backpack. Made a good pillow.

Any museum takes as little or much time as you want but an average of two hours per museum gives a decent overview. This could allow you to visit one institution in the late morning, go for an early tea (depending on the venue it can open as early as 2:00) and then finish your day at the second museum.

Have fun.

I will say, I'm not a huge museum person. My husband IS. Like the kind to read every single thing if he's interested in the content. We went to the Science & Industry in Chicago a few weeks back. We were there for 6 hours and it still wasn't enough. My DH could've probably spent all 6 hours in the U-boat exhibit to be honest, LOL. But I know this about him, and budgeted our day accordingly. We also did the Field museum, which was much like any other natural history museum we've been to (NYC, DC, etc), so we did this in just 3 hours.
So yeah, only you know your families interests and how engaged they may be. While 2 hours may be enough for someone, for us it would be an absolute rush through if it was something unique or different or interesting to us.

I got like 1000 miles back by changing my SW flight a couple weeks ago. Nobody will talk me out of being super excited about that.

I'm not really a museum person. I would say do one museum with tea in the middle, assuming you can find one you like that is nearby. I would need a food break during museum time. If you end up having time to kill, it looks like there are gardens in the area. I'm usually happy just walking around looking at the architecture in cities though.
I would probably schedule one museum for 10 am....tea for 1pm....second museum for 3pm.
If you think you need less museum time, then I would book one museum for 10...the second for 11:30, then tea for 1pm (or whatever time is the earliest). Noon isn't really "tea time" so you may find that makes the decision for you.

Who are you traveling with?

I think it’ll probably depend on ds’s mood. We haven’t done a ton of museums with him so I have a feeling he’ll want to mostly rush through things. I was going to plan the tea for noon but I think I’m going to push it back to 1 or 2 to give us more time and treat it more like a snack instead of lunch. I’m maybe being too ambitious for this day because I was also hoping to visit the Diana Memorial playground.
