I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

I was in Singapore for 6 nights in September. No concrete plans this time, other than to relax by the pool (weather depending) and take ds to some hawker stalls. I'll take him to the top of Marina Bay Sands for a drink at sunset and probably to Orchard Road so he can see how insane shopping in Singapore is! I'd also like to try some chili crab, something I didn't get to do last time.
How long are you in Singapore for? I went to the zoo in September and really enjoyed it. I might go back this time (without ds -- he wouldn't enjoy the humidity and all the walking) to see the giant pandas again!
4 nights, I gotta start deciding what I’m gonna do! (And I adore a zoo outing on big trips so that might go onto my list!) I’m booked Conrad Orchard as Centennial didn’t have points/FNC availability but I may take another look at cash and switching to Centennial. They aren’t particularly expensive hotels so not the best FNC/points use…

… meanwhile the rest of us are out here feeling super optimistic about this years eBay take, sure it didn’t materialize last year but maybe this year 😂
I don't like Ebay. They want a cut. Craigslist for me and I never have to see them again, or ever if I end up just donating to Goodwill.

Plus, I can't help it if the buyer says he's coming and never shows....

they were Christmas gifts a year ago! I hate them. I won't bore you with details, but I have odd amounts on them, due to holds that won't drop off. What else can I do with them? I have $24.80 on two of them and 90 cents on the last (which I will just chock up to a loss). Where can I spend an odd amount?
Amazon gift card?

I do a little ebay on the side, used to do pretty well, but now once I reach $600 in sales, I shut it down for the rest of the year so they don’t 1099 me. I just don’t need that in my life.

So I failed… I posted about applying for DH SWA biz card yesterday and got the dreaded 7-10 day message. So they called DH today to verify his info and I forgot to tell him I did the application and to expect a call. So he tells the lady he would have to ask his wife if he applied and to call him back in an hour. He’s at work and I’m trying to tell him all the figures and other things to say to them to match what I put on his application if they call back. They must’ve thought something fishy was going on. I hope they called back or maybe he will call them since he’s already talked to them now.

Any advice or tips for doing universal Orlando? We’re taking DS for the first time and haven’t been since 2016. We booked a club level room at the Hard Rock on chase for 51k URs. The club level room was cheaper than a standard queen for some reason but I’ll take it! We’re just doing two days and one night, planning to do one day at each park. I have no idea where to eat in the parks

For the IRS it was $5000 for 2024, $2500 for 2025, $600 in 2026. Unless your state has a different threshold.

And a 1099 isn’t that much extra work if you keep an excel spreadsheet. I used to do it when I ran an eBay business.

I have not posted on this thread in a looong time, but I am hoping some kind person could answer this question anyway. I am thinking of applying for the SW Rapid Rewards card. The present offer that expires Monday is $400 statement credit and 40,000 miles after a $4,000 spend in 4 months. Seems good to me.

Question: One of the things the application said was you couldn't have had a bonus in the last 24 months. Is the bonus they are referring to on ANY Chase card bonus or just a bonus from the RR card?

It has been just over two years since I received the Disney card - got the card for a WDW hotel Visa discount. That was the last card I applied for and received from anywhere.

I am considering the Chase Sapphire Preffered in the future. So, I don't want to mess up the Chase 24 rule.

Thank you!!

I’m in Mississippi. They sent me something last year that said over $600 would cause me to receive one and I didn’t want it. We only get W-2’s now so just trying to keep it that way.

It is referring specifically to the bonus on the SW card in your case.

It sounds like the 5/24 won’t be a problem for you. 5 personal cards from any issuer in a 24 month span.

Nope. Amazon is the one that put the hold that won’t drop off then proceed to say the payment was declined on all 3 of them.
Yikes. Amazon has worked for random leftover amounts on Visa gift cards--sorry AmEx is not working.

Ugh I need a new card again asap. Didn’t realize how close this spend was to done.
I have 4 Chase biz. Two of which are well over a year, I could close them both. That would leave two open. My last Chase card was in July. Any chance in heck of a Chase biz approval of any kind?

I’d close what Chase cards you don’t need but give it a 30 day cooling off period after to make sure credit limits fully reset. How about an Amex biz card in the meantime?

Awesome! I just had to check with the experts before I pulled the trigger. Thank you!
The personal SW cards have brand family language so if you had a bonus from any of the personal SW cards in the last 24 months, then you would be ineligible. (Sounds like not a problem for you.)

But it only goes by the brand, other Chase cards don't matter.

For Chase cards, always click on the "Offer Details" link for the specifics. There it is more clear that they're talking about the Southwest cards and not in general.

The product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card who received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. This does not apply to Cardmembers of the Southwest Rapid Rewards Business Card and Employee Credit Card products.

We are considering the Zoo (but for the Night Safari) instead of daytime. Have you been to that? Curious on thoughts. We've been to many zoos, we've seen giant pandas twice in Atlanta, and from the list that I saw online it didn't look like there was anything spectacular to see during the day that we haven't already seen elsewhere. But some of the nocturnal creatures are super interesting and we haven't ever seen them, so I'm kind of interested in trying to fit the Night Safari into our trip. I see that it's kind of out of the way too... do you need to take a taxi type situation to/from the zoo? Advice welcome, as we'll only have 3 1/2 days in Singapore and trying to make the most of it!

P2 and I both successfully apped Chase bus cards end of Nov and then beginning of Dec. In both cases, we had closed cards so that we only had 2 bus open and it was our second Chase bus app of the year.

P2 sounds closest to your case. He had 3 Chase bus open as of November, he SMed 11/24 to close one. He apped 12/8 and was instantly approved. (His first Chase app of the year was also July, coincidentally.) My original plan was to wait longer for him to apply, but we hit my 3k bus spend WAY TOO FAST and were already ready for the next card, so we took a chance.

Not sure if any of the DPs about the Chase lock down include references to braded cards, though. We've both been doing Inks since 2022 and newest apps were SW cards to start our double CP household for 2025-26. So, not sure if the fact that they were SW cards matters to the new algorithm.
