I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

A Cdn company offers 1 day trips (6:30am departure with breakfast on the plane, lunch in the tundra buggy and dinner in Churchill, followed by return flight). They are only a few years in business but reviews seem positive. Price goes up each year and all departures sell out (bonus no single supplement). I'm 90% sure I'm going to book, I'm just trying to digest the price.

Which company are you doing the Norway cruise with? Hopefully you get a few days in Stavanger to do some hiking!
Cool on the Churchill day trip. My plan is for 4 days in Churchill with 2 days of tundra buggy bear spotting. My plan is all DIY due to most tours having high single supplements.

My cruise is on NCL. No single supplements. I got a solo balcony. Not doing Stravanger unfortunately. Norway ports are Bergen, Geiranger, Alesund. I’m already thinking of a second trip that is land based.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

We did not make ANY plans for 2025 or beyond :faint:... yet!!

We plan on listing our house in NY for sale, ASAP, whenever it is ready, hopefully by spring (4/1).

We are currently in Miami where we have been wintering every year since COVID lock down. Once we sell the house in NY, we will move to Miami permanently. We are flying home to NY from MCO in about 2 weeks to de-clutter the house and look for an agent to do a walk thru and give us their opinion on the price range and its desirability and what work (if any) it needs.

We spent this past summer working on the outside - tree trimming, power washing, roof cleaning (moss), etc. We still have some to do when the weather gets warmer... Everything got pushed off the last few years.

But now we need to get rid of all the accumulated stuff inside the house. I had started selling my old trashy novels that I use to read (when I use to have time to read) on eBay. Whatever doesn't sell by spring will go to those for-profit donation centers or in the recycle bin. Not many places take donations of novels that are 30+ years old. They all want recent novels, even the libraries. While the libraries will take books to sell at the books sales, you have to donate them at the right time, right before the sales because they don't have the space to hold them until the next sale.

My goal is to book a trip or cruise the moment we either finish de-cluttering and/or listing the house for sale. Ideally, we list the house and leave the keys with an agent and go on a quick last minute trip while we wait for offers.

Once we sell the house, we will use part of the proceeds towards our 30th anniversary trip in 2026. :cheer2:

I can't commit right now without knowing how long this process in truly going to take. From experience, everything takes 2-3 times longer than we plan. So, 3 months could become 6 months, or 9 months....

Perhaps we list the house and it goes into contract fast! 🙏🙏 Then we need to really boogie to plan on clearing out the house completely before closing. I just can't have a trip planned until I know the house is ready and hopefully sold... Not having travel plans is killing me but I'm promising myself there is a pot at the end of the rainbow!!
Not sure where you are in NY, but the community we are in homes seem to sell pretty quickly….best of luck with the sale and it is definitely tough getting rid of “stuff” in the house

We are in Northern Westchester, NY. I do believe it should sell fast, unless something happens to the market in the next 6 months.

Clearing the house of clutter and old stuff is truly where the hold up will be! We need to light a match under our butts!

In 18 days Singapore & Japan with ds
late March Paris & Amsterdam
mid-May Lake Como & Lisbon
Halifax, NS in late May for dd's uni graduation -- will book a few rooms at the Delta (Marriott) using 35k FNCs; for my flight I'm going to use points from a Cdn Visa that I churned; will have to figure out something for dd and ds
September / October DCL Hawaii --> Sydney, then flying to Auckland with ds
November considering a 1 day trip to Churchill, MB to see polar bears (will likely put down a deposit soon); this 1 day trip will cost me 2 nights in a hotel because the departure is very early in the morning about an hour from my house and the trip returns very late
December London with ds for Arsenal match; will have to figure flights because AA & ACs point costs are outrageous, but stay will be at the HR Churchill (on points)
January, 2026 Whistler, BC for a week of skiing & snowshoeing (run-off of a timeshare that dh and I had at the Westin Whistler that we relinquished back to the Westin because the maintenance fees were outrageous and we weren't using it any longer, but we get 5 years of stays in week 2 as part of the deal)

All international flights are booked with points, otherwise there is no way I could travel like this.

Singapore we are staying at the Conrad booked on an unbeatable cash rate (stay 4 pay for 3); already upgraded to rooms on the executive floor; already registered for the 2X promo and will pay with my Aspire card
Tokyo I have 2 rooms at the Hyatt House Shibuya (both booked on points)
Osaka I booked 1 room on points and the other with a stay 4 pay for 3 promo at the Conrad
Paris I am paying cash for a small boutique hotel
Amsterdam I have 5 nights at the Andaz (Hyatt points)
Lake Como 5 nights at the Grand Hotel Victoria booked before the HH devaluation on points (went up 20k / night)
Lisbon stay is at the Verride Palacio de Santa Caterina using 3 HH FNCs
Honolulu I booked rooms at the Ka Lai LXR using an early booking 40% off bonus
DCL cruise partially was booked using a bunch of Disney GCs that I have had for years (I'm hoping to gather more over the next several months at 10% discount!)
Sydney I booked harbor view rooms at the PH; 1 room I used my AmEx FHR credit for 2024 that will get free breakfast for ds and I + $100 food credit and the 2nd room I booked using a points + cash rate
Auckland is at the PH (Hyatt points)
Whistler Westin isn't costing me any cash for the 2 bedroom unit (1 bedroom + studio) -- I told ds that he can bring a friend and use the studio
Thinking of where I want to go after these trips and I'm drawing a blank. I can see myself going back to Florence & Bologna at some points, but not sure when. I'd love to get back to Bali at some point as well.
Oooh, I have Singapore this spring. Never been. I look forward to your trip report!!

Can I just share how much I detest Amex gift cards?

That is all. :-)
You’re a brave soul to touch those at all!

It probably will…we are on LI and when I’m going to do anything with our home, I now ask my daughter since I figure if I’m going to sell she’s in the target audience range…

Hello 2025! Thanks for the new thread! Just reading everyone's plans has my head spinning lol.... I've got a blank space where my travel planning brain should be atm  All I've got is 2 weeks later this month in sunny WDW... which is pretty great in itself (thank you various points) but nothing much beyond that. I need to get myself together and plan some family visits! I also think I want to close one of my CiU's I have 2 + CiC and I'm hoping to snag another soon...still haven't even decided on a new cc for some upcoming bills! I need some inspiration!

HNY!

I got approved for the Barclay Aviator card on December 6, I believe. I've been checking the website daily to see if I have a statement yet so that I can set up my payments from the bank. Thus far, the site continues to say "you don't have any statements yet."

Can anyone guess when the closing date on the statement will be? Or is there somewhere on the site that will tell me when the closing date is? I just don't want to miss it.

I opened that as well as the Citi AA Biz (2nd time with that card) to start accumulating AA miles for a Japan trip.

I applied yesterday for DH SWA biz and got the 7-10 day message. I’m assuming that’s not a good sign. I don’t think I could convince him to call them to see. I wonder if he is close to his max chase CL limit. He did just get the SWA personal card in Nov with a $20k CL. Does that matter for the biz cards? He has no biz cards at all, but what doesn’t make sense to me is that he has the green star already approved for both the Ink cards. Make it make sense so I can try and convince him to call them. If he can’t get this card, it really messes up with my CP plans for 2025-2026.

they were Christmas gifts a year ago! I hate them. I won't bore you with details, but I have odd amounts on them, due to holds that won't drop off. What else can I do with them? I have $24.80 on two of them and 90 cents on the last (which I will just chock up to a loss). Where can I spend an odd amount?

Grocery stores are the best at depleting low balances, in my experience. Even the $0.90 will likely run as such. You could do a small order in self checkout for that one if you don't want to have to make eye contact with a cashier when you are charging all of $0.90 at a time. :rotfl2:

I buy all my groceries at Target. I think I have used them there before. Have to see if they still have magnetic strip sliders in the self checkout.

Chiming in with the 2025 travel plans.

Kicking off the year with a weekend trip to NYC. Flights with UTB, using a cat 1-7 FN cert at the Thompson and points for the second night. Used FIND credits for tickets to see & Juliet and also Suffs.

May - long weekend to visit friends in Fort Collins. Flights with UTB funds.

May - long weekend in NYC. Staying at the Hilton Times Square using points. Flights using AA miles there and UTB funds back.

July - Scotland trip. Flights on miles in business class with BA. Hilton points for 4 nights in Edinburgh stay. Radisson points for a one night stay in Aberdeen. Radisson points for a one night stay at the River Ness hotel. We have an additional 2 nights in Portree but are paying cash for that one.

August - JW Masai Mara for 5 nights on BonBlah points. Flights over on Qatar Q suites and back on Air France.

September - tentatively planning Dollywood and the Rockies. Nothing is booked yet so that can change.

December - long weekend in NYC to get my show fix in and a Christmas market or two. Nothing booked yet.

I have no shame! Money is money. Don't forget how often when we used to use cash more often, how if you passed a $50 or a $20 they would ask if you had anything smaller?

I run most of mine (visa) at Costco but if I have small amounts and need to buy something elsewhere not so planned, I will first ask if the system will allow two cards. Most of the time it will.

The Amex gift cards: I always end up with a small value ($25) from a friend and I just suck it up! Hand it through the drivethru until it's gone.

I don't think it’s necessary a bad sign, could be ID verification since it’s his first business card

Thats disappointing @calypso726 - leaving the 5th night free on the table? :P

I was in Singapore for 6 nights in September. No concrete plans this time, other than to relax by the pool (weather depending) and take ds to some hawker stalls. I'll take him to the top of Marina Bay Sands for a drink at sunset and probably to Orchard Road so he can see how insane shopping in Singapore is! I'd also like to try some chili crab, something I didn't get to do last time.
How long are you in Singapore for? I went to the zoo in September and really enjoyed it. I might go back this time (without ds -- he wouldn't enjoy the humidity and all the walking) to see the giant pandas again!

I'm not sure what the closing date would be but you can pay it before your statement posts.

It won't let me quote it as it is from the prior thread that is now closed but this might help.
