I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

UGGGHH! Can't seem to get approved for anything right now. Used to be approved instantly - now just getting denied.

Tried BOA Biz, Chase Ink and now Citi Strat Card. Not sure if I need to go through and start closing some cards to not have so much credit out there or maybe just lowering the credit limits (especially on the Marriott and IHG Cards - I just keep them for the FN Certificates)

Anyone else having this much trouble? Hate not having a SUB I am working on!!

Does it even matter to lower Credit Limits on Biz Cards?
Those are all hard kinda hard to get for active churners. No one knows the current Citi code but they have tightened up, especially on cards like the Premier. BoA Biz DPs with the new AS offer haven’t been rosy either. (Personal guess is both of those are being hit by how many cards you’ve opened in the last year or two and/or HPs.)

Are you doing Amex? Pop up jail is obviously prevalent but if you’re newish to Amex you might have a shot…

My CSR travel credit reset last week, so I booked a refundable hotel, credit showed this morning, cancelled hotel.

SM'd Chase to cancel my CSP.

Will wait until ds and I are back from Japan on February 6th to close the CSR. Then I can re-apply in 15 days? Or is it 30 days? First property tax payment is March 1st and would love to make use of a new MSR, plus doggie has chemo on March 11th and that's another $800 that could go towards a MSR.

How many open Chase business cards do you have? Total Chase CL (personal and biz) might matter too. 50% of income or $70k whichever is less is the rule of thumb, but I try to keep it much lower than that.

For the Citi Strata, how many inquiries do you have on the credit report they pulled? 0/6 is what I've seen recommended.

30 days if you close it. 4 days if you PC to a Freedom.

Finally a credit card approval for me, applied for BOA Alaska Business card 75K Miles $4K MSR.
Had DH apply for US Bank Triple Cash, got the 7-10 day message, hoping for approval. I'm also thinking about applying for the card, but just haven't pulled the trigger.

Congrats! Have seen lots of Alaska biz denial DPs lately. Do you have BoA deposit accounts and have you had the card before?

Our US Bank apps always goes pending with the 7-10 day message. They get approved in 1-4 days for us.

I just closed a few cards today so DH and I will only have 2 Chase Biz Cards open. Will have to wait 20 more days to try and reapply for another INK.

Not sure Inquiries - but I know it is definitely not 0/6.

Yeah - We are both in AMEX pop up jail too...

Is it required to wait 21 days after closing? I closed two inks this month, I will have to check the dates. I have two left, one is a CIP and I really want another. I can actually close another one of them at the end of the month.

I just applied and was denied on January 10th. So need to wait the 30 days before applying again. Hopefully, closing a Biz Card will help.

I tried this with my CSP two weeks back... booked a refundable hotel to make use of the $50 hotel credit. But the credit never came through, so I don't know what happened but the 30 days from AF is approaching, so I just had to cancel the refundable booking for a refund, so I can cancel the card in time :(

I don't think it's known how long to wait after closing. I waited 2 weeks and was approved. I've also seen DP of only a few days. But I think I'll continue to wait 2 weeks to be safe.

I have a checking account, I opened it about 9 months ago in hopes that it would help my approval odds. I have $4K in there. And first time applying for a BoA card.

Anyone have recent trouble (or success) making payments on their Target Circle CC using Visa GC at the customer service desk? I do this all the time and never had trouble, but ran into problems today. Not sure if it's an issue with the specific card I was using or if this isn't working any longer?

I got an approval (for DH). Logged into Delta with his info and on the left it said "offers for you". So, clicked and was going to apply for Delta Gold but the Biz Delta Gold was higher. He did have this card from 2020 to 2023, but figured it was worth a shot as I would just get the Pop-up and then not apply.

But, he was approved!! Yeah! 90,000 miles for $4000 Spend in 6 months. That will be easy to do - maybe by the time I am done with this card, I can get another INK!!

Worked a month ago. Had trouble with a specific card once, but tried again with another.

Can you downgrade a card from the version with an annual fee to the free version without another credit check?

Thanks, last time I successfully did this was about a month ago too. Am planning to try at a different Target later this week and maybe with different Visa GC later too. I confirmed the Visa GC had its balance intact, so that's a relief!

Has anyone been to Cooperstown, NY and the baseball hall of fame. I think next year it's time to finally go instead of just saying I want to go.

I won't spend the whole week there so starting to figure out what to pair it with.
