I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

For those of us who booked Hilton Mystic Dunes in Orlando a week or so ago, on a steal of a deal... I just checked to see if I could edit my room from a 1 BR to 2 BR, and the points prices are WAYYY back up. For the room I booked, instead of 10K it's now 60k/night. Bummer that I couldn't change the room type, but glad I got my reservation in when I did... just hope they don't cancel them! I wish I had booked more nights... lol

ETA: oops, that was 2.5 weeks ago, with the holidays I had no concept of time there for awhile :P

I just checked my 2 reservations and they are still there but I found this statement in the cancellation details:

We reserve the right to cancel or modify reservations where it appears that a customer has engaged in fraudulent or inappropriate activity or under other circumstances where it appears that the reservations contain or resulted from a mistake or error.

Doesn't say they will cancel just that they have the right to.

I think I will book a cancelable backup for the February nights just in case since I'm getting close. I did think it was a mistake or error from get-go, but I still think it will be honored.

Also I booked Deluxe King suite which sleeps 4 with a full kitchen and sofa sleeper plus balcony for February and 2 bedroom for November.

Wow! My 2nd reservation in November is a 2 bedroom just in case someone travels with me. I'm about 5+ weeks away from the first 2 nights I booked. This snow is making me wish I was there right now!

I booked my 2nd trip at 13K points a night.
I actually didn't have enough points left when I booked for a 2BR, so I booked the 1 BR, put some spend on my Amex to get the rest of the points I needed. Then checked yesterday as soon as the points posted, and unfortunately the points prices skyrocketed (or went back to normal, lol). We only need the 2nd bed for my mother in law, which I guess she could always sleep on the pull out couch in LR.

Please report back after your February trip, and let us know how the place was!!

Man the recent reviews for the Hard Rock at Universal are not very good. I’m second guessing choosing to stay there

Really? What are the complaints? We've stayed there every summer for the last 4 years or so with no complaints that I can remember. We love being able to walk to the parks so easily. We also enjoy the quick food options. We have it booked for this May also.

Lots of 1/5 reviews on google about the rooms being in really poor shape, bathroom toilets leaking, ac not working. I also didn’t realize they’re doing renovations right now. Some people said they heard noise and didn’t have hot water from 10 am-3 pm. We most likely will still keep our reservation because we got a good deal

I will! Cross your fingers nothing goes wrong. I think the hotel will be fine.

On another note have you stayed at Andell Inn (Marriott) on John's Island/Kiawah? They have rooms leading up to my Mystic Dunes stay of 35k (I can use FNC). Since I'm driving it would be an hour plus off the highway but, I think I would do 2 nights and a little beach walking. It's winter with snow here in Maryland and I will take 50ties or 60ties (but off course hope for warmer) and be happy! Otherwise it's a Fairfield Inn on 95 south, lol.

So PayACI doesn't take business cards and Pay1040 charges 2.89%. I might have to use cash! I don't have an MSR and I don't think I have a personal card that's word paying the 1.75% fee on (Freedom, CSR, Amex Platinum, Citi Costco, Hilton Surpass, Amex BCP). The only other thing I can think to do is apply for a Hilton Asprire card and use it two get two FNCs in 2025, but I'm already sitting on two that will expire in June that I have no clue what to do with.

That sounds miserable. GF taught me to stay the heck away from hotels heading into remodel/being remodeled, crappiest Disney hotel room I ever had was a GF room right before the remodel. Are you really dedicated to Hard Rock or there are no decent deals to be had at RPR?

Been trying to keep track of DPs, but things seem to be in flux. Far as I can tell (have not tested myself), biz cards still work on ACI if you go through Paypal. For Pay1040, all Amex personal or biz charges 2.89%, even if you go through Paypal.

If you have time for a new card, a SUB would make sense even if you have to pay the 2.89%.

I’ll give PayPal a shot with payaci. I was wondering about that but wasn’t sure if it was a workaround.

ETA: Paypal worked. I used ds's new Employee Card so I'll get 30K MRs total for $138 in fees. I need a new SUB but I'm very uninspired at the moment.

After 3 calls to verify his identity for SWA biz, DH got a denial letter in his account stating
*too many active accounts or too much available credit.
*number of accounts currently in use.

What should be our next step or is there anything we can do at this point for approval? This is really screwing with our plan for SWA CP.

He has 5 Chase cards, OG Freedom that he’s had for 20 years, freedom unlimited for 10+ years, Slate edge for 3+ years, CSP for almost 3 years, SWA personal he just got 11/24. He has no biz cards at all.

I’m not dedicated to it but it’s definitely a better deal on chase. We got club level for 51k URs. The next one is Portofino Bay which I think is also having renovations and that’s a normal queen room for 65k I believe. Then Royal Pacific is like 71k. I’m not sure it’s worth it to pay that much more for one night

Is his total Chase credit line over 50% of income or $70k, whichever is less? I actually like to keep it much less than that. He can try lowering CL and reapply in 30 days.

The rooms were definitely showing their wear when we stayed a couple of years ago, but it wasn't so bad it would be a deal breaker. Our last stay was Royal Pacific and I liked it a lot better than Hard Rock overall. It's about the same walking distance to Islands as Hard Rock is to Studios, but also has a boat. If you got a great deal for HR, I would stick with it and roll the dice for a short stay. You will not be in the room much.

Thanks that’s what I was thinking too. I think we’ll only be at the hotel to sleep really

Our trip to Hermitage Bay in Antigua is coming up shortly, so I'm excited to report back on that stay, booked through Hilton as part of their new partnership with SLH.

Also, thanks to everyone who gave advice on Alila Ventana for my son's belated honeymoon. They had an amazing time and a VERY nice upgrade to the Pacific House Suite, thanks to @platamama generously sharing GOH status.
🥰 I'm happy that they had a good time!!

I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of Hermitage Bay. I have 5 nights booked there this spring.

pay 1040 is 1.75 aci is 1.85 when you go to the final part the fee is right I think it's just the first page information that needs to be updated, but I am not sure about business cards.

Right. My issue was PayACI rejects business cards unless you use Paypall and Pay1040 charges 2.89% for business cards.
