I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Ugh, I'm so annoyed! I added a Green Chef $10 back from a single $50 transaction on my Amex and placed an order for $52.xx. This morning I see 2 charges, one for $19 something and one for $32 something. So that means I won't get the $10 back. Whyyyy would they process the charge that way?

Just wanted to share our experience in September. We arrived to LHR early Sunday morning and the train we planned to take to our hotel was not running on Sundays. We could have taken another one then transferred to a bus, but with all our luggage that was not an option. The guy at the info desk called us a car, ended up being around $90. In retrospect, I think there was some kind of partnership there, but we were exhausted and just wanted to get to the hotel asap.

That's good to know, my flight lands around 1120 am on a Sunday. I'm solo, so a car from the airport is just too much

RENTAL car question:
In the past, I have always declined insurance coverage when paying with the CSP. Lately, when picking up the car, the agents have on insisted adding liability insurance. One time I got around that by giving my personal auto policy information. Another time it was just a one-day rental so I paid for the liability insurance.

I am renting a car again next week and plan to pay with my CSP. What is everyone here doing when renting and using CC insurance to cover? I know the CSP does not cover liability. Should I just give my personal auto info and not mention "my credit card has coverage."? Is the liability insurance necessary? I read online somewhere that this is EXTRA liability coverage and the rental car company already has some built in - but not sure how true this is.
Is this with a specific company? Most of my rentals are at MCO, and I stick with Alamo so I can skip the counter and not talk to an agent.

I did have a fight a few years ago in the UK with Europcar, he pushed hard to buy their insurance but I refused.

Thank you all for the suggestions! We are booked for 7 nights at the Hilton Park Lane. Very excited for this new location as I saw on the map the Princess Diana playground is nearby and on my to-visit list.

Do you remember which car service it was? $90 doesn't sound too bad. We're a family of 5 with luggage, so I think we'll be booking a car service to city center and then using public transport for sightseeing.

It's with Budget at JAX.

I don't mind skipping the counter to avoid this - but is not getting the extra liability insurance wise? I don't want to pay for something I don't need, but also want to be sure I am protected if something should happen.

You should check your personal car insurance. Most I think provide the liability when you are driving a rental car. If so, no need to buy extra.

First Denial of an Ink Card... Dang it anyway. Only 1 Ink currently open but many other Chase Cards. Now to find something that is not Chase or AMEX and hopefully a Biz Card. Did US Bank 3 Times each, so that is out too. Hmmmm.

I just got the AmEx Hilton card and sat down to book my upcoming trips. Should I go through the AmEx app or the Hilton app? Will I get more points one way vs the other?
Thanks.

We are starting to maybe look at flying to London next year in premium economy (doing a day flight because ds absolutely refuses to sleep on a plane). We’re thinking about flying out of either Boston or New York. Anyone have any experience flying premium economy on this route and which airline did you fly? Thanks!
oops some other people answered didnt realize its been a week since I've checked it mods feel free to delete.

No idea, but I do remember he drove like a maniac and we were glad to arrive at the hotel!

Got an approval email for the US Bank Triple Cash card I applied for Monday (thanks LynnTH for the posts about it). Card will arrive too late for my big January expenses, but I have 180 days to make the MSR.

I applied for this because I had written off the CIC application (that I just got a TIN verification form for). Will be interesting if that comes through also!

I have the Aspire card and always book through Hilton. Not sure about AmEx travel site, but generally the hotel will not allow you to earn points on your stay when using a third party booking site.

I accidentally made 2 flight reservations for the same day and SWA just canceled one. Will AMEX claw back the credit (I used last year's credit to make the first one)

DP on trying to pay Barclays Aviator before first statement to get the SUB. I did an electronic transfer from my main checking acct to Barclays and marked it "Annual Fee and Monthly Payment." I just received a check in the mail from Barclays for that exact amount marked "Annual Fee and Monthly Payment." So that clearly did not work.

ETA: The AF had not yet posted when I submitted payment.

Unclear to me if the AF had posted to the account yet? I was unable to pay more than what was showing on the current balance, so not before the $99 or $95 or whatever the fee was hit the account.

Just looked at DH's new Barclay's Hawaiian card; the AF hit on 12/31 but the first statement hasn't closed yet. I could pay it off now if I wanted. The 70,000 miles are showing in his account.

I paid my Barclays AA card in full early last week and when I look at my account it says: "Important Information: The bonus miles will be issued and reflected on the billing statement after you have qualified to earn the bonus. Please allow 4-6 weeks for the bonus miles to be deposited into your AAdvantage® account." Not sure when the points will post to my AA account, hopefully soon.
