Data point. Approved immediately for SW business card after I closed 2 cards to get to only having 2 open. Companion pass, here we come!I was declined over 30 days with 4 business cards open and have since closed 2 cards, with the last one being closed on 10/28. Going to apply again and see what happened. Fingers crossed!

Closed the first one in Sep and the second one 2 weeks ago.Congrats! How long ago did you close the cards?
Has anyone ever been able to get Amex to move an Amex offer to another card? I stupidly added a Dell offer to my Gold Card right before I got my Platinum card.
Yeah I was trying to stack. Didn’t realize there was no AF in the additional card. I may just forgo it would only save me about $30I've seen DP of people trying, but they got nowhere.
Are you trying to stack with the Dell credit on the biz plat? Not sure if this is worth doing, but you could add an employee card to the biz plat and hope the offer is available there. The Dell credit triggers whether you use it on the main card or an employee card (don't forget to activate it). There's a no AF version and sometimes there are offers for adding an employee card.
I'm not sure how much you're willing to spend but I've purchased three or four XPS 13s (I have an uncanny ability to break laptops). I used to be able to get them for $600 to $800 (I do think I bought a couple from the outlet). They are definitely light weight.Looking for some input on an electronics purchase from Dell. I need a travel laptop (or maybe a Chromebook, whatever that is) that will let me access and edit Microsoft Word documents and also can do simple streaming (like from Netflix). It doesn't need to store much of anything. Bonus points for being lightweight and being able to connect to headphones and a mouse.
Any suggestions? I'm thinking that a very basic laptop would do but I honestly don't understand what a Chromebook is . . .
Chromebook’s run on Google’s chrome OS. Real low end. They are really for those that run web based tasks - basically if you are fine running everything from the cloud. It’s what my kids have from school. They hate them, I hate them. Heck my older daughter got a new one when she started high school, and it still ran like a potato. The number of times they crash while they are in the middle of an assignment is outstanding.Looking for some input on an electronics purchase from Dell. Congrats on the FNC (even better if you didn't have to top it off)I'm looking at booking a quick trip to NYC at Christmas. I found the InterContinental Times Square to book for a night using an IHG cert. DH just got an additional day off so I wanted to book the night before, but it is unavailable for points or FNC . I found I can book it through the Chase travel portal as part of The Edit and get free breakfast and a $100 credit. I also have the offer on my CSR where I get a $100 statement credit if I send $400 on the portal. I am wondering if I can combine this with the $300 annual travel credit which resets on the 15th when my statement closes. I would charge $400 to my CSR, pay about 30,000 points, and then get $400 back in statement credits. Does this seem like it would work?
Thanks! I didn't have to top off the FNC so it was a great deal!Congrats on the FNC (even better if you didn't have to top it off)
I'm confused though about paying 30K points?
The $400 portal charge should trigger the $100 statement credit as unlike capital one's voucher you are charged and then given a statement credit.
If using the annual travel credit you would pay $400 and receive either 300 or 1K CUR points (3x or 10x on portal for the $100 I can't tell if this hotel receives the 10x)
You should then get a $300 Travel Credit, and a $100 Chase Offer credit.
Then you would get the free breakfast and the $100 property credit to use at the hotel as well.
On a side note it appears that you can earn IHG points on that property even when booking through the portal.
Not sure if that is for all hotels or just ones in the edge collection.
The Thompson in NYC was also allowing me to earn Hyatt points.
Sounds like phantom availability. You can search other partners to check if the availability is really there, though I don't know if that's always foolproof.
RE: Alaska award booking
I'll check. It's super annoying though. There was probably a time that I didn't even know what "phantom" availability was and am at least glad that I'd heard of it -- and that I've got other flexible points to figure this out. I could see me completely freaking out if this had happened a few years ago (not that I'm happy, first time getting burned, lol). It's annoying to pay for seats.aero who also lists phantom availability.
It's so weird how far this gets before it's says "oops, sorry". I used my Amex Plat that's stored as a google whatever and I even got the temp $1 charge for each time I tried to book.

When do SW RR for hotel bookings post? When the hotel is booked or when the hotel stay is completed?
Thanks for this. I've been lucky with my current MacBook--it's lasted 6+ years and is still mostly fine. It actually does a lot more than I need it to, which is why I am looking at a Dell. The reviews I've been reading comparing the different Dell models seem to be written for people who want to do gaming or numbers crunching or other demanding tasks, whereas I just want to edit my Word docs. I'm going to try to talk to an IT person at work tomorrow to see if I can sort out what I should be looking for.I'm not sure how much you're willing to spend but I've purchased three or four XPS 13s (I have an uncanny ability to break laptops).
