I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

You absolutely can create or add an employee card to an AmEx online account. And you can add offers to it like any other card.

So you never added your employee card to an online account and you can use either your card or the main card to trigger an offer?

Most reports before that have attempted that were negative. Maybe something changed or there were other reasons for the offer to fail.

Interesting tidbit I'll keep in mind.
That's right, never added employee card and the offer on the main card get triggered anyway. Didn't know it was special, lol

Saw this on FB, no clue how valid it is. But thought I’d share. There’s a comment that someone else was told the same by a rep.

“Update from Chase.
Just called to recon my Monday application (first time calling). Underwriter was very nice, said that my application is not eligible for recon BUT he said it’s for another reason! He said tons of people got denied recently because chase is thinking there was/is some points scam. That they mailed paper letters to everyone, and that letter will have a number to call.
Anyone else get this story???”
This would actually make me feel better about the denial. I did read a report on r/churning that someone was told they couldn't recon but wasn't told about the scam. Will let you know when I get the actual letter, but the one online didn't have any additional information.

Does anyone have experience with applying for a credit card with a "fraud alert" on your credit? My DH applied for a card with BoA, he has his credit frozen, but unlocked all 3 agencies before he applied. He's always gotten instant approvals (doesn't apply for many cards, and never biz cards). From what I've found online, the cc company is supposed to do extra verification to make sure you're really the person applying, maybe by calling you? We have existing accounts with BoA so they should be able to contact him. Should he try calling them?

I'm quoting myself to post what ended up happening. My DH had an email that he was denied for this card after a few days, and that he would be notified in the mail the reason. He waited to get the letter, then called them. Apparently they'd been trying to call him to confirm his identity but something was happening and whenever he would try to answer it would hang up (and he didn't know it was BoA). But, they were finally able to call and confirm after he called them, and he was approved for the card. Weird situation but it worked out. Definitely more of a pain to apply with the fraud alert turned on.

I'm torn between applying for a CSP or a SW Biz. Does anyone know the increased offers are expiring on these?

Also, I'm trying to figure out what the latest would be that my DH could refer me to the SW biz card and receive the referral points this year, which would give him enough for the CP. His current statement ends 11/15, and I'm assuming the Dec statement will end around 12/15. I don't really want to apply for any Chase cards for at least a few weeks to be 3 months out from my last Chase card. Do referral points usually take around 2 weeks to show? What would be the latest that it would be "safe" to apply?

I would definitely transfer the miles, but that's just me. Singapore Air has a fifth freedom route between JFK-->FRA, so if you don't end up going to Singapore you can always use the miles to go just about anywhere in Europe from Frankfurt (it is a major hub for Lufthansa). Singapore doesn't tend to release biz class seats closer to departure -- you have to get the seats you want pretty soon after the calendar opens. You should play with your dates to ensure that you get biz class saver seats.
Singapore Air is one of my favorite airlines. Excellent hard and soft product and they reliably release award seats.
Definitely need to get the saver rate for biz class! We won't book if we can't get saver rate... I think it's 70k URs (or more) that we'd save, and I'm not willing to pay more, haha.
I'm really glad to know we could use the miles to go to Frankfurt as well... since Germany is also on our bucket list for a 2026 trip, lol. So that's a great backup plan we can have in place in case we couldn't make it to Singapore!
I'll have to do some research to see what time the flights actually get released and do some mock bookings and such over the next few weeks to prepare. Thank you so much for the info!! I'm feeling better about moving such a large amount of URs now, knowing there's other options in case something happens.

How many Chase biz cards do you have open? The cobrands seem to be affected by the recent wave of denials as well. 0-1 odds seem good. 2 I don't know anymore. 3+ probably not unless you're in the group who can be approved for more.

The CSP $300 travel credit is reportedly ending 11/14.

Has anyone tried to use the Amex Plat Equinox benefit on spa services? Read a bunch of mixed dps over at FM, but wanted to see if anyone here has actually tried it?

Seems the steps are:
Enroll for 7 day Equinox+ free trial (if that's still a thing)
Amex enrollment (usual benefit enrollment steps)
Book appt online using Amex payment card; billed after service

Lots of fun travel hacking/churner failures today:

  • Missed another renewal fee cancellation window (second this year). Need to be more diligent on these. Any tips? I feel like calendaring is hard bc I never know when they'll actually post
  • Looks like our spring break Costa Rica trip is falling apart, as it seems cancellations are coming out from the WA Costa Rica pushing back its opening
  • Flew too close to the sun with SW dummy flight and had a flight auto cancelled for being the same day as another flight (it arrived at 12:25am, which technically made it the same day). No harm, but would have been bad if the flight the day before (which I actually needed) was the one that had gotten cancelled.
  • Ran into Citi's ridiculous fraud alerts at Home Goods. Trip 1: ran into fraud alert, couldn't resolve onsite, placed items on hold Trip 2: paid for items on hold Trip 3: Came back to pay for items that I put in my shoulder tote bag during checkout before Trip 1's fraud alert commotion. Other items were large and unwieldy, these were small and went right into my bag after she scanned them. Didn't realize until after Trip 2 they weren't in the hold items and then realized that I'd essentially stole them on Trip 1.
  • A Hilton Be My Guest certificate I was promised from September never arrived, so I have to go back to the drawing board with them on it.

I currently have 4, though I could close one before applying. Guess I'd better hurry and decide, 11/14 isn't far away. Thanks for the input!

Does anyone know if a gc purchased through cashstar would count for a Chase offer? I was hoping to stack the 20% off TopGolf gc's with a Chase 15% back offer, but not sure it would count because the charge said it would appear as Top Golf CSTR Egiftcard. Does anyone have experience with that?

The SW business cards offers haven’t change in a while, if you want the points to post in 2024 I would apply soon. They use to pretty reliably post about 2 weeks after approval on Tuesday but have taken longer recently.

The bigger concern on the business side is how many Chase business cards you have open and (I think) if you have been using them….going by the DPs I have seen on Reddit. P2 was approved with 4 open last month but we use them regularly at office supply stores for the 5x

Ok I'm getting mad at myself bc I can't figure out this doordash thing...... so in Sept I easily used the 2 $10 credits for a local pickup - now when I try to order, the monthly credit is not showing in my checkout page even tho the right cc is attached to acct- what am I missing?

Are you clicking into ‘promo codes, rewards, & gift cards’? Scroll down and the $10 should be there with an apply button.

Sorry, lots of questions lately. If I apply for a Chase biz card and am denied, would I need to wait 30 days to apply for a personal card after the denial? Thinking maybe I could try for the SW Biz card, and if denied go for the CSP, but I thought there was a 30 day rule.

Also, I believe I read if I have a CSP, and want to PC it, I need to wait at least 4 days to apply for a new CSP. What should I PC to? Are there different Freedom cards or only one? TIA!

What I’ve seen is 30 days between business applications. So go for the biz card first and then go for your personal card. You don’t have to wait 30 days if denied for the biz.

Sorry to hear about the denials.

I closed a CIU and a CIC on 11/4/24. I still have a CIC open and both SW business cards. I applied yesterday for a CIU and received the "We need to review your application. If you are approved you will receive your card in 7-10 business days". I have been checking my account repeatedly to see if a new card shows up or a letter and so far nothing. I will report once I have an update.
Coming back to report my outcome to help others. I received my first denial.

Chase called yesterday and I answered. They asked basic questions about the business, income, and why I wanted a new card after closing 2. After answering she came back and said I was denied and would get a letter. The letter posted today and the reasons are:

Too many active accounts or too much available credit.
Too many recent requests for credit.

It did not say anything about closing accounts recently. I'm sure it was either the 3 open business cards or the available credit or both. My current limit is below 50% of income but close to the $75K figure. I wanted to lower it more but ran out of time. I know it isn't too many recent requests for credit because I only have 2 in the last 12 months and both are Chase: SW Performance Biz on 11/15/23 and SW Premier Biz on 1/22/24.

I had 2 green star approved offers in my Chase account before I applied: Ink Preferred and Ink Premier. Today they are still there and there is a new one, Ink Unlimited. I need to look at what other cards we might want to get and make a plan then I might try one of the green star offers. If I go with a green star offer I will report the outcome. Like others here I cannot believe how quickly we go through the MSR's. We are working on DD's Business Gold but it will be time for a new card before you know it. She just got it but we have already met half the spend with a vet bill.

You could apply for a personal without waiting 30 days. There are a few types of freedom cards the freedom unlimited is a visa which earns 1.5 points on everything, the freedom flex is a MC and has the 5x categories each quarter, some report they are able to PC to the original freedom…a visa with the 5x categories…but others aren’t offered it
