I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

I have been wondering the same thing about the CP; changes almost have to be coming. I've often said I don't know how they stay in business because I haven't paid for a flight with them in 10 yrs, lol. However, I realize that in reality the majority of people do not have CPs. They have always been customer friendly in their business model, so hopefully they will still offer good value if they do make changes.
this is making me soooooo sad! the CP was the og thing that got me learning all about this stuff! And I can't get another b/c velocity....and newer advice is 4 months- I'm hoping I can still figure something out before time runs out:sad:

It’s been a long time since I’ve had the CSP(usually have the CSR but downgraded to a freedom recently). I know there is a $50 hotel credit. Is that like the Amex Plat where it’s a certain bunch of hotels. I’m thinking about a stay at Sapphire Falls Universal. Does anyone know if the credit would work for that? I’m thinking about having Dh get the CSP but not sure if it’s worth the annual fee since we don’t have much travel to book coming up other than Sapphire Falls.
It's any hotel prepaid through the Chase portal. I used mine last year at an Econolodge as that was the only thing with availability for 75 miles.

Well, we don't know when or if changes are coming for the CP. We have it through next year, I'm hoping there'll be enough time to at least get another round, earning it early in 2026 for another couple of years.

But same, the SW CP was my gateway drug as well...

We alternate CP every other year so there is never a gap that one of us don’t have it. I travel much more than DW but it’s still valuable.

SWA put out a video on their website a couple of weeks ago about the upcoming changes. They addressed the CP and said that you would be able to select your companion’s seat at the time of booking. That doesn’t necessarily mean it is here to stay, but they also said they are enhancing their RR program, whatever that means.

My other takeaway was that you really need A List + to be able to reserve premium seating at the time of booking. Regular A List members will be able to upgrade 48 hours before departure.

Reserve seating at time of booking for A List+ "at no additional cost" - I'm thinking that means you can still reserve at booking but just pay for it, right?

I'm hoping that the Chase SW Priority and Biz Performance boarding upgrades (they each come with 4 per year) will turn into credits for advanced seat selection

yeah from what ive read it's that private group that bought out a lot of Southwest which is why they are implementing seating changes I also like to think Hyatt and Southwest wouldn't change what makes people loyal to them to begin with if that makes sense.

I think they are going to give you a certain number of a-list based on spending, also whenever I've heard enhancements for the last 20+ years its always been a devaluation. Just like the recent Hyatt and aa "enhancement" email I got a few days ago, nothing is good from that.

Yeah, I think these will turn into items like an RDU/GPU or system-wide upgrade and you will get an allotment. Maybe more based on spend or tiers.

That would be my interpretation, same as the MCE, Comfort+ or Economy Plus on the big three now. If you have a high enough status you get it immediately. Lower status and you get it closer in. I would expect A List Preferred to get extra legroom seats at time of booking, A list to get preferred seats at time of booking and extra legroom at some set time frame out from departure, maybe a week. Anyone else can purchase those at any time.

I think part of the reason I love loyalty programs too is speculation of whats going to happen good or bad.

Hey everyone, I was approved for the Southwest personal card. I was curious how I should complete the application for my wife. She's a stay-at-home mom currently. How should I list her income for the credit card application? I obviously don't think I should list her as unemployed and $0.
Hey everyone, quick thought as I work through these Southwest cards with my wife. Long story short, there's no way we fly before December 2025. So I got my Personal SW card, and I plan to refer P2 in the coming days. From what I gather, the CP requires 135,000 points. After the referral, and spending $3,000 on each card, that would place us at 110,000 points and 85,000 points respectively. To avoid overcomplicating things for myself, I intend to meet the MSR on our personal cards, and then refer the business cards to each other in January. That way, the referral would push me to get the CP. Then I can worry about meeting the MSR on the business cards come 2025. Am I potentially screwing things up in this thinking? I'm trying to avoid meeting the MSR on all four cards during the same time frame since there's no rush on our end to get the CP early in 2025.

It appears your plan is fine since you don't need the pts or CP any time soon. Just be sure you time the MSR on the personal cards so that the points do not post in 2024.

Is there an issue with meeting the MSR in 2024 if it doesn’t push me past 135,000? Does the 135,000 points have to be made within the same calendar year?

I can't remember if this has been posted here before, but there is a way to use the AmEx biz Gold to help directly with Disney costs. I use my $20 office supply store credit to purchase a Disney GC at Staples or OD/OM each month. I think the benefit terms state it excludes gift cards, but the credit has posted each time for me (YMMV).

I also have an inadvertent DP about the Aspire $200 resort credit. Some of you may remember that I recently posted a warning about Conrad Orlando pre-charging the first night of a stay about 1 month prior to the stay. Well... I cancelled my stay a few days after they charged me (for other reasons), and the $200 credit showed up right after I cancelled. It appears the credit was triggered in the few days between when they charged it and when I cancelled. I was NOT trying to do this on purpose and am fine with they claw it back, but I thought I would share anyway. As always, YMMV.

Another Aspire DP on the quarterly airline credit. It was triggered when I booked a $50ish ticket on Southwest. If you book any tier higher than Wanna Get Away and later have to cancel, the credit can be transferred to anyone.

That is exactly why you have to be careful. All the pts have to be earned in the same calendar year to count towards the CP. The mileage "calculator" resets Jan 1 each year.

That's how it should work now, it's not just for incidentals it covers airfare even when over $50.

If you don't plan on flying until Dec 2025, I'm wondering why you're trying to do two CPs with 4 cards now. Assuming nothing changes with SW, it might be better to wait on cards for P2 until late next year and meet that spend in early 2026. That would allow P2s CP to extend through 2027. You wouldn't have the 2nd CP for your Dec 2025 flight, but you'd potentially get more use out of it with future flights. Just my two cents 🙂
