I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Thoughts on the new Kohls Cap One card? I forgot they were doing this and I just got the card in the mail. Cant decide if I even shop at Kohls enough anymore to justify keeping it. Only a $600 limit.
I didn't know anything about it until it showed up in the mail. I have a $500 limit, although I don't remember what it used to be? I have had my card for 23 years but only use it once or twice a year for a discount. I hardly shop at Kohl's anymore either but it is my oldest card, so I guess we stick with it.

I received an email about the 85K RR offer and it says to apply by October 9th, which is a week or so earlier than I'd want to, just to allow myself some cushion in January to make sure I don't hit the spend too early (or too late). I'll have to set myself multiple reminders to make sure I finish my spend those first couple days of January.
I just got the email yesterday also. It is going to have to be carefully done for sure being that close to the end of the year. I don’t want to screw it up. I’m going to apply for it, but should I do it a couple of days before the 9th in case they need “ more time” to approve or if I apply on the 9th and it takes a couple days, will they still honor the 85k RR?

I'd go one step further, I think MRS and ur are easier to get than aa miles so all things equal I go for Aa. But I always go for the higher amount. I think me thinking of that best lounge Ive ever been too doesn't hurt either.
You’re not wrong. Same with Alaska so the Hawaiian card(s) and MR transfer to Hawaiian are in the works. If Barclay loses AA cc partnership it makes earning those miles even more difficult.

Looks like Barclays will be losing AA? I'm going to go ahead and get DH and I a card before this happens.

Aw man. I'm 2/24 because the red card fell off this month. I was approved 9/23/21 so still too soon for one. Thought I'd do the card early next year. My next card drops off in April.

I want to do the Hawaiian card now, which I think I still will and keep this plan knowing I can go 4/24 for a short bit if I need to.

But more concerning to me, my AA no fee barclays card is my 2nd oldest card and why I still have it. I wonder what it'll get changed to.

Warning, long read. TL:DR my work trip sucked but SW recovered a little bit.
Had about the worst business trip ever last weekend. I know I've said it here before, I umpire slow pitch softball as a side gig at a very high level. Had a tournament in Alabama last weekend with the 18 best men's teams and 16 best women's teams in the world. They are paying to fly me in for it on SW. MKE-BWI-BHM on the outbound and BHM-MCO-MKE on the return. Had to get a hotel in Milwaukee Thursday night since my flight was scheduled at 0505 Friday morning. Land at BWI, the plane currently at our gate has a mechanical, ended up sitting on the de-icing pad for over an hour before SW gets that plane moved and ATC lets us in, so of course I missed my connection. Got re-routed BWI-MCO-BHM as that's the only way I can get there the same day. Tournament was supposed to start at 1600, my flight lands at BHM at 1555. Manage to work a few games Friday night, left the field at 0115 Saturday morning and made it to my hotel room at just after 0200, supposed to be back on the field at 0800.
Weather saw that that didn't happen, completely washed out Saturday, loser's bracket cut, only have the championship games on Sunday. Work one of them and end up with some time to kill before I have to be at the airport. Join a couple of other umpires at a local establishment to watch some football. Get to the airport and the carryon screening machine in the one Precheck lane they are using goes down. 15 minute wait for them to move everything and everybody over to a new lane. Got through that, waiting at the gate and the incoming plane lands, way too many people getting off the plane for a HOU-BHM-MCO through flight. Right when I realize this I get a notification that my flight is delayed three hours. Plane sucked a bird into the engine on landing.
Was told my options were a hotel in BHM then flying Monday morning BHM-DAL-MKE with a long layover landing at 1530. Or see if they got the plane inspected quickly and try to still make my connection at MCO. I suggested a hotel at MCO and they put me on the 0700 flight to MKE if I miss my connection. They agreed. I was told that if I wanted my checked bag, I would have to specifically ask the baggage personnel for it, otherwise it would not come out on the carousel and would be on my morning flight. Missed my connection by 90 minutes. At BHM they have me a hotel voucher printed on BP stock that said I was going to get a room at the Hampton In and nothing else. Landed at 2355 at MCO, one of the APMs wasn't operating and three full flights landed at pretty much the same time. Took me 30 minutes to get from the gate to baggage claim, where my bag was going around on the carousel. Called the Hampton Inn Orlando Airport and asked for a shuttle. Got to the desk and was told they don't take SW vouchers, I needed to go to the Hampton Inn & Suites Orlando Airport on the other side of Semoran Blvd. Finally got checked in and to my room at 0145, with an alarm set for 0430.
Get up, shower, get a shuttle back to the terminal. Try to check my bag and the kiosks won't let me, thankfully the Customer Service station is open and not busy so I get up there, I guess my previous tags were still good and they just had to take my bag and put it on the belt. Flight was only two thirds full, no further issues and I managed to make it home just in time for a Teams meeting for a presentation I'm giving at a conference for my day job next month.
As soon as I got home and got through my meeting I put in a request for LUV Vouchers from SW for not getting me where I was going in a timely manner. They came through yesterday with a $300 voucher for each direction. So a total of $600. A lot more than I made working over the weekend since so many of the games were cancelled.
Now I'm already packing as I leave Tuesday for the World Championships in Viera and then three days at WDW with the wife for our 15th wedding anniversary. Hopefully American does better.

Still advice for a credit card for my husband. This wouldn’t be a churning CC, but one he would keep long term for business trip expenses. I have him as an AU on some of my cards, but none of them are travel focused cards. His workplace does not have a corporate card so he charges to our personal cards & gets reimbursed.

He mostly stays at Marriott hotels (but not always depending on the conference)
He mostly flies Delta/AA but is not dedicated since sometimes a low cost airline will fly direct to where he needs to go. So he doesn’t have status so lounge access would be nice.

Anything where he has to book through a specific portal would probably not be great. He already made mistake on a flight to a speaking engagement this past Sunday where he booked a 6am flight vs a 6pm flight (did manage to get a same day change on that one).

Averaging $4-5k in spend a month.

Oh man, and I was just complaining that there aren't enough AA CCs! Too soon for us to churn as we each just got it last year.

They don't have a 24 month rule.

The trip we’ve been waiting for what seems like forever is almost here!! We are heading out tomorrow. It’ll be DH, myself, DS, his wife and my 4 year old grandson. We are driving 4 hours to Nashville, spending the night at the Hyatt House (transferred 9,500 UR), then we have a 5:50 am flight to catch Sunday morning from BNA on SWA. We paid cash for our SWA tickets, but was able to use a 30% off code that I received when there was a promo applying for the SWA Personal Chase card. So with the discount we paid $770 each for 4 Anytime tickets, then DH was my free companion. Our route is BNA to LAS with a 2 hour layover, then LAS to HNL. Side note - DH is a smoker and from what I have found LAS has smoking lounges inside. I hope that’s true, because the only thing I dread on this long flight is him being so cranky because he hasn’t had a cigarette in 15 hours. This will be DH and I’s first time on the west coast of the USA. We tend to go east. This is our very first time to go to Aulani. DS and I bought my second, but his first 150 point DVC contract together last year. We bought it in July and requested an August UY so we could bank the remaining 2023 points (after DH immediately took a quick WDW trip) and use all of the 2024 points to book a 2 BR. Then we had to borrow 48 of our 2025 points because they decided to add one more night to our stay. We ended up doing the Island Garden View instead of Ocean View to save points. I requested a high floor luau view in Ewa tower, which would give us a partial ocean view so hoping that comes through. 🤞🏼 We went through Alamo and rented a Jeep, started out at $700+ for the week, but after lots of cancellations and rebooking because of price drops, as of yesterday it’s $490. We don’t really have much planned as this seems so overwhelming to me. We paid $1 each for Pearl Harbor tickets for Wednesday and I’m still confused as to what that allows us to do. Then we have Makahiki character breakfast on Thursday. That’s all we’ve planned. DS wants to find a good steakhouse to go to one night. We will just go out and drive around and just see what we stumble on to do I guess. I’m a big planner so just going with the flow is way out of my comfort zone. I want a relaxing trip, but also I want to do and see the things that make Hawaii special. I’m up for any suggestions! We will be at Aulani from Sunday to Saturday morning. We have an 8:00 am flight coming home. Will be back at BNA at 11:30 pm so we booked the Hyatt Place with 8,000 UR to spend the night and then will make the 4 hour drive back home Sunday morning. Then it’s back to work on Monday. I know we are going to be so exhausted with all the time changes catching back up to us. I hope this is the best trip. I know it’s not as extravagant as the places most of you go, but this is a big deal for us. I’m hoping these long flights go well and I can start talking DH into going to places like Europe soon! The struggle I have with him and smoking is a lot. I just wish he’d quit.
On another note, we have a RCCL trip to Alaska booked for June 2025 for my parents 50th anniversary and he keeps saying he’s not going. It’ll be my parents, my 2 sisters and their spouses, me and DH. And he is giving me such a hard time about it. I don’t particularly want to go either, we are more going to tropical places kinda people, but it’s for my parents. I keep telling him once we get there, I’m sure we are going to love it, but he’s not buying it. If it was a 4-5 day cruise, he wouldn’t be this way, but since it’s a 7 day one, he’s just not having it. So we’ll see how this goes the closer it gets to June. I know several people that’s been on Alaskan cruises and they all loved it. We really just need to get out more, we basically only go to WDW a few times a year and maybe to orange beach or destin once a year. Sometimes we go on a 4 day cruise to Cozumel or the Bahamas.

Oh man. This is good to know. I just happened to apply for this yesterday and the plan was to get P2 one as well. Guess it is time to pull the trigger...

I really need AA miles and they are so hard to earn. This did put me at 5/24, though. Still working on the latest CIP and will have one card drop off in November, so I think it will be OK...

This is sad if it comes true! I guess I should change plans for next cards to get. I was gonna cool it for next few months, as both myself and DH are 4/24. Last we had Barclay Aviator Red cards were in 2019, so shouldn't be an issue there, BUT they would put both of us at 5/24 until June 2025. I'm due for Sapphire as early as March next year, so I kind of wanted to keep that window open. Ugh! Maybe I'll get one for DH at least now...

I just got the email yesterday also. It is going to have to be carefully done for sure being that close to the end of the year. I don’t want to screw it up. I was thinking I might apply on the 7th, which gives a couple of business days for me to call in if there is a hang up. Maybe others have some data points, though - if you apply on the 9th but it takes them a few days or couple of weeks to approve, do you still qualify for the promotion? The offer just says it expires on the 9th, which doesn't tell me if one has to apply by that date, or be approved by it.

You would get the offer you applied under. It doesn't matter if approval is after the offer ends. It would actually work in your favor since the MSR period doesn't start until it's approved, so then you have more time in the new year.
