DP Finally got my denial letter from Chase (CIP) and was hit with a triple threat:
  • You have too many active accounts or too much available credit
  • Low usage of Chase credit line(s)
  • New Chase business card recently opened

For reference I have 3 CIU, 1 CIC, and 1 CIP. My most recent card was the third CIU in January so I think that last bullet point is just thrown in there for fun. I just lowered limits on 2 of the cards, but I think I'll just go ahead and cancel my CIP. Bummer since we have car insurance due this month and I was going to prepay for the kids' stupidly expensive field trips.
Yea from the recent DPs I’ve seen on Reddit 5 is a lot ….they seem to recommend 3 or maybe 4 chase business cards max. I have also countered the too much available credit buy making sure I have a balance on my existing chase business cards when applying…🤞it’s worked so far

What are everyone's thoughts on flying premium economy Dulles to London but standard economy home? I honestly am okay with regular economy but the flight to London is overnight so it seems well worth it to upgrade. On the way home the flight leaves at 5 PM London time (so maybe I'd get a few hours sleep before we land at Dulles). Do you think once we fly Premium there we'll dread flying regular home? I'm about two weeks out from being able to book (Virgin Atlantic).
I’ll be the lone dissenter here and say no to economy class. Do keep in mind that I am almost 6’ tall and cannot sit with my legs at my chin for any flight over 3 hours.

The News and Update thread, Andy tried to make a comeback and people were not happy.

Not surprised they are all mad, but they put themselves in those risky situations.
Is that the Andy that used to post here of grAAvy train fame? He and his dw homeschooled their kiddos from all over the world? What did he do to cause such condemnation? I *think* he may have been involved in some sort of points scheme involving buying nothing for the points and getting the $ back, or something along those lines. Sounded waaaaaay too risky for me.

If I need to remove parts or all of this post pls lmk.

Yeah I knew I was really pushing my luck but the 120K offer was giving me FOMO 🙁. Went ahead and cancelled the CIP. I had recent spend on all but one of the cards.

Oh and Chase called me after I sent the SM to cancel. Weird. Never had that happen before.

My son is 6' tall and whiny. I'd definitely fly premium both ways with him.

I did book my flight to London (the flight home isn't available to book yet). I think the rest of you will think I'm crazy but I booked with 55k Virgin points plus $915 for two premium seats. I transfered Chase URs to Virgin. I figured that's $870/ticket was decent. I do wonder what my URs are for if I never want to spend them (I'm still sitting on about 800k).

?? about Chase Personal vs Business cards.

This never occurred to me before as I always pay the bill on the due date but when I logged in this morning my personal card's statement had closed and it was showing the new balance due for the next month.

The business card that has the same due date was showing $0 due for last month and the statement had not posted.

I went and dug through mine and P2's accounts and seems like the business cards have to be paid a week before the statement close date but for the majority of the personal cards they only have to be paid 4 days before the statement ends. We have a few exceptions on the personal cards for those that close on the 1-3rd of the month but generally it is 4 days on the personal cards.

Curious if this is the normal behavior for others.
Yes, there is a pattern to statement closing and payment due dates for Chase. Ink cards follow one pattern, personal cards and cobrand biz cards follow another. Couple links to previous discussions we've had around timing statement dates provide more details -

I’m unsure how long you actually need to wait…I usually wait 5-7 days and also make sure my other chase business cards have a balance on them…seems to have helped the last few applications

Well that won't work, I can't wait that long. I should've done it when I saw they did it but also didn't expect to meet spend on my citi card so fast.

Totally get the FOMO……it seems at least IME recently Chase has called me after sending an SM asking to cancel a card…I don’t answer and they still do cancel

The new CSP terms are more generous and much clearer than the old terms. But if it's the same including the premium, I'd go with the AMEX. I also know that my personal insurance would pick up anything over the CSP if I somehow get a vehicle with that high of an MSRP.
Thanks, I was thinking Amex too. I booked the original rental car in DH name through Costco, since you get one add driver free so I can get added, and then CSP is in his name for ins coverage. Well then, I found a rental directly with one of the rental car companies for $25 less, so I booked it as an alternate/backup, but put my name instead. Mistake, since I don't have a CSP, so I'd have to use my Amex for rental coverage, so then that adds $20 and I'm basically back where I started, lol. And the rentals have gone up so I can't just rebook in his name, ugh. Might wanna stick with the Costco rental/CSP coverage since the additional driver is included though. Decisions decisions..

Without getting into the details, Andy walked away with millions in commissions while several users were at risk for tens of thousands of dollars. Some large players had six figures at risk. Everyone knew (or should have known the risks), but it's understandable why he would be disliked.

As they say, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.

Yes, he has the same user name here as on Reddit. I still follow his instagram and his wife's, and we still chat, he helped me plan my South Africa trip.

I'm not 100% sure what all went down, because I never involved myself in any of it. But something with getting banned from Chase for using a link that guaranteed approval and sharing that link in Reddit and also buying group stuff. People lost a lot of money? Again this is all just from what I read on Reddit, because I didn't involve myself.

ETA: user above posted a better answer.

Does BofA claw back bonuses if you have a return that puts you below the MSR? I got the email saying I received the bonus, but the points aren't in my account yet...and now I have a refund that puts me $300 below.

I've got time to make it up if needed, but I'd rather not put it on that card if I don't have to!

Got a response to my Chase sm this morning with the cl lowered. Hopefully the rest of you that had sm'd also got things resolved or will very soon.
I had mine too, when I got up this morning.
Now if Cap One would respond to the credit line increase. They approved p2 for a Venture with a $2k CL, mine was approved with $10k. Come on Cap One.

Put my dlp package on my ink preferred since there's no foreign transaction fees ans it was 15 cheaper to buy it on the france site. Then I applied for the ink unlimited and amazingly got an instant approval. I was expecting to wait for a fraud review or a denial.

How long between apps?
