Agreed, it can get tricky when it isn't apples to apples comparisons.Has anyone flown Virgin Premium overseas? I'm a few weeks from being able to book plane tickets from Dulles to London and I'm considering transfering URs to Virgin. Two premium tickets will probably be something like 110,000 points plus $2,500. I can also probably book through Chase for 280k URs or so. Just estimating fares based on July 2025 prices. United also has nonstops from Dulles, but their prices seem much higher. I don't know why I can't figure out international flying on points.
Via Virgin- (110kUR x .015)+ $2500= $4,150
Via Chase portal- (280k UR x .015) + $0= $4,200
So really very equivalent. If you book through the Chase portal though, I believe (I am not sure) you can earn airline miles on that $4,200 in spend (not sure what airline loyalty program best to credit it to), which would probably be very nice. On the other hand, whenever you can it's advised to book directly with the airline and you'd earn cc miles on the $2500 in taxes.
