That’s great to know! I didn’t care which one we stayed in. They both look nice. I love that there’s an indoor pool and playground. Did you use the time saver passes?

Both resorts are pretty close to each other too. Walking distance. We did use the passes. Between that and arriving early It would have been a waste to spend money for their express passes. Even with having a car taking the trolley/bus was easy and I would do that versus driving. It is a great park; intense coasters and as clean and organized as WDW. My daughter is a huge Dolly fan and that’s why we were there. Definitely get the cinnamon bread!

There is an indication that the AmEx Gold card refresh may come on 7/25/24, just 2 days from now on Thursday. With a refresh comes an AF increase. But no good indication of a better sign up bonus that I've seen. New card color option though, White Gold. (Haven't found a pic yet.)

Can you remind me what hotel and area you stayed in Lisbon? We have an open day and I really want to visit Obidos, plus add in a beach, perhaps Cascais. I think some in our group would want to do Sintra, but that just feels HOT, busy and extra touristy in August. Thoughts? What would you do with one day trip near Lisbon?

And just Uber or Bolt from the airport to hotel?

Casa Balthazar, the Ciado/Biaxa area. small boutique hotel, fantastic breakfast , which I normally don't eat! coffee machine and cake out all day, spa, pool. great location.

we used bolt/uber everywhere. we ubered to sintra early, right to ticket area for pena palace. did grounds early. it definitely got more crowded as day went on but beautiful

from there we ubered to Caiscais which had several nice beaches. and ubered back.

we did a full day tour to fatima, obidos and Nazare. Lane was the name thru get your guide and I don't recommend them.

nazare had nice beaches and might be closer to obidos than caiscais.

but yes, uber was cheap and easy as was bolt. from/to airport and everywhere

I don't think it'll go up that fast. When the Hilton Surpass and biz were refreshed, it was about 3 months from when the update e-mail went out to when the AF on existing card renewals went up.

Since SW allows 2 changes now for flight accommodations, has anyone tried to move 14 days and then another 14 days? For some of my holiday flights, they change window was 28 days but for a January flight that just got changed it was for only 14 days and I'd like to get into February if possible.

Yes I have done this made 1 change moving forward the maximum number of days allowed, then changed again

Yes. We never really waited for it as they have multiple ones running. The night we stayed late and watched the fireworks and drone show (which was also really cool) they did announce on the way over that the last one would leave at 10 (which was right after the park closed) so to make sure you got there and didn’t just hang out in park after.

We're looking at 2026 European fjords cruises. The fjords that I am mostly aware of are the Norweigan fjords (that's the Disney fan in me). If any of you have any preferences on which European fjords would be the cream of the crop my ears are wide open. My cruise line preference is now Princess, but open to others, of course. I know some of you have gotten great cc deals on cruises...

We had been thinking Alaskan cruises intially, but I've been to Alaska twice by land and have done two fjords day cruises out of Whittier so I was thinking of "going a little bigger".

Since SW allows 2 changes now for flight accommodations, has anyone tried to move 14 days and then another 14 days? For some of my holiday flights, they change window was 28 days but for a January flight that just got changed it was for only 14 days and I'd like to get into February if possible.

I am looking for a new HYSA and wondering if anyone here can recommend one they are happy with. I just read a long list of negative comments on DOC's site (regarding many different HYSA options) and it sounds like a lot of them are more trouble than they are worth. I would take a few less dollars of interest for a solid, hassle-free experience.

I have 2 Discover and CIT and they both have been fine and not a hassle for accessing money.

I’m planning a May 2025 trip to Japan and would like to stop in BKK for at least a day on the way there or back. It seems from flight routes that booking a ticket to BKK with a stopover in Japan is the way to go, only I can’t figure out how to make it an actual stopover and not 3 legs with different charges. The lowest points (economy, by choice) seem to be through American and partners but my internet searches can’t find anything suggesting they do stopovers. If anyone has tried or done this combo I’d love to hear about it!

Retention advice: never asked for before
got my amex plat statement today with af. with the change in the digital credit etc I won't get the af value. I haven't made use of FHC as there's been limited availability and high prices when I've looked.

with a statement due date of 8/13 when can I downgrade if no good offer and get my af back? I'm going to call later but if nothing good, I'd like to try a few times before giving up.

I'm going to open a low af card or downgrade to keep my mr active. I tried applying for gold but got NLL language, no sub

You can get a refund for canceling if you do it within 30 days of the AF posting. If it's due before then, pay it and then get a refund. If you downgrade, you'll get a prorated refund. There's no deadline for that.

There isn't really a good downgrade option though. The green is $150 and gold is $250 (probably going up tomorrow). You can open a Blue Business Plus. No AF, earns 2x everything, holds your MRs, and doesn't take up a 5/24 slot.

Oh man. My AF hit last month and I need to decide in the next couple of days what to do. I don't really use ALL the credits to offset the AF and as far as I can tell, no good new benefits.

So I should just close this right? I have been hesitating because I still have 35,000 MRs and no other card to move them to and not really sure where to transfer them right now. I need to make some decisions ASAP!

definitely Portugal. Barcelona was nice but it didn't feel as comfortable. Dirtier, graffiti, people weren't as friendly. The Catedral Famiglia, Park Guell (Gaudi) and Montserrate were beautiful though
Lisbon was beautiful although hilly! loved hotel, people very friendly, shops were ,more locally owned (artisan type). did day trips to Sintra, Caicais,Fatima, Obidos, Nazare.. I'd spend a week traveling thru Portugal.

Any particular recommendations for Barcelona (restaurants, bars, sightseeing, etc)? Sister has a conference there next year - hoping to tag along and take advantage of the free hotel room.

Seeing on r/Amex the white gold card is now available. And a chat rep (for what it's worth) said the increased af will happen Oct 1, which I think tracks with the normal timeliness for refreshes they've done.

Nothing officially out yet. Really hope the dunkin thing is wrong or there's a way to get a gc online because there's none in the PNW. Will have to use it when we're in boston/salem in Sept at least. Also need to stop by saks for a gc if we are nearby.
