Has anyone booked American Airlines flights through British Avios? I am wondering if the economy and business fares will include luggage
I have booked two AA domestic economy flights using BA Avios. No checked luggage was included on either flight.

I am an AA credit card member, which gives me a free checked bag. I added my AA number to the reservation. However, when I used the self service check in, it did not give me my free checked bag. I had to go up to the desk and the attendant there had to call her supervisor. I think it was a problem in the system because I had booked the flight with Avios through the BA website. Just an FYI.

I decided to apply for the basic HH card using a DoC NLL link and got instant approval.

I want another CIP and don't think I can meet the MSR of 2xCIPs + a new Aspire. Also I didn't see the NLL link for an Aspire (though I didn't try super hard). I think I'm going to take the upgrade offer on the basic HH I got last year since I have a few HH stays over the next year and enjoy lounge access plus I want another FNC -- can anyone confirm when I will get the FNC if I do the upgrade?

My DP:
Upgraded 12/16/22, new Aspire FNC 2/19/23, anniversary FNC 6/7/23
Original Surpass opened on 3/22/21, this is the anniversary date.

If your AF will post 7/20, that likely means your anniversary has passed. Your card was probably opened sometime last June or early July? In which case, you'll get the new Aspire FNC about 2 months after you upgrade, but I suspect your anniversary FNC won't be until summer 2025.

For those that have received recent Chase business CC denial how long are you going to take off before you apply? Anyone been approved after the recent denials?
DH received a denial in Feb and March, it's been 4 months, he's down to 2 Chase business card.
His last Chase business card was 11/2023.
I was denied for a CIP in April. I took a break from Chase and closed two Inks. I applied again for a CIP this month and was approved.

What does everyone have planned for 2025?
Feb: Mexico for my grandmother's 90th
March: Disney World for my niece's 6th birthday
Summer: Belize
Thanksgiving: Italy, we are taking my parents so this will be a slow touring pace. I need some advice on what to do with 6 full days. My mom's dream is to visit the Vatican so that's the primary goal, we also want to visit Pompeii and Venice. Should we fly into Rome and out of Venice or vice versa?

So I'm going to Fiji thru SFO- at this point I can't find clear info online, so I'm planning to take the minimum I can live with for 2 weeks, and I'll purchase smaller bottles special for this trip and carry each one separately...(I take a lot of targeted supplements for some health stuff) I usually carry it all in a multi container that holds everything compactly.
Sorry- I'm quoting myself here bc trip is coming up soon, and I'm starting to think details- some of you bring along the regular marked bottles for meds/vitamins and then put into a smaller dispenser once there? When exactly do they check these things, at entrance to country I'm visiting? does it matter on the way back home? (International travel noob here)

Our family is carry-on only for all our travel. I bought this pocket pharmacy from Amazon for about $2 (3 for $6). Downloaded the color labels from Etsy.

I always travel with my prescription medication in their pharmacy bottles but then like to put them in a small pill organizer, bc otherwise five minutes after taking, I’ll be like “did I take those?”

Plan to make a second one for hubby’s bag with more of our motion sickness, emergency meds and his OTC meds. So satisfying!
so putting things like advil etc into this is ok for intl. travel?

What does everyone have planned for 2025?
We're going to take it easy next year with traveling, as we have some expensive home repairs we need to take care of.

Here's what we have planned:
May - Chicago
June - Myrtle Beach (to visit family)
Oct - Disney for Food & Wine
Nov/Dec - Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam

not much for 2025 yet.... large fam gathering trip at WDW in January- prob smaller trips to visit midwest fam over the year....2024 has been pretty big (for me) so I'm not even thinking about it lol

I SM’d them Monday morning to match my CIP to the 120k bonus. 48hrs later still no response. Unusual for them to take this long to respond.
Any response from them yet? I haven't gotten any reply to my match request yet either.
My card is arriving today, the day after I finally called for expediting (guess I should have called right away so I could have had it to buy my MVMCP with Prime Day yesterday)

Question.. I have the Chase Freedom, Freedom Unlimited and Sapphire Preferred cards. My normal behavior for deciding when to use which card is: Freedom 5% category? Freedom. Travel? Sapphire Preferred. Everything else? Freedom Unlimited. In my mind this was maximizing earned points.

I just learned that the Chase Sapphire Preferred has a 10% anniversary points bonus:
"Each account anniversary year, you'll earn bonus points that equal 10% of your total spend in points from purchases made with your credit card during the previous account anniversary year at a rate of 1 point for each $1 spent."

If I have no plans to close my Sapphire Preferred card before my anniversary date.. am I better off using the Sapphire Preferred for all purchases??

I feel like I'm missing something with the 10% anniversary bonus, because the "Chase Trifecta" is so highly publicized? But maybe I'm not and I actually should be using the Sapphire Preferred for everything??

answering my own question, match granted, once I meet the spend :-)

The only thing we have for 2025 right now is Disney in January with friends.
Now that we have a camper, a lot of our vacation days are camping, which doesn't leave a ton of time to go other places anymore.

January: 2 weeks in Portugal

Late May/early June: Long weekend in Iceland (we have direct flights from RDU) for our 10th wedding anniversary. One of our favorite trips has been Iceland but we went in winter so now we'll see it in summer.

August: DVC Member Cruise for my mother's 60th bday. We're paying for it so she better like it, lol

October: DCL Hawaii cruise from Vancouver. My MIL wants to see Hawaii and take a Disney Cruise, so we're combining both with this trip. She's not very mobile so having the cruise to take her from place to place in Hawaii seemed like a good idea. Hopefully we're able to grab accessible excursions.

Thanksgiving: might actually go see family! It's easy to take off work around then and not use as much time off, so in 2022 we were at WDW, in 2023 we were in Italy, and in 2024 we'll be in Japan. So maybe we'll spend the holiday with family in 2025 for once 😅

How was the weather in Italy?
What was your itinerary?

Feb - San Antonio
Apr - Italy/Switzerland
Aug - London, Norway/Iceland cruise

How was the weather in Italy?
What was your itinerary?
We were there 2 weeks, the week before Thanksgiving and the week of. Itinerary was: Flew into Rome 3 nights, then train to Florence 3 nights (with a day trip to the Cinque Terre), then drove to San Marino (DH likes to see microstates) for 1 night, then drove to Venice 3 nights, then drove to Trento fue a day and kept driving to stay in Verona 1 night, then Lake Como 1 night, and Milan 2 nights. Flew out of Milan.

The whether was very lovely most of the time. In Venice it did get a little chilly because it's very breezy and the highs were in the 50s, lows in upper 30s. Still, Venice was one of our favorite places after Florence.

Do you have status with Hyatt?
There's a Hyatt Centric in Murano that has complimentary water taxi to and from the airport and is steps away from the public water taxi to Venice. Very good breakfast spread as well and spacious suites (upgrades b/c Globalist). It's in a converted glass factory building.

In Florence there's an Unbound Collection Hyatt that is superb. The service was phenomenal. It's called Il Tornabouni. Would go back there in a heartbeat, especially since we also loved the city much better than Rome.

The Park Hyatt Milan is nice... The city itself is too busy. This was our least favorite part of the trip.

Otherwise, we stayed in some wonderful SLH properties that sadly are no longer bookable through Hyatt but you can with Hilton. There are several good ones in Rome. We stayed at Maalot and it had excellent plated breakfast. The one in Verona is also great.

i haven't read the sapphire preferred language closely, but it sounds like it is 1.1% extra on your spending vs the CFU 1.5%. Personally I would use the CSP for travel and dining like you would anyway, and continue to get the 5% on Freedom categories and 1.5% on CFU (also 3% at drugstores)

Ah, that makes sense.. I think you're right. Thank you!!

The basic HH AmEx was opened on July 19, 2023. I took the upgrade offer today. Is there any chance I will get an anniversary FNC and an upgrade FNC? A girl can dream, right?!
