Does anyone have the BOA Alaska Business Card?
Is it difficult to get approved? We don't have a BOA relationship.

Looking at 2025 plans and I think some Alaska miles might come in handy.

DH opened one last year since we took an Alaskan cruise this year. Might be going to CA next year so might use the miles/companion pass for that as well, but then will probably close the card. He used to work in banking security and HATES BOA.

I know I got 3 seats initially for our 2023 trip. I've read people having success upgrading after w/ points. I think we may have to try that for my mom's seat.
Hmm ok we might have to look again. It’s the same thing with Edinburgh. We could do direct with virgin to Orlando but only ever see 2 seats available

BofA can be hard to get a card with if you don't have a relationship. You may need to open some type of account but I can't remember what. If you google and can get some reddit threads to pop up you'll find lots of dps.

They are a crap bank and their biz card interface is the worst. I'd research before applying to know what your plan may need to be to get the card and I'd figure out a plan b if it either doesn't work or it's not something you want to do.

Update- per reddit multiple people who also have points missing are now being told aeroplan is no longer a partner with Amex and cant help with missing points. Amex says they sent them and doesn't know anything.
I was able to move points from Amex to Aeroplan on Monday 9/18, the day that the ability to transfer showed back up. Transfer was immediate. I know at least one other person on the Frequent Miler Insiders FB group had the same experience (that’s how I knew the ability to transfer was back).

Hit the proverbial wall at Universal Japan today. Much more crowded than I expected for their 2nd lowest cost ticket. Had 10am express entry for Mario and all the games to maybe win a key were 10 to 15 min not that they are listed. And in the sun. Rode yoshi wirhy express pass, hit some blocks and played one unsuccessful key game. They didn't explain it and apparently what I read online was opposite of what was expected.

I'd usedy jaws ep before going into Mario. I gave up on Mario when it was just too much. Would have been better to try and rope drop or maybe do after dark since at least the sun is gone then.

Was going to use my minions mayhem ep but the ep line was 40 vs standby at 70. Shorter but if I'm paying I expect way less than 40 min esp for a ride I've done before.

I wandered the shops, bought a Halloween snoopy and left after about 3 hours. No regrets but I hope FL puts the lines in shade with fans or inside and limits the number of people inside. There was just too many.

Having boujee afternoon tea, really hot chocolate, in the lounge. Happy to be going back to tokyo tomorrow as that means sumo, baseball and my flight home Sunday. Trip was far too long to be away from my dog and my bed. The beds have gotten progressively harder since the first at Tokyo Station this Conrad Osaka being the worst. I hope the Andaz doesn't top them. Can't argue with the view here though.

Will share more once I'm home.
dang we went at the same time i just got back this morning :)

For those interested check your emails from AA, or look at the current promotions in your AA account. They are doing a status match with Hyatt. I have ZERO AA status, but was given AA Platinum status for the next 4 months (after registering) because I’m a Hyatt Explorist. I was already able to upgrade some seats on a flight to MCE at no charge.

Sorry I can’t find a link with more details, but you should be able to see it in your promotions section. Could be a good deal if you have Hyatt Status and fly AA
so I got this I ended up getting platinum pro status.
Then I remembered that they could get first-class lounge access via Emerald with One World with Japan Airlines.
I showed them my status (I got the day before :) ) it worked, I had the best food in my LIFE in a lounge, Caviar + vodka paring, wagu curry, and sushi (even though I was already too full). And since it was so good I ended up signing up for the American Airlines card with the 75k offer, I always used American Airlines miles, and now that I can't spend my way to Delta top status I'm thinking of becoming a free agent, It also never made sense to me why I would pay 100$ more for delta even though it's a better service so I'm a free agent now. Hopefully, I'm not signing up for a United card too lol. My wagu curry picture is blurry but here are white truffle/sushi/caviar pics

In addition to the AA Executive card, I decided to pick up the Marriott Bon Blah business card while the higher offer is still in play. Both of these will fall into some of my long term plans and potential plan B strategies.

I'm still on a status challenge with AA and am currently Gold but would like to hit Platinum Pro if I can swing it, which may be a route to Hyatt Globalist match next year if I don't manage that independently. The 100k added to my current AA miles will hopefully be used towards booking the Etihad apartment. This is DH's next bucket list plane experience.

I am hoping that when we are ready to pull the trigger on the Etihad apartment, we also have enough Bon Blah points accumulated for something like the JW Marriott Safari at Masai Mara.

Failing that, I'd be delighted with a stay in Venice at Gritti Palace. Currently, those are the two aspirational Marriott properties I have in mind for down the line. We will see how it plays out. This also gives me a reason to lay off Chase a little and I can get back to that in a few months.
so one thing I noticed with this promo too is with platinum pro my Hyatt spend is counting towards the loyalty point total as well as award miles. Not sure how this program works as I signed up for it so recently but considering my spending at Hyatt even on free nights we tend to spend a little this seems like a great target offer.

also, I realize now I should have multi-quoted this but it feels like 4am Japan time :)

The AF just posted on my amex Hilton Biz card. I recently got a Hilton Honors card when they had the elevated bonus with FNC. My intention was to close the biz card because there's no point in keeping it as there is no FNC. Are there any other factors I should be thinking about? Since I have the Honors card, my points are safe, correct? Also, I have never closed an amex card. What method is recommended?

We are planning to open a Chase checking account to get the Disney Visa debit card version so that we can get room discounts. MDE and all our reservations are always booked under me. We do plan to keep it this way with MDE since I do all the planning.

I was going to open up the Chase checking in my spouse's name just because...but then I wondered if the Disney Visa HAD to be under my name to apply the room discounts? Anyone know?

(also posting here bc r/t credit cards)

You can close the Biz card through chat. Your points are safe without holding a Hilton card. I closed my biz Hilton a couple of years ago. I also found no value in keeping it.

It seems like an Aeroplan issue. We called three times today and got wildly different stories, all with the end line "its not us, Amex must have made a mistake, call them". Amex gave us some confirmation code to give Aeroplan to prove its not them (Amex). Aeroplan is "experiencing a high call volume" so we are waiting on another call back.

I am so annoyed! We can book a different flight but then if these points ever do show up we will have them stranded there. I wouldn't care if they just said it was pending, but Aeroplan keep telling us we must have never transferred, Amex doesn't transfer to them, or other bull.

I tried to call about an issue related to my booking and also got the “high call volume” message. I opted for a call back and got a call back about 2 hours later (by that time I’d fixed my issue on my own).

Hilton points can expire due to inactivity. Or has that changed? I started doing occasional surveys after I closed my last Hilton card to keep my account active.

From the Hilton website:
Hilton Honors Points expire after 24 consecutive months of inactivity.

I think in the early stages of the Pandemic they waived this rule.

If I am not going to be staying at a hotel chain before my points expire, I transfer my hotel points to one of my airline frequent flyer accounts.

Yes, Hilton points do expire. But the poster was concerned about losing them if the card was closed. I was just pointing out that you won’t lose your Hilton points if you don’t hold a Hilton card.

Will amex refund my AF? Since it's already posted, will they reverse the AF automatically when they close the card? I wish I would have closed it before the AF posted.

Yes, in my experience all of my AFs have been refunded within 2 or 3 days of closing my account. Hopefully your payment isn’t due before then. If not, you should be in good shape.

Have any of you flown Brussels air? We’re looking at possibly flying with them back to the US to save on taxes and fees instead of London. We would spend some time in Belgium if we do that

Anyone who has flown to Italy (FCO) what airline did you fly? We are in the DC area but are willing to position for better options. DH wants to go in 2025 so I want to start scoping at how many points I might need to accrue.
