amex is obviously trying to kill people who churn cards, so now ill go back to my original plan of waiting.

My mom still has her GE Monogram dishwasher from the early 90s in her house in Florida and it's still running (but it sounds like an airplane!). I'm definitely moving into the same camp, but it's not like I couldn't live without a dishwasher for a week! I guess the main thing I worry about is that they are more likely to leak when they get old but maybe that's not the case.

We ended up with a whole kitchen remodel due to a dishwasher leak (thank goodness State Farm covered it). I believe you can buy little water detection alarms (but we still don't have them). I wouldn't replace a perfectly good dishwasher until it started having issues or needed (overpriced) repairs. I just realized you said 2007 ,for some reason I thought 2017! So, I'd do whatever makes sense. I usually try to take that expense total and see if there is something else I should be replaceing/fixing whatever with that and then make the decision.

Just an FYI, Southwest Business Premier card currently has an all time high offer of 120k miles attached. It does have a high spending requirement (15k), but also flexibility if you don't want to shoot for the CP on a single card. You could earn 60,000 miles this year, let the 2nd tier bonus hit sometime in 2024 and then pick up another SW card in early 2024 to finish the CP (which would then run through 2025). This offer goes away on 8/28/23, though referral links seem to push it to 9/4/23.

This is has had me double guessing my strategy. I was going to have P2 get the Biz Performance in late October, then this one (Biz Premier) in December, while not finishing MSR on either until January. But now I don't know... what I don't like is that it delays getting the CP given the higher spend and we have a Feb trip to WDW.

Has anyone proactively replaced a dishwasher? I have an entry-level Bosch that I think was put in in 2007. Costco has an 800 Series on sale now. Just wondering if I should let mine die of natural causes or get rid of it before something goes wrong.

When we moved into our home in early 2017, the dishwasher was old already. I believe they said it was 12 years old which would put it at 2005, although we would never know for sure. We replaced it at the end of 2022. It sounded HORRIBLE. So loud you could hear it several rooms away, and sometimes we’d need to run it twice to get dishes clean. And we were replacing other appliances anyways because we wanted all stainless steel so we replaced it “proactively” but I feel like it was on its way out anyways.

Replying to myself here to update:

After a long hold, I was basically told, Chase offers are not guaranteed, he has no idea why the offers disappeared, and that if I don't receive the $5 after 14 days, I should call back and they will escalate. I politely told him I would not be calling back because I already wasted too much time on this for $5 and it was more of the principal, etc. I was calling to find out why the offers disappeared. I also told him my concern over being addressed as "Linda" in my SM and that Chase should do better, yada, yada, yada.

So lesson learned - check your added offers right before your purchase if you really want the offer. As I said, I am not going to cry over $5; even though with all three offers it would have been $15.

If the offer shows up I will update here again and let you know.

I don't know what they are thinking but they are making this care more expensive and less useful each year. Did they not let you get a Schwab one even without the SUB?

I’ve held mine for quite a few years now. Decided to keep it after a nice retention offer. Between the Amex offers and coupon book, I can justify keeping it for Centurion Lounge access. I doubt I will cancel next year.

im not willing to try and move a bunch of stuff open a brokerage account and find out and miss out on a few bucks in bonus (that is guaranteed). I don't have a swab account but I would do it for 80k points if that makes sense. that's a 1600$ bonus right there vs a few hundred I was waiting for.
off of the top of my head churners and fewer people in the lounge, and it used to be 3 people for 175 now if that's 195 a pop a person might get their own card maybe? I'm not sure tbh. Just speculation.

Quick Question - SW card two free early bird check-ins - are those credited on your next statement or on your year-end statement? For some reason I thought I saw that you don't receive the credit until your annual statement. Language on the card site just says "Two Early Bird Check-ins."

Rough day. My almost 17-year old dog got bit by something. She has a huge open wound on her belly and puncture wounds all over her inner thighs. She’s almost never outside by herself and all I ever see in the yard are bunnies and squirrels. She’s on antibiotics she painkillers but is very whiny and of course my daughter left for school today, my son is homesick, etc.

I saw a post on DoC saying it could be possible to apply as late as possible (9/4 I think) then requesting to change the due date to the 1st of the month, so that all SUBS post in 2024. I'm considering doing it but normally sure yet.

I got a similar message when my purchase through the Seat Geek app didn't credit me the $58 that was promised for Seat Geek purchases. Tried SM, they said to call. I decided not to bother calling, I did get the 5% for entertainment at least.

Question on Chase website - I have 2 cancelled personal cards it won't let me hide when I log in. Any workarounds? Not sure why, I have hidden cancelled accounts before. I cancelled my Bonvoy Boundless a few months ago and was just approved for a new one. Seems silly to still see the old one on there.

Oh poor baby! What do they think it was? Could it have been a snake? My parents dog got bit by a snake a few years back. They didn’t get a great look at the snake but thought it may be a copperhead (they are plentiful here) so they gave the dog antivenom just in case.

We have seen at least one copperhead in our yard every year we’ve lived here in the south, and it always scares me because of our two dogs. They have no fear, and have gone right up to 6 ft long black snakes in the yard trying to play with it, while it was coiled up trying to strike. (We keep the black snakes around as they are harmless and said to eat copperheads, but nevertheless I’m sure a bite would really hurt!) I never ever want them to encounter a copperhead though. We’ve had a pretty close call already… one was within 3 feet of one of my dogs just sunbathing, but thankfully the dog didn’t notice it and we were able to get him back inside before anything happened.
