Tomorrow starts my run of travel before I start crying because I'm back to school. Up first NC, then Cancun, then Vegas. My poor cats will be so lonely, LOL.
My 18yo was supposed to have jaw surgery at the end of this month. We went today for all her pre-op stuff. Come to find out, her Ortho hasn't moved her teeth enough for them to do it! I've been struggling to get all the other appts she needs in for this. I booked it like 5 mos ago too! And now I have NO IDEA when she'll get it done. We hit our deductible this year knowing she'd have surgery too! I'm not happy right now. And her Ortho can't see us till the 14th, when I'm in Vegas. So now instead of "free" we'll likely have to spend a ton and hit the deductible next year again. We NEVER hit it as we never really have that many bills. But this year w/ my DD in treatment, we hit it. Sigh.....I wonder is there a way to go after her ortho? I'm sure I'll get to pay $150+ for this visit too and we'll have to do another one before her surgery again. Her Ortho was upset that the surgeon was going to cancel because we couldn't get a sleep study done, but I finally found a dr who rushed to get us in. And then this happens.
They definitely needed to compensate you. Perhaps you got the large compensation because the first set of bozos should have happily given you your $70 back and didn't. Good work not giving up.
I wasn't lucky w/
Avis. They overcharged us. I tried emailing and twitter w/ no luck. Then I tried Chase for a chargeback and they refused to do it too. They said the receipt states the amount, so despite I have a confirmation with a lower rate, I'm stuck losing the $55. So I needed a "win" from some part of that trip.
I got my first referral bonus yesterday, 10k miles. Thanks to this board for reminding me. I didn't realize how easy it was to recommend cards to immediate family members. I have to make up for lost time now lol.
Yes, I love when I look and see I have a random bonus. Those are the best!
So I see TSwift is adding US/Canada dates for 2024. We didn't attempt last time, but have decided to this time, my DS and fiance really want to go. We've all just registered for the chance next week, but I seem to recall Capital One having a presale of some sort last go 'round? Does anyone know how that worked? No clue if they'll have another, but I'm presuming since they are a big sponsor.
*EDIT: I originally wrote my "DH and fiance"
I think the world is going after these tickets. I didn't realize it was for 2024. We've all signed up for Indy so far. We'll see if anyone gets lucky. Tik Tok is reporting that the presale will be over 3 days and you'll be assigned a certain time slot. Good Luck!
Add me to the eclipse "trip" list. It's not much of a trip for us though because we are not far from Indy. I booked one night at the Conrad on points about 6 weeks ago. Somehow, they had not jacked up their rates yet so I got very lucky. We saw the last eclipse and it was amazing. We are close enough we could have done a day trip. However, last time I did that and it took us about 6 hrs to make what is normally a 2 hr drive home. It was an absolute nightmare traffic situation and we had 5 kids in the van. We will stay the night this time.
Some maps say we should be in the area to catch it. But I think heading south to Toledo is better. But I've heard the horror stories of traffic. It's less than an hour normally, so I would hope it wouldn't be THAT much worse.
Regular tsa is not fun! And I’m flying out of a not big airport. Dreading coming back through fll without precheck.
I HATE peasant TSA as I call it. Honestly I hate the new cresent roll scanners DTW has. The North terminal they constantly get stuck. I also hate every person all over SM is telling everyone how to get TSA precheck and lounge access and now TSA precheck is 30 people deep when I flew Delta last month. GATE KEEP PEOPLE! I think groups like this are fine....but sharing to the masses is ruining it
For those that are Costco junkies... I just got my first membership! (Thanks Groupon) We've always been Sam's Club members, just because I always get it almost free (through Groupon or other saving methods), and I can never argue with free, lol. But we've heard SOOO many positive things about Costco, so we finally bit the bullet when I saw that nice Groupon deal come along.
I'd love to know about travel hacks through them... I feel like you guys have talked about cruises, or rental cars, saving through Costco? and maybe even things like car insurance? Please inform me of what I don't know!
Rental cars are always the cheapest through them! I honestly strictly have my costco membership for gas, wine, muffins and car rentals. Though I'll probably add starbucks egg bites to that list, LOL.
I did my first credit card points thing, the IHG card. I paid $99 and I got enough points to cancel out my $1059 reservation next Feb.
Now I need points to fly on American Airlines to Rome next April. It looks like we have several options for our timeframe from about 51-55k points. I saw the citi aa card gives 50, should I just do that? Or would you all recommend a different card? Ty!!
Look at Citi or Barclay.
