I just put in some dates, they can be flexible and it populates airfare. It's actually dynamic so will search as you move. I've also heard good things about kayak but google is my favorite. It brings up main cities and smaller ones that sometimes have better prices.

Staying in a castle would be awesome!! So, on google flights - can I just put in Europe and it will pick the cheapest airfare at different airports? I have never used it before. That would be most helpful.

We were supposed to stay at wdw 9/5-9/8 in a cars suite at AoA but last night found a confirmed dvc reservation at GF! It’s in a lake view studio for 3 nights and it was only $750!! This has always been my dream resort and I can’t believe we’ll be staying there for so cheap. We’re also saving about $400 to not stay at AoA and won’t have to pay to parking. Ds is obsessed with the monorail so he’ll get to ride it for the first time. Being local definitely has it’s perks because we can pick up these last minute reservations that people cancel.
you have me wishing I lived local so I could snap up deals like that!

My little guy is obsessed with the monorail too and would cheer/clap when he saw the monorail or see it coming. The security CMs loved it and would cheer with him too.

So went to Google Flights (that is an awesome site...). Put in dates for about the same time in 2022 that we would go in 2023. Right now the cheapest Airport is London, flying by United. So, thinking we may need to get some United Credit Cards to help with flights.

1. How easy/hard are United Cards to get - both Personal and Business
2. Can you combine points with family members? Assuming not....
3. Can you Venmo easily on these cards for SUB?

Just realized this are Chase Cards.... I am at 5/24 unitl October. DH is 4/24 so may need to get a Biz card for him. Could have the kids get a card but they both just opened CSP's end of July. So they will need to wait a few months also. But if we all get cards - that will help with some of the flights.

Need to put spend on new Amex Gold but should I stick with the CSR for rental car? Looks like the CSR provides the better coverage. Or do you think the Gold is adequate?

I have been tracking my rental prices for about a month now. I started at $720 for a subcompact and am now down to $465 for a intermediate SUV. Still way more than I want to spend, but it is 11 days. I have found AAA to be the cheapest. I always check Costco (even though I don't have a membership), I feel it gives me a good idea what to aim for. Right now cheapest Costco is over $100 more for a car, not SUV, than the AAA price.
I would put it on the Gold and pay for the premium insurance from AMEX. People that have used both say that the coverage from Amex is better. I usually just use my CSP, but if you need the spend I would pay the premium for AMEX.

Have you set up an alert on Autoslash? They've helped me immensely in the last few years with all of my auto rentals.

1. Super easy, Chase has 4 different United Cards. And the United Explorer has a really good offer at the moment. the support link offer is 60,000 bonus miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open, plus 10,000 bonus miles after you spend $6,000 total on purchases in the first 6 month + waived AF. The business card also has a good offer.
2. No, you can't combine points but you can transfer your URs from Chase. Also, once you get your first United card, you can create a support link for P2 to use. And you can easily book flights from each account.
3. No idea, but they are Chase cards which are easier to meet SUBs.

He’s seen it but never ridden it. He has those first 100 vehicle books and loves pointing at the monorail

Thanks, will look into the Amex insurance more. I have just been randomly redoing my autoslash search. The AAA quotes have consistently been the lowest for my searches.

Chase business cards! You found your email from approx June 8.

My mind is like a sieve! I remember now! Thanks! I actually used my CIC on Sunday and I have to go back for some other stuff, but after searching in the rewards area of the card, I found everything but that offer.

Just looked at the email again and found it. Saves me stopping at Staples to buy a Lowes gift card (actually in the same shopping center so not a huge deal). I actually have a Lowes card but 5% off doesn't beat 5 UR's.

I received a 5% HI offer emailed in early June…you need to accept it up to a $10 k spend on my CIC…but it expires 8/31

Yes, earlier this month I was talking about it myself, but it took a trip to the back of my mind! @Psychodisney reminded me earlier. Thanks to both of you!

I'm a mess these days. Son's wedding fast approaching. So much rain my yard got away from me and it grew too high and I had to rake the stuff. In 90 degree heat and dreadful humidity, I could only do a little each morning, so sweat, sweat, sweat. Since retiring I've gotten used to a laid back life and it's just been so busy lately.

I'm also doing some major clean out and donating. Sometimes it's hard to let go but again, too much stuff means out of control and more work to keep organized so stuff has to go.

First visit DS was 4. He loved trains of any sort. Monorail was a ride itself. We even watched fireworks from it one night. Just kept riding the loop.
add my ds to the monorail crazy list! He was 7 on his first visit, and our very first ride, we rode up front. He was in heaven!
He also did the steam train tour that trip, also in heaven LOL

He’s not super into trains but loves the monorail. Yesterday we went to a library with a train table and it had a little monorail that he loved and wouldn’t let go of. He also likes school buses and garbage trucks right now.

I feel you! I spent 11 hours over 3 days pressure washing the deck for my sister’s bridal shower only to have it rain on Sun and had to move into the house. Her wedding is Fri at OCMD. Hopefully the rain holds out since the wedding on the beach at 59th St.

Thanks for this. Given me some stuff to go on and think about. I have never been anywhere internationally (except Mexico and the Caribbean) so as much as I love planning vacations. I don't know much about planning this type of travel and gives me anxiety.....
Right there with ya! I want to do Europe so much, but I find it overwhelming, especially with at least 4 of us. The only international I have done is Costa Rica with DH, thinking of taking the kids there.

My DS at 2 loved riding the boat from WL to MK, back and forth, back and forth for hours. Thank goodness the captain didn’t mind us sitting on the boat.

I feel like the train has been down every trip since our first. We did ride it a few times that trip. They used to give transportation cards, like trading cards with WDW buses and monorail. DS collected a bunch that first trip.

We took the boat when we stayed at the cabins and he didn’t care for them. He’s not great at sitting still for very long so the short monorail ride should be good. I’m not sure if he’ll even understand he’s inside the monorail. I’m sure as he gets older things like this will get easier

I have a Southwest card that is 15+ years old. Now that we don't fly with kids anymore we are moving away from flying SW. I don't want to lose the credit history but I don't want to pay the annual fee anymore. I was reading about calling and asking to downgrade it to the Freedom but some websites are saying you can't switch from a branded card to a Chase card. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I called Chase today and asked about possibly waiving the annual fee on my SWA Priority card. The first person I spoke with said they couldn't do anything and asked if I wanted to cancel :/ I said I'd think about it and hung up and immediately called again. The 2nd person offered me a $150 credit to offset the annual fee (lol).
