Just paid my DCL summer 2021 Dover to Copenhagen cruise in full. Now waiting for a cancellation and for summer 2022 to open up.

And I seriously hate snow! I really need to move to SW FL soon and was talking to my sister last night and my parents are really going to start needing help soon. But DS still has two years in high school:( And I have no clue what I'd do down there.

March should be warmer. We had beautiful weather last March. But, I've been in March where it rained a lot. Still, I would pick March over February. Which Marriott are you looking at?

A lot of DVC'ers are 'discovering' that they love Hilton Head this year. It's a nice, family place. Not at all like Myrtle Beach, although I liked MB; but prefer HH. It's freaking me out because the trend might continue and make it harder for me to get what I want. I work with a small amount of points and use my other points at 7 months. This year I was in for my week before others decided they didn't want to do WDW yet.

Don't be afraid to book a place not on the water as it's pretty easy to get to, with quite a bit of public access. But if you see it now for points ,get it. You can always cancel, but most of March will fill up, especially this year.

Edit: How will you travel? Fly or drive? Will you dine out or in?

We will drive, cook a lot, and do takeout or delivery, same as home, pretty much. The Disney resort villas all have outdoor exits and balconies so it's fairly easy to stay away from others, plus we will use our own car and not travel on the shuttle at all. Stairs are all outside so will also avoid the one elevator, it's only 3 levels to walk up for the highest level if I end up in the Lodge.

The dining out so much is what I’m most uncomfortable with. Though we have been in a hotel for the last 2 nights, 1 more to go dropping kids off back to college and we have just been doing takeout and have not gone in any restaurants.

DH wants to fly but I would rather drive. So everything is up in the air right now. I do think March will be better but Ughhhh to the snow and cold. Lol. I’m ready to go somewhere warmer now.

Hope you got your C'Ville drop off done before the storm hit.

Question on Uber credit with AmEx Platinum cards. I use mine on UberEats - we do not have any restaurants in my town, so I do pickup in a town about 20 minutes away. I really don't want to do a pickup tonight, but I also don't want to lose the $30 of free food.

I see I can schedule for pickup tomorrow. If I do that, will the charge go through since I'm ordering today and therefore use this month's credit, or since it will be picked up tomorrow, will it use February's credit?

oh my goodness, we had to redo our whole trip to avoid this dumb storm. Lol. Original plan was C’Ville and back Saturday, then to South Bend Sunday and back home Monday. Friday afternoon we decided to leave that night so we could try to avoid the worst. DS had not even started to pack. In fact he had to UNPACK lol and then repack. He had been home for 2 months living out of his suitcases. I think he brought home his whole dorm room. Shorts and everything. Lol. He said he didn’t want to think what he would need so just brought home almost everything. So after DH was done working and DS was done packing we left around 7 pm and got to Charlottesville just before midnight and spent night at a Hyatt. Dropped him off at 9 am, drove back home and loaded up DD and left immediately for South Bend. We got to South Bend at around 8:30 pm, staying at another Hyatt. We had no snow the whole trip so the drive wasn’t too bad. We are still here, DD can’t move in until her Covid test and that is scheduled for tomorrow morning. So hopefully storm will be all done and we will drive back tomorrow. They were predicting 5-8” here and they ended up not getting very much. The things we do for our kids. I’m really not happy DS did not want to go here with his sister. It would make our life too easy I guess. Lol

I am with you! I am over snow. We have 3 years until DS graduates and we move some place warm and never see this stuff again. I am hoping my agency will let me work remotely or I’ll just take an early out.

I think I’ve made a decision, but I’d like a few opinions on the JetBlue 100000 offer that ends tonight vs possibly pulling the Amex 125000 platicorn.

I’ve pulled the 100000 platicorn two or three times, each time I’ve looked, about a year ago, but never pulled the trigger. I don’t plan on any international travel in the next few years. The credits are just “meh” to me. My fear is I’d be in pop up jail after this first Amex card, and wouldn’t be able to get a placeholder card to hold the MRs unless I get it right after the platinum card. That would be a bit of a problem for me, because I’d have to really work to meet the spend on the platinum, let alone a second card.

The reason for that is I have pretty low spend. To give you an idea, my last two cards were a SW personal and biz for the companion pass about a year ago. To meet the spend on those, I bought a lot of grocery gift cards. I STILL have about $150 in gift cards to spend. ( note to self: buy more Walmart cards next time.) My only other regular spend used to be outings with the grands, but those haven’t happened for almost a year.

Oh!!! Wait a second! I do have a large charge coming in September for a December family cruise, if it happens. Fingers crossed. So, I think I’ll go for the JetBlue tonight and try the Amex, or at least some kind of card, just befor the final payment is due, assuming the cruise line takes Amex. Off to check now.

Does anyone see any reason for me to try for something other than JetBlue? I pretty much have all the Chase cards I want right now, and although I have done two biz cards in the past, I’m still a little skittish on them, particularly with some of the recent data
points. Thanks!

We are heading to HHI in March as well. There are plenty of places to pick up or eat outside. It should be warm enough in March to eat outside. We were there last week and it was really nice during the day, but too chilly at night to eat outside.

We love it there and have been lots lately with our new emptynester status.

Just got back from Kroger and got 6x fuel points with a Disney $500 gift card. They are offering 4x fuel points on gift cards and then extra points for shopping on the weekend. The 4x fuel points ends tonight, but I would watch and see if they offer it again before the weekend promo ends on 2/14. Hopefully we can use the fuel points before they expire at the end of February.

With our dog dying over Christmas break this will be the first time we truly have an empty nest. I think that is why I wanted to push it up to February. I’m a little sad at thinking about being at home with no kids and no dog.

I don't blame you! And that sounds like a really long weekend!

Has anyone been to Wilmington, NC? We are thinking of places we could drive to this year for domestic travel. We’ve been to nearly all the beaches in our state (SC) and thinking of possibly renting a beach house in Wilmington this year. If you’ve been, did you like it?

I've been able to avoid most winter storms the last 5-6 years. Even got annual leave returned while out of town when I was still working. I was just talking to a friend and she says she still loves it. I can't stand it. I used to ski and skate and be active in winter but I've lost that part of me and just want to be in a warmer spot in winter.
