I ended up making an AA account and using the chat function directly with AA.
Took about 30min but we got our flight changed to a different one (different day, different layover, waaay more money if I had cancelled and re-booked like chase told me to in my email.) Already have a new email from chase telling me that American has changed my flight.

I love when you can do all of that through the chat function and NOT have to sit on hold and then try to spell names, etc out for people.

thanks for encouraging me to reach out directly to them instead of dealing with chase. 😂

Does anybody know if you can prepay a FHR and get the credit? I don't see why it would work but I also really despise trying to work a deal and then spending money to have it not work.

I Haven't used my FHR credit on our Schwab Platinum and I don't really have time in the schedule for an overnight before 12/31 but if I could book for the January/February...

It should work!

In order to get the $200 credit, you need to prepay. And the booking doesn’t need to be in 2021. It can be in 2022. You just won’t get a 2nd chance to use the credit, if you end up needing to cancel.

If I book a flight on Delta using my miles and cancel (not Basic Economy) are the miles refunded? Looking at flights to Mexico in Feb. Just found out the BF does have that time off! Now to get him to plan a vaca w/ me!

Yes! I booked a March stay!

We had post office appts for our two little ones to get one passport renewal and a first passport back in October. They processed the check in November and this week got a notice in the mail that both of the photos that they received with the applications were "damaged." What a hassle and now we need to mail stuff back in. I don't understand how that happens. Everything looked fine when it was being processed at the post office.

We had a similar problem...the good news is once they received our new photos we received our new passports within a week so it's not like you go to the end of the line (or at least we didn't).

Is getting a rental car still difficult? I managed to snag a few days at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort for July when the 7th month opened up and we plan to drive to HHI from Savannah.

Anybody travelling in the next few days on United, check your flights. Apparently there is an issue with too many 737 pilots out with COVID. They've already cancelled a lot of flights tomorrow, which might lead to follow on disruptions for the rest of the weekend. I've seen speculation they might change some routes from a 737 to a 777.

For those who have the Cap one Venture x, I already received a $200 credit for my Airbnb stay at DLP Dec 20 for 2 nights. Our cost was $230. It codes as vacation rental credit. I’m getting my DD global entry so already the card has given $300 in benefits and there’s still the $300 Cap one credit for booking thru their travel portal. I plan on renting a car for WDW in February, plus you get 10x miles for car or hotel rental thru the portal. And double miles on all other purchases. So if anyone is on the fence and would benefit from these perks, I think it has some great ones. I signed up for a LifeMiles account as that is one of the dozen or so airlines you can transfer points to. Anyone familiar with LifeMiles and how easy or hard they are to use?
On another note, we had a fabulous day in Colmar! Everyplace was decorated for Christmas! But the best part was enjoying it with my 2 children who hadn’t seen each other in over a year! DH arrives Christmas Eve and DD and DSIL and baby are meeting him at the airport in Frankfurt.. He’s going to cry like a baby meeting his first DGS! 😍

What app were people using for passport photos? I'm looking to try and sneak in an appt for the kids prior to the rate going up. HELP!

If you're a AAA member, you can go to a AAA center and they will take passport photos for you for free. I used it last year for my passport renewal and it was quick, easy, and you know it's going to be done correctly. A lot of people don't realize some of the side benefits AAA membership offers and that is one of them.

Add Delta to the list. And Jet Blue. American seems to be just fine. Speculation is that they were operating on razor thin margins this weekend anyway, and then pilots started testing positive. Some DL pilots are saying there were never enough pilots scheduled for this weekend, and that it's been known issue for weeks.
As of 7am EST, cancellations on 12/24:
United 169
Delta 120
American 8

Capitol One X has me intrigued currently....but have I read here that a lot of you have difficulty using the portal? And their portal is the only way to book and get that $300 credit, right? It seems like a good deal....I'm just not sure it's valuable enough for me to hit 5/24 again for about a year..... or maybe p2 needs another cc....what do y'all think of this offer and how usable it is?

I think it is inevitable all airlines will have issues with flight crews in the next couple weeks (at least). My son and DIL fly out of LGA to Texas Monday night and have to be at work Tuesday...fingers crossed! They have an Aulani trip planned early March and are already wondering if that will happen due to flight crews having to quarantine? It's so sad that some flyers will spend Christmas eve and Christmas at the airport... 🎅

Starting the savings/earning 5x on DVC dues early this year since I've maxed out the PayPal 5x already on my cards. I had the 10% off CVS Chase offer on 4 cards so I bought 4 Disney GCs with $40 on each. So I'm at $16 saved on next year's annual dues so far. The goal is to save over $1,000 out of pocket like I did this year and get 5x on the rest. One baby step at a time LOL
