WTH is it with my luck and Office Supply managers making their own rules? Today's fun? I went to the OD by school. Grabbed an "everywhere" card where it's a variable load. The OD closer to my home, asks to see ID, no biggie. Well the one by school refuses to allow you to buy a variable load card w/ a credit card. I can buy as many $200 VGC w/ my credit card, but apparently if I want a variable load, it has to be cash!

Considering how much more of a PITA the VCGs are, plus the fees are $4 more......Not worth it! So my goal was to buy at least $2800 more this week....that got knocked down to $1600. UGH. I can't catch a break w/ these "rules" managers are making up and trying to tell me are corporate.

Ds and I were supposed to stay at the Platzl -- fantastic location in the Marienplatz. It is on the UR portal.
I’m sorry to hear about your cancelled trip with DS for the Christmas markets. DD is stationed here at Ramstein, Germany as an Air Force nurse and is expecting our first grandchild. I flew in November 1st. Her due date was the 8th but 10 days later, still waiting. They finally admitted her tonight so hope to welcome our first grandson on the 18th. She’s only allowed 1 person at the hospital and of course I can’t sleep (it’s 1am here) waiting on news. DD loves to travel and is planning several Christmas markets but with a new baby, we’ll see how that goes! 😊

Ugh! Our PIF for Christmas cruise was yesterday and I called and emailed my travel agent yesterday and Tues to finish payment. The guy has not responded to either my emails or voicemails. My Christmas plans better not get ruined. Definitely will not use him again.

Update: Crisis averted! Felix apparently left the travel agency so a new rep completed the transaction and added the gratuity as requested. Cruise was $3800 with gratuities and suite - $1200 in AmEx offers - $300 OBC so $2300 for a Christmas cruise in a suite! Not too bad!

What does it mean if chase runs your credit but says they still need more time. Does that mean I’m approved?

Please share more about the cruise. Where are you going, how big of a party, and what line? I don't know much about cruising but that seems like a fantastic deal!!

I meant the support from your biz plat once you get it. The best time to do the 4x is during MSR. You have to do the 15k spend anyways, then you get an additional 60k on the spend. The biz plat is the only one that has 15k plus the 4x.

If you get a bonus offer for employee cards on the biz plat, you can stack that too.

Your post got me thinking... I just received an Amex biz plat email with NLL. So if approved, I would then support P2 using the biz plat support link (15k plus 4x). He can then sign up for any card (thinking more of a no fee/minimum spend card). Is that part correct? If I understand it correctly, I'm thinking this is how it'll shake out:

PointsSourceSpend
150,000SUB$15k spend
15,0001-1.5 pts/$1
15,000support for P2
60,0004pts/$1
240,000

I value MR at 1.5 cpp, so that equates to $3600, less #595 AF.

This wasn't on my radar; looks like I'd need to make a decision soon as the support links expire 12/01. Thoughts?

We are cruising RCCL Explorer of the Seas 12/19-26/21 out of San Juan. We stop at St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. Marteen, St. Lucia, Barbados and St. Kitts. There are 3 adults since DS14 counts as one. Our TA gave us a $300 OBC, bottle of champagne upon arrival, free soda package for DS and dinner for 4 at Johnny Rockets. We did the guaranteed suite booking so we’ll see where we end up. I am hoping in a one bedroom that included the concierge lounge. I don’t know when our room will be assigned.

We have been to St. Thomas and St. Marteen before so we will stay onboard at those stops, I think.

I m excited to be cruising again!

Is the offer still valid for employee cards as well? That would be another 20K if I recall.

I got Biz Plat, added P2 as employee with a green card. P2 used my support link for a BBP. I am raking in MR right now.

Yes, I fully support this plan! That's the card I've been working on MSR right now. Here is what I replied to @snugglebug last month:
It's even better if you open one, refer P2 to an Amex card of your choice (I got a $0 AF biz card for P2) using the current support offer of 15K MR plus 4xMR on all spending up to $25K spend (exp. 12/1/21). That way, you'll be stacking MRs on top of your SUB. And there's also a current offer to add employee cards (green ones are free) and get 20K MR for $4K spend per employee card up to 100K MR total. If you have five employee cards to max out that offer, you could rake in MRs.

In my case I got a 150K MR/$15K MSR SUB targeted offer. P2 got an Amex card using my link, so that I could get the additional 4xMR. P2 has an employee card from my Biz Plat. So on that employee card, I'm getting 20xMR per dollar on the first $4K spend: 10x from SUB + 1x regular earning + 4x supportal + 5x employee card.

P2's NAF Biz Lowe's card came with a $100 statement credit. I added the Happy Cards Amex offer to it, and bought a $100 Happy Card, and still have a $15 credit on it from the Amex offer.

I added employee cards for the extra 20K bump per card (link in my quote above), and have had one of those post already. I'm seeing the +4MR on every purchase; it tends to post 3-4 days after the purchase.

All correct! Crazy that it all stacks.

The Hilton and Delta SUBs are elevated if you have any interest in those. BBP is good to hold MRs, at 15k for $3000 spend, no AF. The Lowe's biz is good for no spend, no AF.

I was targeted for the gold biz. Not as good as the plat biz, but the 4x restaurants will be nice. DH is maxed at 5 credit cards, so had to do a charge card. Supported him to a green biz. 25k for $3000 spend, AF waived first year. Then that card was offered the employee card offer (20k for $4000). Will do the entire MSR on the employee card and end up with 45k for $4000 spend.

Looking for help with a hotel in San Diego. I'm looking at the Hilton Harbor Island, DoubleTree downtown and the Hampton Liberty Station. Going with my wife and 10 year old. He wants to spend his 10th birthday at the San Diego Zoo, Other than the Zoo, Safari Park and SeaWorld, we really have no plans. We are Hilton Diamond so would theoretically get an upgrade at the Hilton or DoubleTree. Which would you choose and why? The price difference between the three are negligible.

This would be awesome, if we could do the huge spending. Because you have to do the $15K MSR for the SUB, plus the spend on the card the sent the original support link correct? That's where you will earn the extra 4pts?

You earn extra 4x on the $15k MSR. Because you're supporting from the biz plat. There is no extra spend. It stacks.

Great suggestion on the NAF Lowe’s card.

So the spend on the employee cards counts towards my MSR AND their “20k MSR?”

So, if I understand it correctly, I only have the $15k MSR targeted Biz plat. I signup for that through the targeted email and generate the support link. P2 uses support link to sign up for no spend/NAF Lowe’s card, which earns me an additional 4pts on the Biz plat I am working towards $15k MSR. So my total MSR is only $15k, right?

@snugglebug, @platamama, @wanderlust7 This is absolutely crazy. I’d love if you can confirm I’m following along correctly!

This is how I'm understanding it. And I think we can totally do this! Thanks for the suggestion.

Correct! The MSR and the 4x applies to spend on the main card and any additional cards. I double checked the terms. :) You'll have to make sure that $4000 goes on the employee card since that spend is specific to the employee card. (But it will also count towards MSR and 4x.)
