Ooh. That one looks so nice! What are you planning to do in Okinawa? Curious since I would still like to go to Japan, but after looking at a couple of photos I'm not sure I'd be willing to leave the hotel if I was there. :rotfl:

Seriously, though, your trip is coming together nicely.

Thanks! I have a CSP. Dh does not and he would be the renter on one of the cards. Have you ever had to use the insurance? He has CIC CIU Amex BBP, Delta Plat. Can’t remember what else at moment 😜

CIC and CIU wouldn't be primary unless you were renting for business purposes, or outside the country, or didn't have personal insurance.

What are the limits on the coverages provided by AHI insurance? Where is the trip going? FTR, I almost always purchase trip insurance from a third party for travel outside of North America with high limits for all coverages, just in case and for peace of mind.

What happens if a relative gets sick or passes away (either before you leave or while you're on the trip)? Is this covered under credit card trip cancellation insurance? If yes, what is the covered limit versus the cost of your trip?

How does AHI insurance handle pre-existing conditions? How does credit card insurance handle them?

I don't think that either the CSR or AmEx plat offer "cancel for any reason coverage".

I'd ask to see a copy of the AHI policy, compare it to credit card insurance and buy insurance to fill-in the gaps. I have had to use travel insurance and you want to ensure that you have the most comprehensive policy available to you, should something unforeseen happen.
All good points, @*WDW*Groupie* I will ask to see the to see what the policy is. It's a trip to Dubai in the spring.

There's so many things to do on the main island, nevermind all the stuff I'll be skipping on the other nearby islands. These are my rough notes from excel but I have way more stuff bookmarked. I'd started planning the Tokyo part and gave up the end of the year, so I never made it down to Okinawa.

If I remember correctly, there's another unesco world heritage site, but I think it's more difficult to get to. It's quite different from the main part of Japan. And now that I have 3 nights instead of 2, I need to add more to my list and take some off probably.
Shuri Castle, rebuilt - Unesco - fire in oct 19, find something else
Relax
Pedicure
Beach
Rykyu Glass Village
Peace Memorial Park
Former Japanese Naval Underground Headquarters
Shikina-en royal garden - rebuilt?
American Village
kayak or paddleboard
massage

It got on my radar after I watched the episode that goes with this article that Dr. Sanjay Gupta did about Japan's oldest population and what they ate. I'm also not a sit on the beach person, but wanted something in the middle to slow things down a bit. I will rent a car here, which should make things interesting driving on the other side of the road :car:

We've taken a few really long trips, and placing a more relaxed, laid-back destination in the middle of all the hard touring days has really made those trips more enjoyable. I avoid the sun, but love the beach (in the shade) and it looks lovely there. I'll have to look into the places you shared above when/if we try to book again. I'm still not ready to plan something big and have to cancel it again, but I am also really hoping that travel returns to some kind of normal next year.

It's petty but I have never been more glad NOT to be booked on a flight over the past weekend/this week. Seeing all the crowds and the Southwest meltdown just sets off my anxiety. What a freaking nightmare. Everyone stranded has my sympathy, that's for sure.
First vacation for me since Jan 2020. (Staying with my parents after Ralph passed does NOT qualify as a vacation!) I am flying to Phoenix tomorrow for a week. Of course it is on Southwest. 😡 Today's flight took off on time, fingers crossed tomorrow's is equally successful.

I decided to be crazy and I booked a day trip for my birthday just on Saturday on Southwest. I feel very lucky our only issue was a 90min delay coming home.

Belated Happy Birthday! And, where did you go?

I at first thought of Disney, but wondered if there were day flights that would get you there and back.

From BWI, there used to be early morning and late evening nonstops that I would yearn over but never did. However I do know someone wo did it several times.

Our friends that were visiting from Baltimore got caught in the SW fiasco. Their direct flight from Tampa home on Saturday night was cancelled 2 hours before departure. They rented a car on Sunday and drove to Orlando for an evening flight that they were put on that would go to Ft. Myers and than home. They got to Ft. Myers and it was cancelled. They rented another car and drove to Ft. Lauderdale where they finally got out yesterday morning at 6AM. What a nightmare.

OMG, they should have just driven home rather than flying and driving all over FL. Glad they made it home!

My latest CIU app was given a $3K limit. Now that I've met the MSR it looks like Chase raised it to $5100. With 0% for the first year I am carrying a small balance on it rather than drain savings to pay for some unexpected expenses, not sure if that's why.

Also got good news on my CIC application! :cheer2: After more than a week of hearing nothing, I tried the automated application status line, which couldn't find my SS# and so I was transferred to a customer service specialist. They confirmed that my application had just been approved (with a credit line of $3000) and I should receive my card in about a week. Holiday shopping should help a lot with that MSR so it's good timing! First business card application was a success, will have to decide where to go from here in a few months once I meet this MSR :scratchin

Trying to map out my next few cards. I will need something to charge my property taxes to in November and I just wrapped up my MSR on a CIC this week. Ideally I would like to get a SW CP since my DH's expires at the end of the year, sadly we only used it for one trip :-(
I also will need a card to keep my MRs safe once my Plat is up for renewal. I'm actually not sure when exactly that will be. I took a NLL upgrade on my Gold card at the end of January this year, my Gold had juuuust reached its one year mark then. I will also be eligible for a Sapphire bonus again in March.
Here's our current cards from the past 24 months:

P1 (3/24)-
CIP - 11/19
Amex Gold - 12/19
JetBlue Plus - 7/20
Hyatt - 11/20
CIC (with EIN didn't reach MSR needed for legit business) - 1/21
CIC (sole prop) - 7/21

P2 (4/24)-
CIP - 10/19
SW Priority - 1/20
SW Plus - 1/20
CSP - 9/20
BBP - 6/21
(also, added as AU to help meet Plat MSR)

I currently have a CSR, AF paid back in May and Travel credit resets in December. P2's AF for the CSP just posted and was going to keep so he can support me next year. I was declined a CIC in May, so I am a bit weary of trying for SW business cards. Should I maybe go for an Amex biz card for my taxes and hold out for a better bonus on the SW personals? I did get an Amex popup last time I tried, but since then took the Plat upgrade and currently have a no interest balance on the Plat and am charging all my Paypal purchases to my Bonvoy for the 10x, so hoping those will get me in their good graces again.
