A Southwest update: First, @palhockeymomof2 and @SouthFayetteFan, thanks for the reassurance and explanation. For me though, their system update started at 6 pm EST - well before 8 pm CDT! However, things were pretty much back to normal this morning. This was interesting though: yesterday I read somewhere (could have been here, I don't recall) that not only was Southwest not imposing change/cancellation fees, they also weren't imposing the fare change. I thought, "Well that can't be right." But it is, apparently, as long as you don't change the arriving/departing airports. This morning I booked a one-way flight for myself using travel funds, so I picked the lowest cost flight for my date, and after it was booked went back in and changed it to the flight I really wanted, saving myself $74. Then I booked four round-trip flights for my sister and her family, choosing the lowest cost flight each way regardless of the times, and then went back in and changed their flights to the ones they really wanted, saving them hundreds. They now think I'm a genius. :rotfl2:

PS (My flights and theirs are for a trip to Disney from 5/1-5/8 - WOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

If I want the $200 travel credit on my Amex Plat to apply to Southwest flights, I make sure Southwest is my airline of choice (I haven't picked one yet since I just got the Plat), and then make sure the charge to the Plat is ... up to $100? Or $100 or less?

Dear Southwest,
Maybe consider not putting out an initial schedule that you know you're going to change, especially those direct flights I like to book.
Love, Me

I'm so over this mess. Since they started these schedule changes I've not had one flight that hasn't been changed for me. Most of the time the new flights are not great.
Previous: Leave MCO at 7:40pm direct to AUS 9:30pm
New: Leave MCO 5:15 to Nashville at 6:15, leave Nashville at 8:55 to AUS at 11:05
:badpc:

Can we at least head to an airport that has a nice PP lounge?! This new flight is not an option for me when I search flights between MCO and AUS, I'd rather have the last flight out with a change in HOU and get home at 9:55. These flights have EBCI and I am dreading messaging them to make the change. The last time I did that we lost EBCI on the companions.

If I PC a card I need to keep it that way for a year, right?

Mine were $70 per ticket

Whenever you see us mention the "Southwest Change Window is Open" this is what we mean. It provides for some unique strategies to save money or points.

I'm not sure you'll find a flight for $100.00 the way the taxes and fees work. Personally I've taken to the strategy of less than $100 (so even $99.98 worked) and I've never had any issues.

Without dumb luck I don't know where I'd be sometimes :rotfl2:
For those looking for a little more info on how the change window works - here's a little more about it from my first report of this loophole back in Sept 2019. Southwest has now expanded this to be 30 days (it used to be 14).

Since then some have refined their process to include some more complex strategies.

Two Chase questions...
Venmo still works for meeting an MSR correct, until early April?
We think paying income taxes will still not be a cash advance, even after early April?

Thanks!
rephrasing this question LOL. With my cash advance limit lowered to $100, any charges over that would be denied, if Chase deemed them to be a cash advance, correct?

I take them to Food Lion and buy money orders ($0.46) in $500 increments. Then I take the money orders to Chase and they apply them to my monthly payment.
Very nice; thank you.

My mortgage is with some company I've never heard of so that probably wouldn't work for me!

I'm still going to check into the money orders to pay off my car loan at my bricks and mortar credit union, though!

hold onnnnnn I think I missed something somewhere..... is something changing so we can't pay taxes of any sort with a biz card?

You can mail them but honestly that seems like a huge hassle. Especially with the current state Usps is in.

Proof that you ARE a genius ——> You’re following this thread aren’t you?

Piggybacking on this. I'm totally new to the Amex world. I've made Southwest my airline on my Plat. Can someone explain to me like I'm five what specific charges will code to activate the credit?

Does anyone have any recent experience with United 1st class? How is the United Club? How was the flight experience? I am thinking about for our flight from BWI to HNL next month.

cant help u with BWI but the one in LAX was really really nice. the food was excellent too. i would much rather go to a UA club than a priority pass lounge. They compare well to an amex centurion lounge, id would say better sometimes...
united first or united polaris? i heard good things about Polaris... also heard the sundaes are excellent in the air lol.

we spent 3 days at Mt Rainier, stayed at the skii resort (Crystal Mountain) which was nice. spent 2 days in Seattle and one in Everest for Boeing plant visit.
we skipped the other NP due to timing, we were only there for 6 days.
highly recommend renting silvercar, it was nice having a beefy car with the sunroof going around Mt Rainier.

Forgot about the Boeing plant. We did that as well and it was amazing. I didn't look to see if they are still doing tours with COVID or not. We also stopped at one of the museums that is close by - armored vehicles. Lots of interesting tanks from all over.
