Does the card you’re cancelling have an annual fee? They might want you to talk to retention and may even have an offer for you to keep it open.
So I just got off chat. They asked what other card I was using to point out how many points I can earn with the Hilton biz on things other than travel. I then said "yes, but the points would be used for travel, which isn't happening much these days." So it was hard to justify the annual fee. Then I decided to straight up ask if they could waive the annual fee for a year.
She said she couldn't do that because it came with the card, but "because they value my loyalty" she could offer a $50 statement credit. No spend required. So I said ok to that.
I'm ok with basically now a $45 annual fee and hope it helps me with avoiding Amex pop-ups in the year to come.
DH has the same card and was going to cancel it, but of course was worried about getting a pop-up, too. AMEX just straight out sent him an email for the $50 credit when it was time for him to either pay the AF or cancel, so he kept it. Glad you were able to get the credit - I wonder why it didn't come automatically though. Well, whatever it takes to keep them happy!
You can ask via SM to move CL from one card to another ....I also have a DH who wouldn’t call so I’ve done it that wayYeah, I probably do. DH isn't going to call though. It's not a huge deal, I will make do![]()
yes it’s the Amex Hilton Biz
whyyyyy are they giving me a hard time then ? Ugh
*sigh*
guess I just got unlucky.
ECCA? (End chat chat again)?
LOL!I’m a new parent. I’d rather it be changed to something else![]()
Is the annual fee worth it? This would be my card. I just got a job within the last month. And I don’t really know much about annual fees on CCs.
Thanks for all your help.
There are two ways to use Chase UR for travel. Book through the Chase portal or transfer to partners. In order to transfer to partners you have to have one of the Chase UR cards that have an annual fee. Now that Alaska is becoming part of the OneWorld Airline Alliance you would be able to transfer UR to a couple of different partners and use their frequent flyer programs to book Alaska flights. If you're just starting out you may want to get the Freedom Unlimited or CFU and just bank the points until you're offered a Sapphire Preferred or Reserve.Hi everyone, I asked a question a while back about chase freedom unlimited or discover it cash back. I’ve been doing some more research about what I can do with chase rewards. We live in the PNW so the best flight to MCO is from Alaska air. My question is, it seems chase doesn’t offer Alaska air in their rewards center and I’ve heard that you don’t want cash back because it doesn’t pay back much. So should I go with the discover card instead? It seems to make more sense to me, but I would appreciate some more experienced thoughts.
I'm watching the debate tonight because it is taking place on the campus of my alma mater. I've got a bottle of wine chilling for the occasion. A lot has changed since I graduated in 1985; I don't think the building they are in was even built when I was there. I did live across from the emergency entrance to the hospital one year, lots of ambulances arriving, but my apartment building has been consumed by university/hospital sprawl.
Another version of HUCA! Good luck!

I think I will go with the cfu, then when I build more credit look at Alaska. Is there anything I need to know about when I apply?

We also canceled our Oct trip. We have Spring Break booked, but who knows how things will play out. Of all of us, my DH is taking it the hardest. He's the hard-core Disney fanatic here.Made the difficult decision to cancel our Oct trip. The excitement of anticipation is just not there. I don't know if it is too short notice, but I did ask David's if they could list my BWV studio on their dedicated reservation page. Anyone want to go Oct 17-21, it may show up! Now I really wish I had cancelled my AP for a refund. It's good till early March now, but who knows if I will get there in Feb even?

Congrats! And thank you for further adding to my “unlimited” hypothesis from earlier today.I'm not one to post anything explicit these days about my churning efforts, but one could say that my earning potential is Unlimited with this card![]()
