Do bookings through hotels.com count as an eligible expense to erase with the Barclaycard Arrival Plus?

We are going to need a hotel when we move DD2 out of her college apartment later this month. I had been saving all the money on our cards to use for the Airbnb we had for her graduation weekend, but since that's not happening, I need to work on getting the funds used up. Our annual fees are going to be coming up next month. If I don't get the money used (not sure how I will at this point), are the PC options with barclay? I've been thinking about keeping it, but if I'm going with a 2% travel on all purchases card, I think I'd just as soon use my Citi Double Cash Back card and get the 2% back in cash. Seems the same to me without an annual fee. (Unless I'm missing something which I often do lol)!

With all the closing CIP chat going on (I didn't leave myself enough CL to PC mine :-( ) I thought I'd throw this question out again, to see if anyone has an answer?
Just throwing in my experience - tried to PC a CIP with a 2K limit, the phone rep simply upgraded it to 5K on the spot, without shifting from any other card. I guess this somewhat individually depends on your overall credit though.

Does anyone know what the lowest CL you can have on the IHG cards are? DH and I both have the old Club card that's no longer offered, and the Premier. Seems like a lot of CL across these 4 cards, but we keep them for the FNC.

I'm not sure about hotels.com, but funny you should mention the A+, I was just debating whether or not to keep mine. Annual fee just posted last week, and I’m not sure the benefits are worth the $89. Main benefits for me would be to use with Plastiq promos when I need a MC and then the chip and pin for possible travel abroad. I can’t use the Postmates benefit (too rural) and the Boxed benefit is nice but with the Amex gold dining credit plus the seemingly frequent Amex Boxed offers, it seems unnecessary. I didn’t even know about those two benefits until I checked just now. Is there still a no fee arrival that could be PC’ed to?

Sorry I hijacked your question, ski_mom. If I had to guess, I would bet Hotels.com would be eraseable with A+ but I don’t really know for sure.

With the shift to maximizing category spend I remembered that I used to buy Walmart gift cards on Raise with a card that got more than 2%, CIP, CIC, maybe? Can’t remember if I stopped because it died or I was just always working on MSR.

I didn't know about those benefits either, but they really don't do anything for me either. when I look at their card offerings, I don't even see the Arrival Plus or Arrival listed anymore. I think I'm send them an SM and see if there is anything to PC to that would keep the points without an annual fee. I'm hoping so, because when I forgot that each charge has to be over $100 to wipe the charge. The hotel we were planning on staying in is around $85 per night right now, so I wouldn't even be able to use that yet.

There are mixed DPs of being able to downgrade the A+ to the no fee Arrival over a phone call. HUCA is common. You do have 60 days after the AF posts to cancel/downgrade and get a refund of the $89.

I had DH cancel his last week, totally forgetting about the downgrade option. When mine comes up this summer, I'll try to downgrade.

The plain Arrival has only been available as a downgrade option, it stopped accepting applications in 2017. And last year Barclays nixed the Arrival+ applications (for the 2nd time in two years) sometime in the summer. If you SM and successfully get it PC'd to the plain Arrival, please report back. The $100 minimum redemption is so annoying.

If they give you 60 days, maybe I’ll wait to do anything until we get into June to see if there are any summer Plastiq deals.

I was able to PC to the no fee Arrival about a year ago via phone call. Also I believe the redemption changes to only $25 when redeeming on the plain Arrival card if I remember correctly. Someone can correct me if I am wrong on that. But if so, that would be an added bonus in PCing the card.

Marriott Boundless FN certificate has posted to my account, which is my reminder that an annual fee is about to hit - time to close this card methinks. The 35k cert has been seriously devalued over the last couple years - Chase should be offering a 50k certifcate to maintain the value the 35k cert had 2 years ago. Oh well, Bonvoy!
