as a person who chose to ignore all the warnings about mixing the wrong pets together... let me say this @punkin I feel for you, but I had to live with the consequences of my (bad) choice for too many years. lesson learned. Maybe you could ask the rescue to match you with a dog that's known to be cat friendly,etc. I now have greater respect for these sorts of guidelines for animals. Things are calmer around here now as our menagerie aged out.... but it was chaotic for way too long. A lot of places match characteristics vs. breed of dog...

I'm glad I have dd around. I went to clean my kitchen window and the foot got out of the shoe--whatever the heck that means. DD (my future engineer) fixed it right away. Otherwise I was going to have to call the ex!

Ha, I'm cleaning my windows today too. They've looked terrible with all the pollen on them but I've been procrastinating on cleaning them because I know they're just going to get even more pollen on them

Ds was 9lb5oz and I had an epi -- glad I did because he went into distress and had to be taken very quickly. Went without for dd (8lb4oz) and I am (mostly) glad that I did. My sister had an epi with all 3 and said she wouldn't even consider going without. You will decide what's right for you when the time comes. I didn't have my doctor deliver either -- ds was emergency after 26 hours in labor and dd's was away on a golf trip (he was convinced she was coming late, but she was born on her due date!).

The main reason I don’t want it is so I can continue to move around and try laboring in different positions. Obviously if the pain is horrible I’m not gonna refuse it. My SIL had it with one and not the other. She didn’t want it either time but the first time she changed her mind. She didn’t have her doctor either time. My doctor made it sound like she’s gonna try to be there. She mentioned them calling her to see if she could come in whenever it happens. I have more of a personal relationship with her because we go to the same gym and message on Facebook whenever I need anything

Well, I’ll officially start induction Sunday night if he doesn’t come before then. I’m crossing my fingers he comes on his own though!

The main reason I don’t want it is so I can continue to move around and try laboring in different positions. Obviously if the pain is horrible I’m not gonna refuse it. My SIL had it with one and not the other. She didn’t want it either time but the first time she changed her mind. She didn’t have her doctor either time. Anecdotally, induction is much much faster, but that also means the pain comes on much quicker and is more intense. This is twenty years ago so I have no idea whether they do things the same. I always planned on an epidural, and it really limited most of my discomfort. As my husband always says when we are at movies, my labor was nothing like is portrayed on TV/movies. The pain was bearable without screaming, etc. LOL. I did tell the anesthesiologist though that she was my new best friend I'm not a fan of needles--long ones especially--but I didn't even think about it at the time. I was actually laughing and joking with my doctor during my second labor (telling him I was sorry he had to miss his golf game on Saturday, etc).

It's not always faster--in fact I thought I was told it doesn't always work (this was 15+ years ago). I was induced with DD because my water started leaking at 37 weeks. I had her about 20 hours later. I was not induced with ds and he arrived 2.5 hours after I arrived at the hospital. I don't remember a difference in pain between the two.

ETA: Long-term there's a major difference in pain between the two.

I was induced with 2 and went into labor naturally with 2 and all my labors were 12-14 hours start to finish. I also felt the pain was same with all. I had epidurals with all though I tried hard not to get one with my last.

Well that’s reassuring! I’ve just heard induction makes everything take longer since they’re forcing the process. She wants me to come in Sunday night to get started and then she comes in on Monday. I’m a little nervous because I haven’t met the other doctors but I can’t change that. I’m hoping to go without an epidural but we’ll see how that goes.

I do remember she said she would come back to check on me after lunch and maybe start the pitocin then. I had her by 11:30 am so was way quicker than she thought. I did not get epidural with any of mine. I did try to say I changed my mind. But when the baby is already coming out it is a little late then. lol

At the same time, I will tell them you get no medals for an unmediated delivery and there is no person who shows up for a surgical procedure in our hospital, raises their hand and says “ I’m tough and don’t need pain control”.

Yes. They should be super easy to clean unless you do what I did. And yikes--I didn't know that was possible. Definitely not cleaning my windows anymore

I was induced with both of my girls, both with pitocin. The first time I got the epidural and the second I did it unmedicated. I hated the epidural so much that I wanted to do everything in my power not to have it the second time.

Definitely do everything you can to stay out of the bed and keep moving! That is the key. Some hospitals will want you to stay laying in the bed, and that, with the stronger pitocin contractions, is a recipe for unbearable contractions. Keep moving through them and you will be fine. With the unmedicated birth there was never a time that I thought I couldn’t carry on and needed the epidural, except right at the end at transition. By then it’s too late for epidural and you are about to start pushing. Without the epidural you will also be way more aware of where you are in the labor process. Nobody will have to tell you it is time to push as you will know and your body will instinctively start doing it on its own.

For what it’s worth, I also found the recovery after labor much easier without the epidural. But however you end up giving birth, there are no trophies (except that baby) so do what you have to do and don’t feel any shame for how your labor unfolds if it doesn’t go according to any potential plan you may have.

I was just thinking of telling @Haley R to not worry about being a hero. If the epidural helps you get through it, get it.

With all this talk of the how and what happens before the birth, I want to say that the experience is very quickly put to the side once baby arrives. Everything changes in tone so fast!

Mine all came relatively quickly. The last one took the longest and from the first little twitch of labor - I hesitate to call it labor pain because it wasn't at that point, to delivery was 8 hours - I was at the hospital being admitted on Sunday already 16 days late, to be induced the next day. The first two came very quickly but were both 2 weeks overdue. I think just being in the hospital sent me into labor! Did not need to be induced.

Anyway, fast forward to daughter's first child - not an experience I want to relive. So different than my experience. It finally was a c section after days of labor. 2nd was a planned c section if baby didn't decide to come on their own, which they didn't. Everything went wrong with these pregnancies but the babies are perfect so worth it.

I had to come in because @Hoosier John must have sent me some rain - good for my flowers! But it looks to be sunny now so my half hour rest is over. Back to playing in the dirt.

I have to go in at 5 pm Sunday night. They are using something (I can’t remember what) that she said takes around 12 hours. Then on Monday they will start the pitocin. She said it’s possible I’ll go way before the 12 hours. I’m just hoping she’s there. The whole point of inducing was because she would be there but she doesn’t get there until Monday. A different doctor is on call on Sunday

My cousin was induced because she had high blood pressure and she was in labor for 30 hours.

Well it looks like I am going to have to wait for a paper stimulus check from the treasury dept, but I got an email from Allstate that they are direct depositing my April shelter-in-place discount, a whole $11.54!

Windows - we have casement windows, some 30" wide and 2 stories above the driveway. I have someone come to do the outside windows 4 times a year. He is very reasonable and worth it!
