The Saint is about 2 and the Golden Doodle about 3.
Somewhere in TX, Austin, San Antonio. TX is itching to re-open.
Yes, if you aren't used to the heat, and sometimes even if you are, July can be brutal in my opinion. It's a sit in the car with the AC blowing between softball games kind of a hot, but better than Houston. Evenings are nice though, you'd just want to be indoors in the afternoon.I was thinking about San Antonio. I've wanted to go there for awhile, but I always pictured it more of a fall trip. Will it be unbearably hot in July? We will probably be looking to go somewhere the week of July 5th. DS was supposed to go on a mission trip with our church, but it got cancelled today, so that's probably when we'll try to take our vacation (whatever that ends up consisting of).
July in TX is like surface of the sun...How I know this, besides the fact that I am born and bred in TX...is that our fam frequently travels back every July. It's just the best time we can go. But it's awful. The heat is horrific and the humidity is worse. You will want to be at whatever place you plan to be at opening and done by early afternoon. Then hit a pool or lake and head back in the later evening for dinner.I was thinking about San Antonio. I've wanted to go there for awhile, but I always pictured it more of a fall trip. We don’t have the Verizon or AT&T offer. Our chase offers have really dwindled down to just a few for each card. Turbo tax and a few restaurants we either don’t have or are far away.Check your Chase offers..saw a new AT&T wireless offer on my CF make 2 payments of at least $15 and get $40 back...expires 5/26/2020

I woke up to a notification from Alexa. In Central VA I think we are on a watch until noon. Stay safe, all!I hope everyone is safe after a rough night in the south. We got a tornado warning a little before 4am here, and hunkered down in our basement. No damage after checking this morning, thank goodness.

I'm sorry for your ds. My dd17 was supposed to be in Poland this summer with our church and teaching English to a bunch of summer camper kids. They are waiting til may 15 to decide but I'm pretty sure the cancellation is coming. This was to be her first missions trip. She's gonna be big sad![]()
Yes it will be a scorcher. We've already hit the 90's last month (or was it last week? I know it was hot and muggy). Of course today we are having a cool front and we are back down to 46, but it will creep back up.
I’d love to visit San Antonio. It’s on my list. The pictures I’ve seen of the Riverwalk area look amazing. I was thinking some year in the mid to late fall though.

I'm hoping for a trip to Northern Michigan in July/August. I have family there but it's so beautiful. No clue if everything will be up and running.I'm thinking we probably won't try Texas in July lol! We are in the midwest (not too far from St. Louis), so we get the heat and humidity, but I doubt it's as bad as Texas! DH doesn't mind going to hot places in the summer, but he thinks they need to have a beach lol!
I was also thinking about Niagara Falls, but I'm not sure there's enough to do there for a whole week - I need to research. We've also always wanted to do a northeast vacation (DH wants to go to Maine for sure), but I also feel like fall would be the perfect time to do that trip, so we'll just have to see.
@wendow - sorry about your DDs trip as well. It's such a hard time to be a young adult. I'm afraid some of the things they are missing out on will not be replaceable unfortunately.
nothing wasted! We have a 16 lb whole ham for the 3 of us. But I’ll make soup, a casserole and sandwiches this week. We‘ll freeze a portion to use later.
