And our school district here says they are remaining open at the advice of the CDC...

Ours too, so far. But as I say, we have one more week of spring break yet so I am actually fully expecting that tune to change within the next few days, especially if the exponential growth rate of cases happens as I keep reading it will.
So far all of the emails I have seen have said nothing about reducing ofc/reporting party contact. Doesn't surprise me though, our dept is always the last to get the updates or have those kind of decisions made that might be useful. We may self police those calls on our own, depending on the call volume we get. The city has reduced/closed services for all other depts though.

We went to a local burger joint for lunch today. They usually have baskets on the table with napkins. When I asked for a few napkins the guy bringing our food, said Oh sorry I forgot we had to take them off the table because everyone was stealing them. Baskets and all. Good grief people if it turns into an apocolypse do you really think grabbing the napkins is going to save your life. 🙄

I bet I will have a lot of emails when I go back in tomorrow night.

It's sad, but I am actually running low on napkins! They'd be on my regular list for this week and yet I have a sneaking suspicion I won't be able to buy any.

Making lemonade out of lemons, our Spring Break adventure::
- Added an extra night at the Swan
- Added an extra WDW park day so heading to AK before it closes
- On Mon, moving to Hilton Bonnet Creek for 4 nights (using Hilton points and resort credit on Aspire for incidentals)
- Changing our flight to Fri to head home 2 days early

i have a tentative flight booked for Mon in case Hilton closes or the airlines decide or are Ordered to suspend flights. If it’s after Mon, DH says we’ll just drive home.

RCCL is offering either a voucher for 125% or a full refund for the canceled cruise. I am not sure which one we are taking.

A year spent planning the perfect birthday for DS went down the toile. I am still heartbroken but DS is taking it well but he doesn’t know all of the surprises that awaited him. Pandemics suck! Hope everyone stays healthy!

What part of the UP? I have family that ignores me in the Gladstone/Escanaba area. But I think they started wintering in AZ. Don't know, I seem to finally be off the Xmas card list, woo!

Since I ended up getting a Minnie Kate Spade wallet at the outlet today, I ended up ordering a pair of flats. Hoping I like them when I get them as they are silver, also Kate Spade but was more that they were only 55.20 and more in my price range especially after the credit. And the only size available was my size so I took that as a sign. Anyway, I'd been planning on getting a new KS wallet if I didn't find one at the outlet since I didn't get lucky at Marshall's a couple weeks ago.

OMG I've only read the tag lines at the top but none of it surprises me. And it's not a click to TPG, it's an outside article. Any time I see him advertising he'll be on tv or they use his pic on twitter I ALWAYS think d...nozzle. Off to finish reading...
They're in the LP in Bay Harbor (Petoskey).

On a fun and completely useless note, I picked up a set of these for $25 at the outlet mall today. I have no use for them but I could not help it b they had the Dutch oven half off too but that I could not justify. View attachment 480980
Love them! But that’s coming from the gal who made Mickey shaped rice crispy treats yesterday.

Can you be my neighbor? 🤣

We host friends all the time so just let me know when you're in town!

I'm thinking of doing a coronavirus party. Like our parents used to have chicken pox parties, they'd bring the one contagious kid around all the others to spread it around and get it over with.

(I'm not actually doing this, it was just a funny thought I had.)

I canceled my Disney trip on Friday, and canceled my beach trip over spring break yesterday. Next up will be the Europe trip (scheduled for end of May-1st half of June). I’ll wait awhile on that in case I can get more of my points/money back.

Our flights are with United, so I’ve been following the ongoing saga of their refund policy via DoC. Also hoping to get a full refund on our Airbnb reservations if I wait long enough. So far I think they’re refunding through April 15. DLP...our PIF date is early May. Only refund I’m not optimistic on getting is our Chase UR portal hotel bookings - 3 nights in Edinburgh and 3 in Venice. And who knows on United.

Hi y’all. I haven’t kept up lately but thought I’d pop in. To no one’s surprise PlanePrincess and I are in WDW this weekend. We are using the 7 night Marriott certificate from the nights and flights travel package pre merger. The parks seem busy as usual. But clearly COVID is not far from everyone’s thoughts. So, I simply had to share yesterday’s highlight of the day.

We go off to ride Flight of Passage at AK. During the pre show there are 16 people in the decontamination room that burst out laughing uncontrollably while being scanned for Pandoran micro parasites and being told we all got them. 🤣🤣🤣

Went over to reddit after I posted this and someone posted on churning a link for a Chase Travel online cancellation form. Maybe that will amount to something. I’ll try to post a screenshot.

I’m sorry it was ruined. Glad your DS is taking it in stride. I feel you. DSs birthday was Thursday just as things started to hit here. So for his birthday we went grocery shopping and ordered food in. Have 24 extra cupcakes we baked for soccer practice which was canceled. DS is so far taking it in stride as well, not even complaining when I told him he won’t have his iPad all day while I’m at work and looking on the bright side by saying at least the kid who’s been teasing/bullying him of late won’t be able to while they’re not at school.
Not our best effort, but this is what DS and I did today View attachment 480990
cute!

Thanks. It didn’t exactly work out as planned. Couldn’t get the fondant the right color (was supposed to be Gryffindor colors) without it stiffening up too much and the ganache on top seized up. It tasted delicious though and my dad would be proud of the MacGyvering I did for the snitch wings (we joke that my dad was the original MacGyver)

We really have no idea. Her program still has almost 5 mos, so you would think Disney would offer these kids first dibs when they reopen rather than hiring new CP's but they aren't. I'm not impressed with Disney's handling of this at all. They were told midday today and have to be out by Wednesday at 11am. That is a lot to figure out in a short amount of time.

I do think she will want to go back for another program. She had planned to apply again for fall 2021 or spring 2022. I'm kind of worried now she will want to apply for the next one she can (which I think is fall 2020).
I’m so sorry for your DD. That is so disappointing. Maybe Disney will come up with another solution in the coming days/weeks. Things are evolving so fast. As of Friday at 2, our school wasn’t closing. Around 4 pm, the governor closed all schools effective Tuesday, within minutes our school district announced our schools we closed immediately. The kids were already out for the weekend, anything left at schools was stuck there. They have since decided to open the schools for 3 hours Monday to let people get anything important things like meds or computers.

Order some cloth napkins on amazon to use for the next few weeks? We use them anyway. I’m not worried about napkins or paper towels because we use cloth napkins, dish rags and microfiber cloths for cleaning. I’ve got a big pile of all of them.
