I ordered Chinese food (not Panda Express-YUK! No matter how cheap it is) this week. We paid over the phone. They brought the food to the door. Not letting anyone into the restaurant. They seem to be doing a brisk carry out business. The more upscale sit down places around here are just closing.

The break even points on restaurants is typically a very thin margin, so we may see a lot of favorites get lost in the shuffle.

I can't believe I'm sharing another TPG post but this is a good look at why going abroad is a bad idea and why anyone abroad should head the warning to get home RIGHT NOW*. If they can. The US Embassy is already out of the picture in story after story here. Link

*I'm not yelling at any of our regular posters, I know no one here is abroad and we all agree it's a bad idea. But we have many lurkers and I really want to make sure they see how serious this is.

(Well @*WDW*Groupie* I know you have a very complicated situation here and I hope you're able to get where ever it is you want to be! And @Haley R with the crazy family- at least the lady in the article is going to Thailand so maybe they'll maintain flights and your fam will make it back home on time!)
Thank you. I think we are staying put in Florida for a while. If we decide to make a run for the border we will drive and not stop (except for restroom breaks). We have a little while to decide. It's hard because it's looking like SE Florida is going to be hit pretty hard. There is an 8 year old at a local school that just tested positive and my neighbor told me yesterday that "people" in our neighborhood have also tested positive. I'm not leaving the house except for solo exercise and to walk the dog (and a run for fresh fruit and bread at Publix today -- yay to Publix for having plenty of fresh fruit and veggies, milk and bread!).

Work hasn't shut down yet, but I volunteered to be one of the first to take unpaid time off because there are others who can't afford to miss a paycheck; but since I'm senior management I think they want me to stay around since I have the experience to help in any situation. I'm not sure what next week will bring work-wise, but this week has been pretty slow.

Yikes!!! I would not want to be stuck in Thailand trying to get back here. Too much anxiety for me to handle and not my idea of an adventure. In my younger days I did a lot of things on a wing and a prayer, but have my feet in cement in a comparative sense now.

@*WDW*Groupie* is in a relatively secure position despite all of this. Of course the whole issue is unsettling, but she can if nothing else, drive herself to Toronto (as she stated herself.) She made all the right decisions - canceling systematically all the plans (obviously with regrets) and figuring out how to spend her points on substitute vacations while meanwhile moving her bucket list down the road a bit.

I posted my above before I read yours. What is the situation in Toronto? Do you think it will be better than here?

USA Swimming seems to be lobbying for a one-year postponement of the summer Olympics. Makes sense. These swimmers train 4+ hours/ day and now basically can't swim. I don't know if those with Olympic qualifying times are still able to train, but obviously most swim clubs are closed for business. I'm sure it's pretty much the same story for many other sports..

Tried to do a pick up order for target ny the place I want to pick up dinner at. Nothing crazy and all in stock - pb m&ms, dog treats, frozen 2 dvd, toothpicks and a 2 pack of 3 way bulbs. They cancelled all but the toothpicks and dog treats. I'm so annoyed so I cancelled the entire order and will now have to shop around the entire store. I don't get it unless they are slow on putting stuff on the shelves but if that's the case you had 4 hours to fill my order and did it in less than 1. Was there suddenly a 1030am run on pb m&ms, frozen 2 dvds and lightbulbs?

If I find it all I will for sure complainb right in these times I dont know but it's not like I was asking for tp.

We now have a plan to wipe everything down on the porch before bringing it in. We'll do the same Sunday when I get groceries and I'll be taking plastic bags we can toss, my city just went plastic free on the 1st so this seems safer and eventually we can get more as the surrounding cities are still using them like the target I'll go to later, though those will also get tossed.

So far they have been able to keep the virus pretty well contained, but this can and likely will change at any point. It's a wait and see game. I was reading today that an employee at a jail (minimum security) in Toronto tested positive and is in hospital. This is very worrisome. They have locked down the jail and are establishing who this employee had contact with in the prison. I will know when the time comes to leave, but hoping I don't have to make that call.

I'm glad that I cancelled my Maldives trip before things reached this stage. I was able to reach everyone that I needed to without significant wait times. I can't see travel outside of N. America for us this summer and I'm at peace with this.

Just cancelled everything for April. Our Delta flight that I paid for with GC and cash, that I thought would be a voucher, said my refund will be processed as soon as possible. Really? They are refunding now?
I've seen some random reports of people getting refunds instead of vouchers. Not many, but randomly they have been seen. Like spotting a lion on Kilamanjaro Safari.

Oops...you better change to spotting a Cheetah. They've been making the lions be on stage pretty much all the times I've been there lately.

Everything I'm doing at work is related to what's going on in the economy because of COVID-19. I think I'm going to get an ulcer.

I did find out (as I suspected) that quizzes and tests done while the kids are learning virtually won't count. Now I just have to keep that information from DS:)

(Yes, tortillas are a staple. I am Californian.)
Arizonan here and yes! I felt pretty lucky that I found a double pack of our favorite brand last week so you can bet I grabbed it and they're in the freezer.

Husband currently on the phone with some sort of work thing. I am grateful he is in a field that's considered essential.

The weather is gorgeous. I think we're allowed to take a bike ride, right?

If not, there's always the motorcycles!

You can definitely take a bike ride. I would think that would be safer than walking actually since you’re going faster when you pass people. We’ve been walking every day still

We got our baby yoda in the mail today and I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty disappointed. He’s much smaller than I thought he would be for $33. He’s also not super cute in person. We’ll probably keep him but if I saw it in the store I wouldn’t have bought it
