The FDA is monitoring the drug supply chain for shortages. A month ago they said they had identified a couple dozen drugs that might be at risk and reminded companies they must notify the FDA if they might have a shortage. The last update I saw was at the end of Feb and the FDA had confirmed/been notified of 1 drug that would have a manufacturing shortage and they did not publicly disclose what that was. At that point the focus was more on China because China is the only manufacturer now of certain key drug ingredients. I'm sure their monitoring has expanded drastically over the last month as supply chains around the world close down.I take a couple of type 2 diabetes meds and blood pressure med and I see they are made in India, Italy and the UK. I'm good for a couple of months but now wondering what happens when I run out. Will there be any left at CVS? I can't order until I'm down to a weeks worth of pills.
I think as people see that they will start to calm down a bit. I found it a bit reassuring myself yesterday when my store had my favorite bread (just two loaves but they kinda had 2 loaves of everything) in stock and the tortillas had been partially restocked.shopping update: went to the local "healthy" store today. They had meat, fish, eggs, milk...fully stocked toilet paper aisle (expensive organic stuff but available) and I picked up a small container of seven generation antibacterial wipes to keep in the car. Everything is being restocked.
"DH" generated a link at the end of February that was emailed to me. I just used it to apply. It said 80K for 5K spend. I or he didn't try generating a link now. I was going to apply at the beginning at March but thought I would wait until I got back from vacation. Then the week turned crazy! Decided to do something that felt normal and apply for a CC.In CC news, did the CIP support link already have to be generated b4 the new public offer or can it still be created? I'm thinking I should just go for it now if I can before it all changes.
Dh bought me a 25# bag of flour at Costco. I'm going to be making tortillas, and bread, and anything else can think of for a whileI think as people see that they will start to calm down a bit. (Yes, tortillas are a staple. I am Californian.)

Oooh! Got an ad from Panda Express they're doing Family Feast meals for only $20 through 4/17. Those are usually just over $30!
I ordered Chinese food (not Panda Express-YUK! No matter how cheap it is) this week. We paid over the phone. They brought the food to the door. Not letting anyone into the restaurant. They seem to be doing a brisk carry out business. The more upscale sit down places around here are just closing. My younger daughter's good friend in Connecticut has a restaurant and food manufacturing/distribution service. She was just talking to him and some of the local places are already going under. They do a healthy and established takeout business as well as their packaged foods that sell in grocery stores so are doing okay. Their food products are in Whole Foods in the Northeast. Not here yet but we've gotten some great packages by Fedex!
So although I'm sort of averse to eating out right now, we may try to support our local businesses that have switched to takeout. There is so much to think about with this pandemic.
We usually eat out once or twice a week, here on LI everything switched to pick up or delivery earlier this week including alcohol. We ordered in the other night to support a local restaurant. My younger daughter's good friend in Connecticut has a restaurant and food manufacturing/distribution service. I think we are getting Chinese for dinner. There is a place just around the corner that mostly does takeout - basic Chinese, but fresh and well prepared. I'm not sure how much longer restaurants are going to be allowed to be open (or maybe they are considered essential in this day and age?). Anyway, I think we're going to put a little money their way tonight.I ordered Chinese food (not Panda Express-YUK! No matter how cheap it is) this week. We paid over the phone. I think take out will be allowed to stay open. But seriously at this point who knows!I think we are getting Chinese for dinner. I asked my dad today when they would be back and he said he thought it was Thursday this week so still not for a few daysI can't believe I'm sharing another TPG post but this is a good look at why going abroad is a bad idea and why anyone abroad should head the warning to get home RIGHT NOW*. If they can. The US Embassy is already out of the picture in story after story here. Link
*I'm not yelling at any of our regular posters, I know no one here is abroad and we all agree it's a bad idea. But we have many lurkers and I really want to make sure they see how serious this is.
(Well @*WDW*Groupie* I know you have a very complicated situation here and I hope you're able to get where ever it is you want to be! And @Haley R with the crazy family- at least the lady in the article is going to Thailand so maybe they'll maintain flights and your fam will make it back home on time!)
