So far I have canceled our hotel for our April DL trip but can't make myself pull the trigger on canceling our SW flights.

And now I hear Australia has closed their borders. This is the trip I will be heartbroken if it needs to be canceled. Please, please, please let things be better by 7/30.
I work at a marina and more than half of our customers are from Canada. The border was closed yesterday to non essential traffic. Hoping things get better so we can still operate this summer.

Walmart is changing their hours and adding a senior shopping hour on tuesdays till April 28 from 6-7 am, age 60+. Target has a senior / pregnant / immune compromised hour also, age 65+. Various other stores listed here.

My sister went to Stop and Shop this morning at 6:30...they opened at 6 for 60+. She said it was a mess with lines to the back of the store, worse than going in the middle of the day.
She walked in and walked out.

Dh went to Walmart this morning right when they opened at 6 am. He was able to get chicken, milk (only had 2% and whole), pork, ground turkey, bread, and some other things we’ve been needing. One of the things he couldn’t get was hamburger because we don’t buy the 73%. He said people ran to the toilet paper and after 5 minutes it was all gone. That makes me so sad.

Glad you guys could find stuff. I'm still trying to find chicken and turkey. My friend went to Aldi yesterday right when they opened, and there was none. I'm trying this morning. Me and my friend group have kind of started looking out for eachother/sharing our needs. When someone finds something, they let us know and either we go get it or if we can't get there right away, they get it for us and vice versa. People caring about people. It's a beautiful quality that I wished all possessed. Maybe then we'd all be able to get some toilet paper!

Right there with you. I've figured for a while that we wouldn't be going to Maui on April 5th, but today I just pulled the plug on the SWA flights after the governor of Hawaii asked visitors to stay away for 30 days. My biggest issue is that I have so many SWA credits I have no idea how I"m going to use them all. I may call for extensions at some point. I probably have $1500 a person for DH and the kids all in with cancelled Hawaii, WDW and Amex credits. It's going to be very hard to get the kid's credits used as they are both in college.
What are the odds of them extending any credits? I realize this is just opinions...

Wishing everyone a good day. Hope we all can find the supplies and food we need, get our work done remotely, and educate our children. It should be beautiful here today so I'm doing my lunchtime 2.5 mile walk. And my dog is getting spoiled:)

ETA: I did get an email from SW about a flight change for my Mother's Day trip to Naples. I'm not worrying about it right now.

Thank you for the update! Do I need to call MS for this or can I cancel online?

I am cringing about cancelling May but I know it's not gonna happen. My dd, who is on her way home from the DCP, said word around Disney is that they will not be open until end of May, at the earliest. My aunt is a TA and said she's being told not to expect regular travel to begin until July. She is primarily booking cruises and those would be later to get going, it seems so anyways...
I think you have to call. I haven’t seen any DPs indicating it automatically happening like the points not going into holding.

We can’t find ground beef here at all. In this situation, I’m fine with whatever fat content though I prefer lean. We just have none and I have a few things I’d like to make. I need a couple other things like coffee and tortilla chips. Shouldn’t be a ‘run’ on those. I think I’m battling Costco today. Trying to psyche myself up for it 😬

I’m trying not to think about our Australia trip.

So much horribleness going on:sad2:

My mom's costco story is as follows (love one person case studies):
She's in Naples, FL. She needed her prescription filled so she went Tuesday. It was a mad house. Cops outside. Limiting people allowed in. They had paper products and that's why it was insane.
She went back yesterday because her rx wasn't ready. No paper products so no issues.

I need to go to Costco for ground beef too. And a few other things. Maybe tomorrow or Saturday. I also need to go to Trader Joe's but I'm thinking I just need to buy my turkey burgers and tortilla chips elsewhere for a while and not deal with TJs. The kids will have to live without orange chicken for a few weeks.

The paper products are an issue. I have some but DD 2.5 hours away is running out. She's also working (as in forced to go into the office to do work she can do perfectly well from home) so doesn't have time to scout around different stores and wait in line...so I'm thinking of doing a trip to her house to drop off toilet paper and paper towels. She's screaming at me to stay home because since she's been going into work, she feels like she's definitely caught the virus and at 53, I'm more vulnerable and she doesn't want to kill me.

No way would I do that!!! I try not to judge but... CHILDREN!
ok..... you can try not to judge but the facts are clear, and free of any judgement from anyone else....those people are taking a HUGE chance that at the very least, they will not be coming back home to their young kids anytime soon. And that is the least of the chances being undertaken. It is just facts as it is right now.

I wish we had a beautiful day...sunshine helps everything!
Interesting about your SW flight. I've been wondering when they'll start consolidating the schedule. Obviously, they can't run mostly empty planes around. I have yet to cancel any of my flights. Denial, I guess.

Does anybody here in our group have an upcoming Disney resort stay on RENTED DVC points??
Me. May 15. Private rental, not a company. I don't expect my travel insurance would cover it. I'm just waiting to see what happens by then, it is 8 weeks away. Have not contacted the owner yet.

Also one in Oct through a rental company, I'm not giving that any thought yet.
