My dd and all her friends were there Sunday night. She doesn't get it. None of the kids this age seem to. My dd17 is doing remote high school and college and all activities are cancelled. Her phone is blowing up constantly with kids wanting to hang out, go to the park, go wherever they still can, etc. It's driving me nuts how they just seem so oblivious. When I try to explain what the effort is here and how we are all playing a part in preventing the spread and that the sooner we get control of this, the sooner we can get back to normal life, she looks at me like

That's for you, @SouthFayetteFan
Google up news on Italy and have her read a couple of the articles. I know some people are trying to cutback on virus news overload so I will not go into them here.

And my son called me, very worried that I am not running home immediately. My son in law is wanting to leave on Thursday to take care of a job he's dealing with (contractor work). So, I will probably also leave Thursday. That makes me sad, but common sense has to rule. Much safer to go up the road somewhat together, we are driving two cars, then for me to stay back.

So I'll enjoy my last day here tomorrow. Tried to reassure my son that we are just as safe here as we are at home, but he's a little shook so not buying it.

Hope you have a nice last day at the beach. Safe travels home tomorrow!

@Judique @platamama @PolyRob I am with you all on the crazy things you may see in restaurants. Some people just do not think about safe handling. And honestly, I did not when I started my food service job at 16. I worked at a Noodles and Co and our management was anal about that though... wash hands before leaving the register to do anything with food. Wash hands if you bussed a table. Washed hands if you brought one dirty dish back after running a tray of food. Change sanitizer bucket water every 2 hrs (that was the requirement) but more like 30-60min during busy times. New gloves, new gloves, new gloves! All the time. About the only things we were allowed to switch between without hand washing was running out a tray of food and rolling silverware. I think the open kitchen environment made a big difference, and my GM knew that and beat it into us. She was a great manager too, often times she was the one clearing tables or changing out all the sanitizer buckets and rags for us when we were busy. Now I see things all the time that just make me 🤦‍♀️

I think this is a big part of the trend towards open kitchens. My DD works at Five Guys - and its the same thing. Its all right there in the open, and they have really strict procedures about segregating what you are touching and washing/sanitizing in between. Not a bad thing at all.

Like most of us, I’m not spending as much as usual, so I’m wondering if I might have trouble meeting MSR on my recent Chase biz card. It will also take me a while to liquidate my most recent vgc MS purchases so I don’t want to buy more of those right now. I usually don’t do this but I might get employee cards for anyone in the family that might possibly have a reason to use a credit card over the next two months. Which will probably just be DH come to think of it. Kids aren’t going anywhere right now.

I also still have my $10 Amex gold food credit to spend. I guess the best option right now is Boxed? I figured I’d mention Boxed since I doubt I’m the only one here who hasn’t used their ten bucks yet. I’ve been trying to keep Amex happy with my spending but I think that goal is now dead for the time being.

Just at Food Lion, Suntrust, and Wells Fargo. Needed to stock up at FL. DS is eating me out of house and home. Cashier said it was a crazy day but at least she had job security. Said she'd had a few customers today who told her they'd just been laid off:(

Went to Suntrust to pay my mortgage. Tellers are behind glass and wearing gloves.

Went to Wells Fargo to get cash (small bills). The teller had no gloves and they weren't behind glass. I'd rather work for Suntrust.

I'm in for the day. Work is super busy (work in economic consulting).

This right here is one of my biggest peeves. I've seen that kind of action at various eateries, I'm pretty sure they're clueless and think nothing of it. But I want to call them out and publicly shame them, I know that's bad of me. I can only hope that people get used to practicing better hygiene overall because of this current situation.

I've given thought to wiping down everything I buy from the store before putting it away but honestly I'm too lazy to do it.

I watched Contagion tonight. I suggest people who have anxieties DON'T watch it. I've seen it before but only remembered little bits of it. I have a copy of The Stand sitting out too that I was thinking of reading again. I'm a glutton for punishment I guess. lol

My angry emoji was for the utter failure that testing has been in the US. It defies any logic. I've read excuse after excuse, but really there is no excuse for that. Some heads better roll for that.
I’ve watched Contagion twice since all this started. I’m pretty anxious but I don’t know why, it calms me! Maybe it’s something about watching all the awesomely competent female characters (Drs. Hextall, Mears, and Orantes) doing their best to save the world makes me feel better.
You sound like you’re handling what your boss should be! Whatever you’re getting paid- it’s obviously not enough!!
I don’t want to give the wrong impression! I chose to come in today because I can be so much more productive here than with my inadequate setup at home. So far today I’ve seen two people in the building and have been washing my hands immediately after coming in to get any door handle/elevator button grime off me. I’m more nervous about going to the grocery store than coming in to the office right now, to be honest. I’ve known my boss for almost 25 years - she’s really like family and takes good care of me. I wouldn’t say no to a raise right now, lol 😂

I watched Outbreak last weekend, and am going to watch Contagion again. Was contemplating a 3rd binge of Containment also. I am weird like that. I watched Titanic and Poseidon right before our first cruise too LOL.

Yes!! I feel the same!! We watched it last Friday and it made us feel better and calmer too. Maybe it’s because of how quickly they get a handle on it in the long run with the vaccine :confused3

I'm in the same boat. Need to finish a CO Venture and Amex Gold MSRs. I need to use that Gold credit too. Might also do a Boxed order since I'm not going to be eating out anytime soon, and don't really have anywhere nearby to use it in the first place.

And there goes Canada. Border closed to non-essential trade. Apparently a “mutual” decision.
I am almost afraid dd and I will get stuck here. I was waiting to see if her prom and graduation would take place, but I can't fathom how either will at this point. I am mentally preparing to get in one of our vehicles and start driving towards the border with the dog. Of course I still need to get a certificate of health for the dog, which requires a trip to the vet, which would mean leaving the house, which I am not doing except for exercising and walking said dog. I will likely have to decide very soon what we will do. My other worry is if we will be able to get food in Toronto, though I hear the shelves are being constantly restocked.

My oldest daughter is a sophomore at the University of Utah. We have plans for my wife to fly out Saturday to help her pack up and drive back to Iowa. This morning, a 5.7 magnitude earthquake hit, and it damaged the airport, runway, and control tower. Fortunately, thanks to you all, I’ve got oodles of Chase, AnEx, and various airline miles. I now have backup flights to Idaho Falls and Moab, as well as an option to fly to Phoenix, then grab an allegiant flight to from Mesa to Provo. Crazy times.

A friend of mine recommended using Dinnerly so we don’t have to go in the stores as often. She sent me a code that let us get our first week for free and we did the family box which is 12 portions. We may even keep the subscription going so we don’t have to rely on going in the store
