I will not lie. Disney World closing and DCL shutting down scare me.
It really doesn't scare me. I think everyone shutting down for March is an attempt to keep the spread down. it may work. Since the parade Saturday was cancelled and the concert we were going to, we had decided to hit a local bar where a favorite band was playing, but now they have cancelled too! There are still no local cases here, and I plan to go out to eat Saturday anyway because I think the businesses can use the support.

And a totally silly gripe, but I am super duper irked that Fast and Furious 9 has been delayed because of this! That, and A Quiet Place 2, were the two movies I wanted to see so badly this year, and now I can't see either. The movies wont' be an option much longer, because nothing is going to open. Theaters will just have whatever is playing now.

Everyone has to feel like they are doing something for the cause. I’m not sure closing for two weeks really accomplished anything, but it looks good.
We’re super slow at the hospitals which is odd since March is usually are busiest month. Still haven’t seen a covid 19 patient.

Trader Joe's was unreal today after work. The freezer case was bare. The lines went halfway to the back of the store and there was no social distancing:( I'm working from home tomorrow and dd has an appointment I have to go to. Then I'll pick up a few more things.

School here is closed for two weeks. Will be interesting to see "virtual learning." I can't imagine DS will learn anything but we'll say.

Trying hard to look for positive things. All day it was one piece of bad news after another.

We might have had the same day. :scared1: The thought of trying to work at home while simutaeously 2 kids are doing their "virtual learning" will be interesting. I'm sure older DD will be fine, they do most of their classes via i-pad already. The younger DD is not set-up for any "at home" learning. Their supposed to be sending home work with them for the next two weeks but being that they only gave the teachers a days heads up, I can't imagine what they can come up with.

And yeah, the grocery bill while everyone will be home is going to be crazy. It was bedlam at Publix here today. As someone joked, we may be bartering shampoo for TP in a few weeks. :rotfl2:

We should all try to support our local businesses through this. I know bail outs are coming, for travel industry.

There was NOTHING in our Trader Joes. Completely empty freeser and refrigerator sections. COMPLETELY EMPTY. This is bizarre.

I did my Kroger clicklist last night for a pickup today between 5-6pm.

I got a voicemail saying "come at 8." Ok. Then I get a text at 4:45 "Your order is ready." Okay head over there after work. The parking lot is MADNESS. Get in the pickup line, call the number... the phone rang for 2 minutes. Woman picks up, I told her my name and she said "Come back tomorrow." I was like, "I had a pick up time." I left.

I called the store at 8 to make sure I did in fact have a reservation for tomorrow now... the guy told me they hadn't even gotten to the 3pm slot orders yet... and 8pm. Five hours late.

My assumption is half my order will be unfulfilled. There won't be much left in the store.

Our finance person at Fidelity emailed me yesterday. I could not get back to it until today because my job is chaos right now because of this (healthcare PR). When I finally had a second to go make an appointment... well every slot was taken until April. We won't have any money left by then at this rate! I'm kidding but it does feel that way. The Fed injected 1.5 TRILLION... and the Dow still cratered to its worst one day drop ever.

People are not prepared for the economic pain that is coming.
I feel you. My IRAs and other investments are nose diving as I’m sure everyone else’s are too. The only thing I can do right now is not sell and make it worse. But what actually makes it better, who knows? It’s all a mystery to me.

Holy cow this doesn’t sound good. I did a Walmart pickup for tomorrow. I hope that doesn’t happen to me. I ordered normal groceries we needed and then some stuff to make a breakfast casserole that I plan to freeze for when the baby is here

Universal is closed now too. We had planned a trip for the end of the month and used UR to buy tickets. I’m still within the cancellation window for the resort, so I’ll get those back.
Do I have anyway of getting points back or extending the expiration date? I peeked at my trips home on the UR site and it doesn’t even say when the tickets expire.

I think they are doing the right thing. I doubt anyone is happy about this, let alone gleeful, but sometimes we just have to put on our big girl/boy pants on and do what we can to protect as many people as we can (according to the epidemiologists who have been saying this for at least a couple of weeks now). I honestly hope that if we can slow things down the hospitals won't become swamped like the ones in Italy, that the doctors and nurses won't have to work non-stop and even when sick, and that we can save lives. I am sad when I think about the trip I have planned that may not happen, and scared because I have a DD overseas and an older parent who is at risk, and I fear that US is acting too late. I'm very impressed that Disney is treating their CMs well through all of this mess. And I hope we can all make it out of this time and get to a better time where we can plan more trips in the future (and hopefully be able to actually afford things). :grouphug:

It's insane out there. I had a grocery delivery today and it was missing about half of what I ordered, including ordinary items like onions, cabbage, and chicken breast. I didn't even try for paper goods or dry goods like rice. :(

I have an order for tomorrow and I definitely feel it won't have much that I ordered.

So sad rn :sad1: We're in Jacksonville---dh has been meeting clients as we drove down. I just managed to find flight for younger dd on Saturday to BWI from school, and I cancelled all the kids' flights.

I have no idea what to do with the dvc bookings. I bet the hold times are insane! Dh is on hold with Hyatt right now trying to get our money back for two hotels, one for tomorrow night near Disney Springs.

I'm going to be selfish and cry for little bit, for the trip we waited to gather 18 months to gather our dvc points for, the one that we were going to introduce ds's fiancee to Disney. And then I'll pull up my big girl pants and go on.

Just canceled my MCO Hyatt and SW flights for DS and I. Our CBR room for two nights was booked through AAVacations. I tried calling them today and they didn’t even have a phone queue, just said try again later. I’m confused on their change/cancel policy. Under the original policy I wouldn’t be able to expect a refund at all but I’m hoping to at least be able to change my dates. Considering it’s a room only res and the resorts are staying open, possible I won’t get anything back. My dates were March 15-18.:grouphug: ...so many of us in this together. Sorry to everybody else with messed up plans!

Sad news in Canada. The Prime Minister's wife tested positive. Beyond sad. She just returned from a speaking engagement in the UK with his mom and their daughter. He's in self isolation for 14 days, so far no symptoms. I'm still trying to process.
