I would just see if they could extend now and apply before anything changes. I had 2 certs that were expiring before the trip I wanted to use them on. I waited until a few months before then called. They extended both, then applied both to my existing points reservation Then I changed my mind lol. I decided to apply only 1 FNC for the 6 night stay so they returned one FNC which had been extended a year.

You’re right. I’ll give it a shot. Worst case they say no and I try again later.

I tried via chat yesterday, no luck.
I went ahead and made a reservation using both certificates. But I'm still so conflicted on whether I want to keep the Chase Marriott Biz or cancel it. I'm for sure canceling the Amex Marriott Biz, but my chase fee posted this month. ugh.

What are the expiration dates on yours that they wouldn’t extend?

I have an Amazon offer for Discover (spend $50 get $20 off), but we don't currently have any Discover cashback. We used it all already. I found a direct link for the Amex offers and it says we aren't eligible :(

I struggled to figure out how I would make it work for me, as well. There are 2 Hiltons across from Disney Springs and thanks to a suggestion by @vanjust14 I booked one night pre-cruise and after the resort credit, I spent less than $100 OOP, which I felt was awesome (and much less than I had budgeted). We were able to walk across the skybridge to DS, have an great meal at Homecomin' and it worked well. The FNC we've applied to one night at the Miami Conrad prior to another cruise (in December) and the room we have reserved is running about $550. I was also able to utilize the airline credit in January when DD decided to fly back to school from Christmas break a day early.

TL;DR--you might surprise yourself with finding ways to use it but if you do your research and you really can't then no biggie-not all cards are the right fit for all people :)
Which Hilton did you stay at in DS?

I like gowns for when you first get home and are doing a diaper change every hour through out the night....
We're planning on using the sleepers for when we go to restaurants with AC in the summer. I bought swaddles that velcro for when he's sleeping and plan to buy some sleep sacks. Hopefully those are easy enough to get off him to change throughout the night.

I'm completely in the camp of earn and burn. I like to get a good redemption value but I'm not super caught up on getting the greatest redemption value. Many times for me using points make more sense then cash. Points give me an excuse to take trips that I otherwise wouldn't take, so when I have points I'm looking for a way to spend them :) Right now I'm in a weird place where I don't have any big trips planned and likely not be able to commit for some time to any travel plans. Hoping to make the last minute trip later this month work, but that is still a work in progress.
I think similarly. I earn and burn and use points to make trips happen that we other wise could not take. I definitely pay cash when it's "cheaper" than points, but in general I earn to burn!
So the Sea World trip is our November destination. When we do Disney we ONLY do Disney 🤣 🤣

Those "other parks" are for our long weekend trips haha!
Gotcha!

We are looking at Universal for 1-2 days this fall, so I will have to pick your brain on your last trip (and everyone else here!)

That should be fine! We swaddled all of ours but since several of mine were born in cooler temps, we needed the gowns under the swaddles. Plus a couple of mine finagled arms out pretty fast so they needed a clothing item under. Gowns were just such a lifesaver in those early weeks when i could deal with snaps or getting legs back in the holes lol.

Is there a reason to check in early for the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki? I'm not expecting much for our Diamond status {FlyerTalk set my expectations rock-bottom there), but I figure if we check in there is the *possibility* to get an upgrade of some sort.

However, I heard the lines can be long and perhaps we could skip that with online check-in? But then we need towel cards and possibly parking stuff, so we will still need to go to the desk.

We arrive tomorrow (YAY!!!) and should get to the hotel around 4:30ish, if that matters. I assume Saturday will be a busy check in day.

Ok, decision time. I'm looking for a card mostly for Plastiq mortgage use. This will be for P2 who is 2/24. (I don't want to list them out, but last Biz was 11/19, last personal was 7/19, has personal dropping in June).

The only card on my want list is Hyatt, but I have no upcoming stays planned so this can/will wait, and it's Visa so won't suit my purposes anyway. (Momma likes her hotel status lol)

Discover It Cash Back
No AF, would only get 1%, but doubled first year. I like the rotating categories for this year so that would be nice to have. However, this adds to his /24, which being so low isn't a big deal. I try to keep us at 4/24 so the door never closes.

Discover It Business
No AF and 1.5% but doubled the first year. That makes it a pretty good card for Plastiq, I would be ahead. Nothing else wows me about this card.

I ran some basic numbers and if I cap the quarterlies, the personal comes out ahead. But, that does pull spend away from some other cards. Decisions.

Which would you choose? I think I'm leaning toward the personal.

Well, it's my turn to get in on the companion pass fun... Gosh, I've been talking about it long enough! 🤣 You guys are all like "geez SFF, we get it, you love the CP, shutup already!"

So tonight in preparation I had to cancel an old friend...SW plus, been a steady pal since March of 2016 😢 She'd been with me through a lot, was my 4th oldest open card...she brought my my 3rd companion pass ever...but now it's the scissors and a trash can for her. I'm okay...I just need a minute...I might love my cards a bit too much........
Am I the only one that thinks it's funny your 4th oldest card wasn't even only 3 years old? :p There seems to be some turnover in your relationships, lots of love to spread around.

Has that worked for you before? I tried it with a deal recently and it didn’t work but I could try again
Worked for me with the last promo. Took a few days.

Your Diamond status will get a shorter check in line. Like, the regular line was incredibly long, the Diamond line I had one person in front of me.

We were upgraded and had an amazing view of Diamond Head, but this was several years ago and we were only staying one night before heading to Aulani. Have an amazing trip!!!

Work sent me to Hawaii three or four times and always used that place since it was not too far from our office. This was tho about 10 years ago. As Gold I got an upgrade once to a corner ocean view suite. One trip we were invited to a get together by a supplier up in a massive suite, now that would be fun to stay in as it was huge and had such great balconies. Does not answer your question but brought back a bunch of memories.
