I finally heard back again from Chase re my SM, clarifying the 5% back on groceries for the first year of the freedom card I got in June. Sounds like they are giving it to me, but I will be testing first with a smallish purchase to make sure before I go crazy with it.

Now don’t go spreading that secret everywhere. I want Sanibel & Captiva lodging to stay affordable!! It’s a hidden gem IMO!!
Ya know... we visited once a few years back, (back when the holiday Inn on Sanibel was free on points) and I fell in love. My teen son was bored. I want to go back someday.

is there still a market for selling gc online? I have 3 Carnival that I would like to unload.... IDK if it's even possible anymore....if not, then I'll take those as a loss from this years cancellations...

I was debating whether I'd write this or not, but it might be therapeutic. Emotions are all over the place. My kids lost their aunt today, their father's sister. She died tragically in Colorado, by drowning at her home. We don't know if there was a medical emergency that precipitated or what. As far as we know she was alone when this happened. Details are still sketchy until a medical review of some kind comes about.

Our whole family is devastated as she was definitely a favorite and was a great support when older daughter had her car accident about 2 years ago. She owned her own business and her staff became concerned when she didn't show for work. My ex with police eventually found her. Please keep us all in your prayers while our family grieves for a beautiful person.
so sorry...

Ok..... I think I just got the points back in my acct from my cancelled cruise.... but it's so strange, there's no record of them being returned on the activity page, they just appear there. Is this standard? I'm happy they finally came back! (Over half a mil now:sad: never thought I'd hit that point) Good thing I keep a spreadsheet....

You could try selling on Raise. I don't know if they put a 45-day hold on them or if that's just for airlines. I have a AA card on hold right now.

I just found an app this morning called Card Pointers that is what I've been looking for and I thought I'd share. You click on which cards you have, and then it tells you by category which of your cards offer the best rewards. It even has Siri integration so I can say "Hey siri - grocery" and it'll tell me which card to use.
Nice find!
Did you notice it's preference for the CSP? I wondered why it chose CSP over my PenFed for fuel. Turns out it values URs at 2.1 cpp, so when multiplied by 3x CSP rewards, it is valued at 6.3 cpp. PenFed I adjusted to what I value it at (0.95 cpp), so I'll adjust the Chase cards too (guess it should be more like 1.25 rather than 2.1).

Just got home at midnight from our wdw trip. We had 8 amazing park days. Only one day felt crowded. All others were great with lowest crowds I’ve ever seen. Had times we would be walking in MK and look around and only see CMs. It was crazy great but I’m not sure Disney can sustain staying open if crowds stay this low.
This is what I worry about. We are booked for December, but I fear they will keep increasing capacity until then, without putting back FP or anything.

I’d be pretty concerned too if I had a later trip. We had considered a mid December but now I’m leaning more to turning in our APs. I think Disney has to increase capacity to make staying open sustainable. Without FP+, lines will be long and the way they have the queues laid out for distancing really can’t take many more people without them filling the walkways. Idk. They’re in a tough spot. It will be interesting to see what happens.
Our HS days were very busy, especially the second one. Word is getting out that Disney is low crowds right now. We had people asking us at the airport last night “looks like you just came from Disney, how was it?” 😬

I'll be honest in that I hadn't gotten too far yet other than going through and adding my cards. I'll be curious how fast it responds to offers, if at all (ex Disney offering 5x on groceries and gas) and if it builds that into the model.

Yesterday we booked our first ever Disney cruise. It’s the farthest out I have ever been booked for anything Disney :lmao: December 2021. We will do 4 nights VGF + 4 nights on the cruise + 2 nights another DVC, not sure where yet. I really need this one to happen.

I think a lot of people must be feeling the same way because we asked the TA for a bump-out verandah & there was only one left for our preferred deck/category.

Must be the day for it. We actually got an email this morning from Chase that the points from his cancelled May flights to the Philippines were finally refunded.

Yes. I watched it and I still don't understand how the new mask directives are any different from the old ones.

I'm not certain but I think it is that 'the outdoors where social distancing of 6 feet is not possible' was added. I haven't read either directive, just listened on TV, so may be off track.

This morning I spent about $40 at Aldi on my gold card for some fruit, veggies and cookies. Got an Amex alert that I had used an offer. Had completely forgotten about the 5% back up to $10 at US supermarkets.
