We've always done Seresto collars and have never had a flea problem, even on our barn cats. Our bigger problem in our area is ticks, and the vet told us Frontline was basically worthless for that. It's just so frustrating that I now have to deal with this when the problem didn't even originate at my house! I made DH tell his mom that they had fleas and she was basically just like "oh ok." And I know this isn't the first time they've had them either, so the dog is officially never going down there again. I have been checking all the animals with the flea comb and am dosing the cats with Capstar before I let them back in the house tonight, though I really haven't seen them itching much or anything. The guy from pest control said that he was doing a bomb and a spray on our couches that would work better than doing the baseboard spray. Apparently the baseboard spray doesn't work as well when you have all hardwood like we do with no carpet, so he said any fleas in the house in our house would most likely be in the couch.

I truly feel for you, especially since I know how much work this is. I have no job to worry about and it still took many days/weeks before I felt comfortable that these pests hadn't infiltrated my house when I brought her cats to stay with me. And considering what she was going through in Colorado, this was at best insignificant to her at the time.

My downstairs is all hardwood, including the kitchen but we sprayed baseboards anyway and had to remove all pets for several hours when the spraying went on. When Orkin comes now, they only do the outdoor treatment after asking me if I've experienced anything, so I at least don't have to remove pets. I think I will be paying Orkin for the rest of my life, lol, as I absolutely detest the idea of any bug in my home.

@DisneyMandC we dealt with fleas one time when we lived in Tampa and our bichon was on Frontline Plus. It was disgusting and made me a bit paranoid. Thankfully my kids never had lice but I can sort of imagine what that feels like. What a pain:(

For US destinations, you only have to have 2 nights hotel included. I booked everything online, then you have the option to put your reservation on hold. I then called in and adjusted the hotel nights down to 2. The agents have all been very helpful.
Is it better to put the airfare window you want on hold or the hotel? I'm assuming put the airfare on hold as that the "bigger" component.

Just reading my emails and Chase was busy last night. My two Staples offers posted for $13 each...I had purchased a $50 Disney card and a $14.99 box of coffee to max the offer on each card.

And, my Chase approval letter came at 11:20 pm...but I slept through all that!

Plus, the card will arrive in 3-5 days....yay!

A discussion on the Schwab bank bonus from r/churning prompted me to look at it again and I just discovered that they changed the bonus.

It had been, open a brokerage account and we'll give you $100. If you opened just the brokerage itself there was a 1k deposit needed to avoid fees but if you opened the linked checking account, that would waive the fees without needing the 1k deposit. I think almost all of us opened with the linked checking and deposited $0-100 and got the bonus.

Now they offer a bonus up to $500 but all amounts require a net deposit into the brokerage account within 45 days to receive the bonus.

It's still not bad for folks who want to use the account anyway, just have to put a little more skin in the game this way.

I had my daughter's three cats in addition to mine January to June to help her out after her accident - broken leg and couldn't easily go up and down stairs, etc. Before I took them from her home, I had to call Orkin and have her home treated (she was still in hospital in Colorado) and also treat the cats with frontline, and give them repeated baths until I was sure they wouldn't carry any eggs to my house.

My 2 cats and my dog are treated with frontline (from costco) monthly. Fleas are everywhere outside and will get on your animals unless they are treated. My vet always offers to do their treatment (at a huge cost) and they go over my pets searching for fleas each visit, but what I'm doing at home is working. I also have a yearly contract on my own home with Orkin because I'm not taking any chances. And I still have to remind daughter to do the treatments. Her problem started when one of her cats went missing in Nov/Dec and then showed back up about 2 weeks later - with fleas. Her problem just got worse even though we treated the cat and cleaned her up - she had managed to infest the house in a very short time.
My dog got fleas on frontline. The vet told us fleas in our area had become resistant to it. So these things don’t work forever.

Ok now, Folks - BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!

I was approved for a Chase Business card at 7/24!!!!!!!! (Using 'offers for you' and the starred offers on my account)

And just to give you an idea of how happy I am, here are my stats:
(all personal - I also have several business cards not shown)

NFCU Flagship 3/19
Amex Gold 11/18
AmEx Brilliant 8/18
Chase Freedom 7/18
Amtrak BOA 7/18
Chase Marriott 12/17
Chase Hyatt 9/17 - I know this is dropping off but not gone from my report yet. I won't be 4/24 until next July.

My new card is the Chase Ink Business Unlimited or CIU for short.

Yesterday after many months of 'offers' that only included car loans, mortgages, bank bonuses, I noticed 2 offers for business credit cards. I was so excited as I haven't had an MSR to meet since March!

So, after asking a question or two and not really considering everything I plowed ahead and applied for CIP 80k/5k. I was instantly denied.

Immediately I applied for CIU, my other offer, $500/3 months and got the 2 week message. Went to bed early last night after calling the status line 5 times until about 6pm.

Woke up and forgot about my app until I read @PolyRob 's 30 day wait....so I checked my business account with Chase and there was my new card with the fabulous credit line of $4000!

This brings me to my next analysis and advice to others: I took no time to do any credit line reducing and there I am at something close to 80% of income with Chase. No wonder they didn't give me a CIP! Back before retirement, I was way less than 50% but my finances are different now. I get a pension or two or three and have assets in the form of retirement accounts. I just added up the pension money and applied with that figure which I actually live on right now but which doesn't represent my true financial picture. People without pensions would be drawing from their retirement accounts, and I ignored that possible 'income' on my app (and they don't ask).

So, I will be reducing those credit lines before I apply for any other card. Business or personal. And I will 'up' my income to a true picture when I apply again for the CIP next year or sooner if they give me another shot at it.

But, this morning I can't wait for that little piece of plastic to arrive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And last but not least thanks to @SouthFayetteFan and @Lain for the validation and encouragement yesterday when I stumbled on my gold mine!
That’s great! Glad you got approved for your new card!

Safe travels home. I bet it will feel good to be in your own house and bed although it’s always hard to leave Disney.

Were you able to get your dr appointment rescheduled? Good luck with that!
Yeah I am ready to be home. My gym is open tonight so I signed up for a workout class. That’ll be nice to go to.

They were supposed to call me yesterday to reschedule and I haven’t heard from them. I’m probably gonna have to call them. It’s an important appointment

The storm has moved up by Daytona this morning but you will still have wind. Just be careful, but I can understand Hubby now wanting to get home.

Edit: I copied an actual post and usually what you copy stays. Is this a new feature? Interesting way to kill off objectionable comments - not yours @Haley R - other comments that would have remained in the past when mods removed the original.
We are gonna stop at Epcot first because it’ll be my fourth time and I can get the coasters. So hopefully the wind will die down by the time we head home. Dh will drop me off and stay in the car with the cats lol

You have to do the whole reservation on deltavacations and put the package on hold. i did a whole write up a few pages back

I get that it needs to be on that site, but I want the flight to be 12/20 to 12/25 and the hotel only 2 nights :) So I'm guessing I put a hold on 12/20 to 12/25 with flights and change the hotel part.

Yes book the hotel for all 5 night and put on a hold. Call and they will adjust the number of nights you want to do and then you can pay with miles to get the discount!

:offtopic:

Ugh, can I just vent for a second?

We took our dog to my ILs house a month ago when we were out of town and my mom couldn't take care of him. He came home and was itchy and having skin allergies, and I figured my MIL had fed him something she wasn't supposed to (he has digestive problems/allergies). I put him on prednisone and he continued to itch so I finally took him to the vet to discover he has FLEAS. 🤮🤮 I was absolutely disgusted!! I have never had a flea problem with any of my pets before, and there's nowhere else he could have picked it up other than her house. So we gave him Capstar to kill the fleas on him, on top of the fact that he was already wearing a Seresto collar. But of course, at this point, he's been in our house for 10 days and we have two cats. So now I'm having the house treated today. I've had a vet visit, a prescription, three doses of Capstar, just bought Capstar for both cats, bought another Seresto collar, and had to pay to have the house bombed. Now I have to come home from work tonight and wash literally everything in the house that's a fabric that can go in the washing machine and vacuum everything really good/wipe up any residue from the bomb. I've spent over $250 treating a problem that wasn't even mine to begin with! OVER IT!!
Oh no! I feel for you. MIL and I do not see quite eye to eye on vet care. Or people care for that matter  I don't want to sound like the dogs are mistreated, they're very spoiled, they just do the bare minimum in vet care, like getting the 3yr rabies shot and that's about it. On one hand, they never board or see more than 4 other dogs that belong to family members... but on the other, she is against getting the lepto vaccines (beyond the puppy one) even though they have raccoons and various other wild animals all over the property and in their back yard.

Their dogs got ticks last summer really badly... tons of tiny ones. And then again. And then Aunts dogs got them, so ours got them again. So not our money going to fix it, but some of our time, more of the ILs time/money. But I was just like, WOULD IT NOT BE EASIER TO PAY FOR FRONTLINE OR SOME TYPE OF TREATMENT!!! And this summer... still no treatments, but several tick scares. Sometimes MIL is like, we've just never had ticks before! And I think, I would treat no matter what just based on your area! I think the tick scares are really because two of the dogs have allergies, one is more mild and seems to be okay if you give her a Claritin once a day, but that's not enough for the other. I think she doesn't want to take him in because she's very against putting him on a steroid for allergies. I also think he is a dog than needs his anal glands expressed, that is my theory, but we don't go to the vet to get that verified/checked. I feel bad for him :(

Has MCO opened back up yet? If you had stayed you would still be there. You could have moved over to AKL and enjoyed it with Haley and hubby.
I know 😭 Looks like we would have been able to get out tonight. Would have happily spend yesterday bopping around at DS, or the resorts, or even at Uni (those APs expire tomorrow) before things closed down

I never had lice either. The idea of fleas is just super grossing me out. And now I just feel like things are crawling on me all the time even though I haven't actually seen any on me lol. My coworker said when they moved into their house it had been vacant for a year and the fleas had gone dormant. They basically came back to life when they started moving in. She said the fleas were so bad she was standing with her leg up on the bathtub ledge just brushing them off her leg into the running water. They had to treat their house four times before they were all gone.

I totally get what you mean. My mom and I are both fanatical about veterinary care for our small and large animals. My mom's 13 year old miniature dachshund is currently getting biweekly laser therapy for his back  The ticks are TERRIBLE in our area. My mom actually has a long-term tick disease and our dog has had erlichea before, even with regular use of tick prevention.

And my MIL certainly doesn't mistreat her pets either and they're very spoiled. But like they just recently had to put down their 13 year old corgi. They never neutered him because they wanted to breed him even though the dog was nowhere near breed standard. The one time they attempted to breed him was a fail. Yet they still never neutered him. So what happens? He ends up getting prostate cancer and they have to put him down. Now, I understand that the dog was 13 and lived a long life... but I've neutered all of my pets and never had one get prostate cancer.

Yes, I do understand. I'm actually using Frontline Plus, but it could fail at any time. What bugs me is Costco used to sell a product that was the same ingredients for about $30. It worked just fine for us.
