I need to add a shoutout to my DH here. I told him I was getting the more expensive flex pass for DD5 with the Delta package, but that it was still a good deal compared to paying for a date based ticket. His response: "If we go back to WDW for spring break 2021, can we save money by turning DD5's ticket into an AP?" He does listen! I'm so proud! Also I may have created a monster, lol.

Wow that's interesting! The fine print on my Orlando offer says that it will not count towards Bonvoy rewards or stays.

The days I got credit for were from the nights and flights vacation package I redeemed last year. I used the 7 night stay this June. If you are talking about the package where you are taking your timeshare tour it might not count. However, I would try having them add your Bonvoy member number to your registration and then use a Bonvoy credit card for incidentals.

I thought the OP was referencing a 7 night night/flight package, but maybe I am confused.

@Alexle2007, which one were you talking about? I assumed the timeshare offer since you tagged Calypso too and she has one for Hawaii.

@amalone1013 what are the crowd levels like? I'm envisioning nice quiet parks for you with walk-on / walk-off rides!
Pretty quiet overall. Magnitudes less than 2 weeks ago for GE previews! Most things were a walk still 2 hrs after official open even with emh that morning. Party felt busier than last year which was Labor Day for us, but I saw a lot of those people moving to last night for the hurricane
Don't give him an option. And hiw do the inlaws deal with bil living in earthquake country. They just happen and to me can be way worse than what you guys are doing right now.
I think it's the no lead up that makes it so much worse.
Pictures?
I didnt take any! But they were dressed as the mom dad and daughter from the July 4th scene. 50s? I think. The guy even had the Niagara Falls fan!
@amalone1013 what are you guys up to now?
Today is Ak and Epcot... have our flight tomorrow morning well probably stick with :(
Nashville is such a fun city. Just know that half our neighborhood is there for the Georgia/Vanderbilt game tonight! I wonder about room availability.
Eek! I am good with avoiding game crowds lol
Thats why I didn't bite the bullet for Disney. I was looking at the flights with those layovers/connections and thinking how southwest nonstop is cheaper and faster.
Yes! I looked, even thought about it for our HHN trip this month, Uni tickets, Uni hotel. But no non stops from Denver.

Can anyone help an east coaster get to Hawaii using SW CP and or Chase UR'S? The options are endless. Thinking of using URs to fly Hawaiin Airlines direct at 22,000 pts. We will use DVC points to stay at Aulani. Returning home we are thinking of using SW points and the CP to spend 2 nights/ 1 full day in northern California to ease the jet lag. I hate not using SW points and CP to get there though but no direct flights with SW. We are open to an overnight on the way there as well. How do you guys do it? We can take 10 days for this trip.
Not quite east coast, but from Texas I flew us from Austin to San Jose for 2 nights, we rented a car and spent a day in San Francisco. Then from Oak to HNL. Coming home we went HNL to PHX (via SJC) for 2 nights, then on to AUS. All on SW with 2 CPs.

@Alexle2007, which one were you talking about? I assumed the timeshare offer since you tagged Calypso too and she has one for Hawaii.
You had it correct. I was looking at a Cypress Harbour offer for $199 for the timeshare tour. We have 10 days at Christmas I need a hotel for that I am trying to figure out.

I just saw I can pick up a car at TPA and drop it off at WDW for only $52, so TPA is my plan B. Just waiting to see the next track update first. Of course, now I have to pay 2 1/2x as much for the same hotel room. Boo.

What night did you have the room for and what hotel/price did you pay? Maybe we can help you find a comparable deal.

Edited to add: we did the drive from TPA to WDW before and it couldn’t be easier. Would do again in a heartbeat if the price was right. I know a great restaurant in the area too if you make a stop.

My WDW ticket is supposed to be delivered by email 30 days before my trip, since I'm staying offsite. It's 60 days if it's an onsite visit. I wonder if maybe the ticket would be refunded if trip is cancelled before the ticket is delivered? Not really sure.
If you don’t have the ticket when you cancel I expect it to be wrapped into the refund. If you have the ticket expect accounting to take the value of that from your refund. Until DL actually purchases the ticket it’s easy for them to refund you, once they purchase the ticket from Disney it becomes non-refundable.

VERY good to know tickets won’t be received until 30/60 days. If they do what they say this means FP bookings will not be available to people with these DL packages until after windows have opened.

To Plastiq or not to Plastiq. I can do up to 2 additional 1% fee payments for $1K each and knock out more than half the MSR remaining on my Amex Hilton. This frees me up to start working on another CIP and possibly the CapOne Venture.

It’s only $20 in fees so I should probably do it since Amex is harder to MS on. This would be for tuition so no issues with Amex.

No, they do not. The only thing you get from it is the 15k points, if you have that offer.

I just received a letter for my Vistana Villages offer that expired back in April. They offered to add another night to the 4 night package if I come. No mention of additional fees. I originally paid $269 and then had to cancel. So 5 nights might be worth it and it's valid until Dec 31. I'm already at dvc Nov 3 to Nov 14 right now. 'Perhaps' if I could cut a few of my early nights and/or cancel my 2 night BCV reservation - Nov 3 and 4, I could make this work and save the points.

As it seems the trend is more east with all these updates, anyone know if SW would let me change my arrival airport to TPA? I don't have my room reservation anymore since they made the closing MCO statement yesterday (should've waited to cancel, ugh) but I can still do an AP rate. The official SW statement says between the same airport pairs. Seems silly I can't go into an open airport right up the road (assuming it remains open which could change obviously).

I would make sure I had a rental car lined up first before I changed anything.

Wow that's interesting! The fine print on my Orlando offer says that it will not count towards Bonvoy rewards or stays.

And, I think they mean that. They are 'selling' the room at about $50 per night. They aren't great at trying to give stuff away. I have the 15k point offer as well.

I haven't seen Norwegian anywhere yet. That's promising... even if we have no Kroger brand stores around here.

Although in TIL today yesterday, Littman Jewelers is the same as Fred Meyers Jewelers, which is a Kroger company. But somehow I doubt I'll be finding GC's there...
(was surprised to see a couple local malls pop up when I did a search. a little Google action and voila. Littman Jewelers is a DBA so all locations come up as Fred Meyers Jewelers on the Kroger site)

(I started this post and then had to run away. Reminded me of Roanoke a little to come back to a complete post just waiting for the button push!)

Seems to me I saw Norwegian and Amtrak somewhere in the last few days. I can't say where as it wasn't high on my radar. I was looking for gift cards in Staples, Home Depot and Safeway so could have been any of them.

Can you share that restaurant? I do this drive just about every trip.

I think this MIGHT work, but the real question is what happens to the WDW tickets. I assumed the same as you - if I added travel insurance, then cancelled the trip, I would get a voucher for the full trip amount minus the cost of trip insurance and minus the cost of the WDW ticket. Since the WDW ticket is nonrefundable, I assumed I would keep the WDW ticket instead. But, when I asked the rep, she said the cost of the WDW ticket would be added to the voucher, too. I didn't push her on it because I don't really care either way, and I still think she might have given me the wrong information.

My WDW ticket is supposed to be delivered by email 30 days before my trip, since I'm staying offsite. It's 60 days if it's an onsite visit. I wonder if maybe the ticket would be refunded if trip is cancelled before the ticket is delivered? Not really sure.

One other question - does the $681 include flights for all 4 people? I'm not sure if you can buy more WDW tickets than you have flights. They attached my WDW ticket specifically to DD5 on the reservation.
You could be right about the rep not really knowing. Thanks for the DP!
1. Good to know! But since I’m canceling it doesn’t really matter I’d do a sooner departure date and cancel after I get the tickets. But now I’m thinking do a Disney resort so I get the tix at 60 days and cancel at 59 days after I have the tix

2. Yes Id had to put all 4 of us on the reservation to get 4 sets of park tickets. But I did a cheap flight (out of ATL not BOS where I really live) and a cheap hotel so it was only $681 total. Where I fly and stay doesn’t matter as I’ll be canceling.

If you don’t have the ticket when you cancel I expect it to be wrapped into the refund. If you have the ticket expect accounting to take the value of that from your refund. Yes in order to get tickets only at a discount you’d have to wait until DL gives them to you, then cancel.
The rep could be wrong when they give the tix. In this scheme the actual dates for FPs won’t matter as they are flex tix and just need to be used by 12/20. I’d get them from DL and then attach to me. Then cancel henceforth keeping the tickets and getting them at a very reduced price. This was 4am logic so I could be very foggy
