:(:( If there are no restaurant options, I can’t think of any other reason to pay the annual fee. I still feel very much like a baby churner and the only cards I have ever cancelled are my 2 SW personal that I got for CP..
There really isn't if you're not staying at Hilton's a lot. We may end up keeping the Biz one more year. Hubby has a reimbursed work trip he can use it for and we might have a couple stays in addition that the status would be convenient. But he's got Marriott options for work as well so it's a toss up right now. Might be game day decision when the AF posts to keep it or pull a few teeth to try for the Ascend for him ( he shouldn't be in pop up purgatory but I bet I am!)

Starting to see a similar type of shower more on hgtv in US homes. I don't get it, I want to keep all the heat in the shower and that requires a door or curtain. Nevermind that it just seems messy and no privacy, not that a clear door would provide that but at least it's a buffer and if someone was seeing you in the shower I'm sure of other things so I guess you don't need privacy. It just seems impractical.
We looked at quite a few houses with a shower that had no door. I told Dh that wasn’t happening for me. I’m sure most people that don’t want the door do it so they don’t have to clean the glass. I don’t mind it. We just keep a squeegee in the shower.

Dh and I finished stranger things tonight. It was pretty good, not my favorite show but good. I think they’ve definitely headed more the sci-fi direction than horror. This season was by far the least “scary”.

EARTHQUAKE... :\

7.1, same epicenter. RIP Disneyland??? jk jk...

They are saying 6.9 too though I've seen both.

Actually saw a retweet by the Mariners beat writer of an espn reporter at the dodgers game that felt it and said the game went on. Which knowing how far away it makes sense it would continue.

Hoping there's not a lot more damage and that this is it.

That's so scary. I missed the '89 one that was really bad in SF but the smaller ones I've felt just totally freak me out. :faint:

We had a small one in college that woke us up and my roommate and I asked did you feel that and once we agreed it was an earthquake and nothing was falling etc we just rolled over and went back to sleep. Thankfully I've only been in small one's, the last big one up here happened when I was living in SJ but it took awhile to be able to get a hold of my mom to make sure everything was fine. The pics of dt seattle and the old buildings made it look worse than it was overall.

I’m kind of in a state of shock at the no shower curtain or door thing. I mean I’ve showered in some strange places, lol boarding on TMI, but in a US hotel I apparently have a 100% expectation of a shower door or curtain.

I’ve stayed at a couple hotels with those types of showers and it is Soooo COLD!!! I want to be hot in my shower. So basically I strongly dislike that kind of shower lol.

Question about the Chase offers ar Staples... DH and I have a Chase Freedom that we are co-owners (is that the word for it?) of, meaning I’m not an authorized user- it’s in both our names.
When adding the Chase offers to the card, I have a 5% back offer at Staples added when viewed under my account. That is the only offer for Staples I can see when logged in as me. When I view under DH’s account, this same card has a 15% back at Staples offer added. There is no 5% offer visible while logged in as him.

My question is, if I go to Staples and use his card, will they somehow apply the 5% offer instead of the 15%?

Just seems odd that it’s the same card but has two different offers to the same place.

Cross-posting on gift card board as well.

Thanks in advance!
Do your and DH's cards have the same credit card number, expiration date, and CVC number?
Update for anyone interested: Used DH’s card at Staples and the rebate finally came through. We got 15% without the extra 5%, but at least it was 15 and not 5.

The offer still shows on my card as added. I can’t remember if they “disappear” after you use them or not, or if I’m going to be able to do it again.

NOOOO!!!!!! Some things should NEVER change ...uh-oh. Is this what getting old feels like? Because I feel absolutely set in my USA = shower door/curtain ways.

Exactly! The only thing worse than the heat escaping is not having hot water to start with. The next worst thing is the attacking shower curtain in a hotel, curved bars should be required.

Hopefully they'll start going away like shiplap and subway tile. I'd rather buy a fixer upper or build from scratch than move into something someone else has done to what they think people will like because I guarantee I won't like most of it. Have some imagination people, you don't have to just do white subway tile.

3 1/2 hours later and the music is still going. I think it's a baritone and not a tuba, but it's really getting old. I think they know 3 songs and he knows like 12 notes. Those the songs have gotten more elaborate, there's almost a run in this one. Gone up in octave too. How is that person not tired, they've had like a 45 min break and then a shorter one. How do they have feeling in their lips, which is one of the weirdest questions I've ever written. I played the clarinet, it happens, especially if you play a lot during an hour concert.

I want to go to bed but the ear plugs don't fully help, I've already had them in. Dude's been staring at me on and off for 20 min and clearly wants to go to bed, it is bed time though. At least I can sleep in a bit tomorrow.

Not fun at all. I hope they tire themselves out soon and call it a night.

Have you tried a white noise machine? We got one when DD was little to mask tv and voices while she slept. The only problem is DH and I got used to it and now we travel with it. I will say it can make even the most poorly insulted hotel rooms easy to sleep in.

@GZanta77 In case you have kids with you-
Westin Kierland Resort, Arizona: Go bodyboarding in the Desert
Reflecting Native American and rich Arizona history throughout the grounds, the Westin Kierland resort in Scottsdale is the premier family-friendly destination. While the kids chill in a 900-foot-long lazy river and a 110-footlong waterslide at their Adventure Water Park, adults can escape to the Agave Spa for a relaxing botanical treatment. The resort’s FUN team offers pottery painting, LEGOmania, swimming, crafts, science labs and digital experience for kids 4-12. Head to the OK Corral for lawn chess, basketball and game tables. In the evening, gather at the area’s fire pit for “Kierland Kampfires” and Arizona S’mores.
HIGHLIGHT: At Surf Camp, kids at least 52 inches tall can learn how to surf and catch a wave on the exclusive Kierland FlowRider wave simulator.

Sorry - still catching up. Thanks for the suggestion but my ‘kids’ are way beyond the ‘Fun’ club stage, and have experienced the flowrider many times on RCCL ships. Still, we are all enjoying the resort, even if today was a long one....we went to Sedona for some hiking and a Jeep tour. Beautiful scenery.

We fly out to San Francisco on Weds and the portion of our road trip from Lone Pine to Pahrump enroute to Vegas takes us pretty close to Ridgecrest. I’m from Michigan where the worst Mother Nature does is change her mind 5 times in 24 hours.

might want to check road conditions though, In Trona, theres a few places where the road crack and separated...
