I know. It's a really hight soend on the United card. Unfortunately (lol) I can meet it. I have a few days to think about it as I finish up my CIP spend.

IS RIGHT!! $6k??? When your bonus (or a tier of the a bonus) is barely worth Venmoing...that's when you know it's a bad deal!! You could spend about $175 to get 26,000 United miles...I don't know much about them, but I'd guess that is NOT worth it.

I think you and I are the only ones who feel this way lol! It's just night and day difference in my costco and my Sam's. I feel like I have to get my battle gear on before going into Costco lol. I actually enjoy Sam's. And I LOVE the scan and go app!

Although there are a lot of things that are “less desirable” about the small city/town we live in (but are NOT from), I do enjoy our Sam’s club. Everyone is SO friendly, and they definitely know me by face there. The other week, I dropped my car off to have the tires rotated, and the guy from the tire service area actually walked the whole store looking for me to tell me it was ready since I hadn’t heard them page me. Whaaat??

We don’t have a Costco to compare to, but just wanted to give you some support on your Sam’s love!

Who knows with Chase? They might extend it. Chase extended their Bonbon Boundless 100k offer end date from 5/2/19 to 5/16/19. And I think the IHG 120k offer that was supposed to end on 5/1/19 is still live. Several blogs say the United offer (I'm guessing at least from their affiliate link) ends 5/16/19.

So, I just redeemed some AA miles and used my latest card's $250 travel credit for actual flight and car through the AAvacations site. I didn't want to do it because I need all that for WDW but it's a situation where better to do it than pay cash and actually better flight options on AA portal.

Long story short - my MIL went for a shot in her back about 6 weeks ago. To help with back pain. Doctor nicked a nerve and she immediately lost all feeling below the waist. Had to have emergency surgery to relieve a hematoma in her spine. Hasn't been able to move her legs or any feeling below waist since. Was in ICU for 3 weeks, then moved to a rehab facility and in a few days is moving to a different one. They are going to have to sell their 4000sqft 2-story and get a small ranch. My dh needs to go back to help his dad in about 10 days.

Was super thankful to have the miles and travel credit. SOOOO much cheaper than cash for flight and car!

That is some awful stuff that your in-laws have to contend with. I hope for a happier outcome for them, especially your MIL. And good job you, for building up your stores of miles and points that your DH can help them out without financial stress on your family.

I follow TPG on twitter (I know, I know) but sometimes they have useful info though I do try and read it on DoC instead. But all of these tweets about the new vlog are 100% more obnoxious than he and they normally are. If it continues each week or whatever I'm going to have to stop following them. We get it, you have a lot of points, are self serving, make a lot of money and your brand is you flaunting all of this, it doesn't make you good at what you do especially since you give all the info away and ruin it for others.

Also...side note...is the spreadsheet struggling today?

I think they just believed what the docs initially said...after they lanced the hematoma and put in the drain, the swelling on her spine would began to subside and she would begin to get feeling back. The day it happened, docs were saying she'd have feeling back in a few days to a week. They were holding out hope it'd improve but obviously not happening.

I hope she’s been seen or transferred to a high level university type hospital for an opinion. I work at a community hospital and while I trust the docs I work with, I wouldn’t hesitate to get a family member transferred if something rare/unusual happened. I really hope she can heal and recover.

Thanks. I see some on Shoes.com that has 15% back but I am not seeing any that really jump out at me. Do you have recommendation for a particular kind?

I like the kind that are flip flop style but have the ankle strap, most of the rest to me tend to look older. I think they are still trying to rebrand from orthaheels and make cute/younger looking shoes. They don't have the ones I have because they are a few years old but these are the ones I'd look at if I wanted new ones. Also, we got caught in a couple of different rain storms in Nov and it didn't ruin the shoes and they were dry by morning though I had two pair so I alternated anyway. I wish I'd gotten the cute black patent leather ones a couple years ago but anyway...

Whoa... I just got a call from 1-800-935-9935. I didn't recognize the number so I let it go to voicemail. Googled the number and it's Chase's fraud department for checking and savings customers, except the voicemail they left was in Mandarin. These scammers were able to spoof Chase's number. (I've also received calls from a spoofed Social Security Administration number before.) Be careful folks.

I’ve gotten a few voicemails in Mandarin lately too. Never googled the number to find out who they’re from.

Thank you. Yes, they would never let my dh pay for his flight and car but they don't need one more financial thing to think about so this way, we just say, we used points. No big deal

My FIL already contacted someone. And case has been filed. The lawyers told my FIL they’d let him know if they needed anything else after he sent all the medical records. Said these cases can be wrapped up quickly or take years. It really is a horrible situation.

If they can afford it, holding out is the best bet. Many insurance companies will try to prolong things so the person has to settle for a lower offer when they can no longer afford to wait. It happened to an acquaintance, she was t-boned by a Pepsi truck, in a wheelchair for years, couldn’t work, etc. She was the breadwinner. Fortunately they had a lot of savings and her husband was able to bring in some income as well, they didn’t need the settlement to pay bills. But the insurance company was pretty much waiting for her to run out of money and settle. She waited them out (plus got a tip from a cop who had seen the red light camera footage and encouraged her to stick it out)
